Live Blogging The Nationwide Series From Watkins Glen (2:30PM ET - ESPN2)
Here we go with what might be one of the best races of the season. ESPN2 will be covering the Nationwide Series event beginning at 2:30PM ET.
Allen Bestwick will have thirty minutes to set the table for the race from the Infield Pit Studio. Bestwick will have his regular panelists Rusty Wallace and Brad Daugherty alongside. This show should revolve around the wide variety of personalities in the field.
Sprint Cup drivers, Nationwide regulars, road course ringers and one-time Watkins Glen specials will make up the field. The result is going to be a very different on-track dynamic than fans have seen so far this season in the Nationwide Series.
Once things get underway, it will be Marty Reid calling the action with Dale Jarrett and Andy Petree alongside. On pit road will be Jamie Little, Shannon Spake, Dave Burns and Vince Welch.
The weather looks good, the TV crew is experienced and the track is poised to feature the new NASCAR restart rules into a very exciting Turn 1. The ingredients are in place, we shall see how it all plays out.

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 223 of 223I had the radio ready to go all day, but never reached for it. I really could do this all of next year, it's amazing what one person can do for a broadcast.
Are we going to interview all the cup guys?
Congratulations to Marcos, and congratulations to all the ESPN crew (except the pit reporters).
The broadcast team did an excellent job. DJ and Andy are so much more effective with a competent play-by-play guy. Marty Reid rocks!

I don't usually mention sponsors, but I do like seeing an STP car in victory lane, even if it's bright orange instead of blue.

I agree. It's a wonder what one change can do.
Great team in the booth.
Hurry! Hurry! Gotta get to PokerTV right away. Jeez.
i thought kyle did a respectable job in that interview...the reporter tried to get him to call the move dirty and he didn't he just felt it was late.
ESPN was doing so good all day then in the last 5 laps they remembered who they were & showed replays under green & only 5 cars cross finish line. Yup must've been midnite Cinderella.
At least Kryle is still Kryle
Espn had to cut post race interviews because taped Poker was next on the schedule. On real.
The pit reporters should read up on the "book" - pit reporting for dummies!
Too aggressive? Ambrose never touched Kryle. Kyle is really upset because he got out Kyled. Busch questioning how hard someone else drove is quite ironic. Congrats to Ambrose and nice burn out with a wall smack. Nice booth work also. Maybe we have something to look forward to next year.
The Kyle Busch hate in this blog is getting a little ridiculous. Kyle did nothing wrong the whole race, and people still rag on him! Not to mention he made one of the best passes ever in turn 1 at 'The Glen' according to Andy Petree.
@ Vicki D
Remember what Joey Logano said: "Stupid can't be fixed. It's forever."
Sure, he wasn't referring to some of the pit reporters, but it still fits. :-)
Ryan McGee of ESPN thinks Logano should give up racing and write slogans for t-shirts and bumper stickers.

This is no different than the real world. Have you heard the crowd at the tracks?
Let's get back on the TV trail, we know these kind of rivalries and incidents are important to NASCAR in terms of publicity and TV ratings.
Should be interesting to see if this carries over to Sunday since both Kyle and Marcos are in the race.

I caught the last 13 laps of the race. After reading the comments, I'm sorry I missed the race.
I did see the replay of Marcos and Weed. Talk about karma for Weed. I hope there's more of that tomorrow and for Denny too.
@ VickyD, thanks for thinking of me.
Sorry, JD.
Back on topic ---
Not once did I even consider listening to the radio. I even left the computer to get closer to the TV to watch a race.
The guys in the booth worked well together.
Why isn't there a fixed camera at calamity corner where Leffler wrecked yesterday and Joey wrecked today?
One Hundred times better than Punch, but I'm still not sold on the new guy. Hopefully he'll grow on me.
I do have one complaint, the sound of the cars on the track was terrible! If you closed your eyes during the broadcast, you wouldn't have been able to identify it was a car race on television. It was just an annoying clutter of sounds, not like race cars. What ever happened to when a car went by a camera, it would go from your left speaker to the right?
The only time it resembled a car was in the in-car camera shots. We not only need great pictures, but need great sound as well.......
2 things. I have to admit I wasn't fully paying attention to the broadcast, but it seemed like ESPN had a script and they stuck to it. Only follow about 5 drivers for the whole race. When they did wake up and went past 10th place, they talked about 3 cars while skipping over the 91. Probably because they were surprised to see it on the track. But the car was completely ignored, except for some screen time from an in-car camera shot from the car behind it.
Second thing, if Kyle made the same move as Marcos did, the announcers probably would have said it was the greatest move ever.
Man those Pontiacs run great.
91 and 87 top 20 all day long. But never heard about the 91. Almost proves it's better for them to just park it.
Many cars looked like a short track race busted out.
Opinions on drivers are like opinions in general. Everyone has one. One driver could do the same thing as another, one is the villian one is just racing.
Coverage was great.
Pretty good coverage until the
next to last lap and they go to
a replay. Useless!!!!
