In-Progress At Fontana: "NASCAR RaceDay" On SPEED
There are certainly a lot of issues to be explained once the veteran RaceDay team takes the air at 1:30PM Eastern Time. They will certainly give us the first glimpse of the overall track conditions.
NASCAR Now came up short earlier in the day, despite the fact that Nicole Manske was on-site. Fans should have been made aware of what happened overnight, after the ESPN telecast went off the air.
RaceDay will again feature John Roberts as host, with Jimmy Spencer and Kenny Wallace alongside. Wendy Venturini will be reporting from the garage, and Hermie Sadler will be along with track description and race condition updates. Rutledge Wood is still defining his role on this series, and continues to be placed in a wide variety of situations by the Producer.
The SPEED Stage location was tough for Steve Byrnes and John Roberts on Saturday, and many posters have been telling The Daly Planet that the rain has continued all night long. We will get our first glimpse at what the day has in store when RaceDay hits the air at 1:30PM Eastern Time for a full two hours.

From a fellow ham radio operator who is at the track, study light rain.:(
the forecast looks good. the radar has cleared up. this race looks like it will get in on time.
hmm...conflicting comments immediately.
I have been reading nothing but rain in the area, overnight and still raining.
Should be interesting to hear the rest of the story.
Weather.com shows a lot of green blobs right over the track. Hard to see how things have cleared up.
Per my buddy who is at the exit from the garage area, light rain.
oh boy....rain still around.
How we lookin'?
Not good. :(
JD, once again, another great day from speed as expected.

Um... the radar I'm looking at show nothing near the track, Of course it still is cloudy. a few green spots far off that are not on track to hit the speedway though.
Does anyone else feel the Alltel promotion was awkward and forced? After it was over, it made me feel like Speed and Newman had worked on it ahead of time.
I felt used. Never really got that feeling before with Raceday.
hm...it seems my radar was off. it still looks promising though.
It's the "Conception" of Robby
It's the "Conception" Too Funny & Sad.
Geez,
Thank you and your fellow ham radio operator for the updates since we're not getting as much as I thought from SPEED, with less than 90 minutes until they switch to pre-race on FOX.
I'm surprised they waited 20-25 minutes in to give a forecast. They should have done that right off the top, especially since there are spots of rain on the cameras.
Wish they could have interviewed a NASCAR official before the driver's meeting to get an idea of plans for today. (jayski says race start originally scheduled for 4, so meeting would be at 2.) Maybe after.
Its nice that the guys on TV are optimistic about getting the race in. But the fact is, today is pretty much a total washout. The reason they tell us they are optimistic is too keep viewers watching.
NASCAR doesn't runr aces in rain delay late at night like they use to. If it is still raining and the track isn't near dry by 6 PM ET, the race will most likely be canceled. And it looks like it will be unfortunatly.
My Pleasure. Just talked to him a few minutes ago and he said the rain has picked up some. Moderate showers.
ok the question is this, if the rain stops soon enough to at least get 1 race in tonight and it's about time to start the Nationwide race, will we get the NW or cup race today?
They will run the race that is scheduled for today first.
If they ran the NW race the fans would burn the track to the ground!
The Cup race is "the show" so definitely Nascar will do whatever they can to get that race in today. But it's not even noon on the west coast yet. They have 8 or 9 hrs today to get a race started if they want to finish by midnite PT.
By the way there are only 10 Cup drivers in the N-wide race.
Did two of the Cup guys drop out? I thought there were 12 doing double duty.
As of 10 minutes ago, rain has stopped at the track. For now anyway.:)
Lets get realistic. Even if it does stop raining. They still have to dry the track and there is a chance of showers all day. We saw this Friday and Saturday. The track is almost dry and another light shower ruins everything.
That is pretty much today's setup. We have seen this before. NASCAR says they will wait as long as they can, but the race is always eventually postponed.
Your right about 12 Cup drivers in N-wide race. Nascar Now earlier today said 10.
Interesting that only 43 cars showed up for N-wide race and only 27 spots were guaranteed since 3 cars in the top 30 points did not enter. Purse money must be low.
All jet dryers to the track. :)
SUN IS OUT!!!!
All we need now is for it to not rain on a particular 140 acres in Fontana. :)
They really should let Hermie Sadler do more interviews like with John Darby & John Burton.
Blue sky!! it looks good. radar looks good too.
