Live Blogging Sprint Cup Series From Martinsville (FOX - 12:30PM ET)
The topic today is supposed to be racing but instead it is tires. Goodyear and NASCAR made a change in the tire compound used at Martinsville and the results have been nothing short of a mess.
NASCAR told the drivers this morning in their meeting that they would be cleaning the track all day under the caution flags. This is a result of seeing what happened in the truck series race on Saturday. Any truck that got out of the single groove on the track got into the rubber "marbles" and was done.
This morning, NASCAR VP Robin Pemberton told ESPN's Marty Smith that this issue was going to result in "old school racing" where teams would simply have to conserve tires and decide on strategy based on wear. Pemberton said he hoped Goodyear might test over the summer at Martinsville before the next race.
Chris Myers will lead Darrell Waltrip and Jeff Hammond in the NASCAR on FOX pre-race show from the outdoor studio set-up on the Martinsville backstretch. It should be interesting to see how Waltrip handles the Goodyear topic.
Myers has been challenged to leave his tired act of being the confused clown and step-up to the plate as a sophisticated broadcaster. Now well into the season, Myers can make a big difference in the telecast if he allows the on-air presence he uses on other programs to emerge.
Mike Joy, Darrell Waltrip and Larry McReynolds are up next to call the race. McReynolds has been pushed into the background by FOX, starting with the network stopping his "Reach up and pull those belts tight" comment before the race. It's clearly all Waltrip all the time and that is what we should see again.
Waltrip has a long history at Martinsville and there should be plenty of personal references to his own success at this track. Now in his tenth season of NASCAR on FOX, Waltrip has started to put the spotlight on himself more than the drivers in the race. Perhaps this is a function of age, but it is clearly about him a lot more than it has been in the past.
The FOX challenge today is going to be commercial breaks. With short laps at Martinsville under green, every two or even three minute commercial break is going to seem like an eternity. Without RaceBuddy or a side-by-side commercial format, look for viewers to get hot early and stay hot about this issue.
Steve Byrnes, Matt Yocum, Krista Voda and Dick Berrgren are the pit reporters. Tires should be a primary issue, but pit strategy is going to be another race key. Martinsville is also famous for upset drivers, so keep an eye on which drivers that have fallen out of the race are interviewed.
Without using the high cameras on top of the tower, Martinsville makes little sense on TV. In-car cams and low angle shots under green do not show the positions on the track or what cars are racing for what positions. Aerial shots of this track also work very well showing positions, especially on restarts.
The finish line issue continues to be a hot one. Last week it was the winner only, although the second and third place cars just happened to sneak into that shot. At a short and flat track like Martinsville, accidents are known to happen long after the winner has crossed the line as the rest of the field battles to the finish.
FOX has been put in the position before or having to actually playback the lead lap cars finishing after putting the cameras only on the winner, his crew chief and his pit crew as the race finished. Keep an eye on this issue.

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 400 of 403 Newer› Newest»I "Sim Race" at Iracing.com (not a plug) I like to watch races on Iracing as much as I can, because believe it or not, there is some good racing on that website! When I watch a race, I ALWAYS watch from the blimp and even zoom out from the blimp so I can see most of the racetrack at once, and therefore be able to focus on what I think is the best battle on the track. This is the best way to watch a race. But, I've come to accept that TV will never present this view.
Check our earlier comments on Myers and you can use the search button on the front page to look at our other articles on him since 2007.
Our money was on Krista Voda replacing him this season but it did not happen.
Voda is the most underused talent in the SPEED/FOX group.
Can't believe they are wasting this time with nonsense.
Pardon my french here JD, but what the hell. Why are they showing the concession stands in the infield and then taped driver interviews during the red flag? Where are the crew chief interviews? Why not talk about the tire issue and if it's getting better or not. This is not gonna keep me watching.
I cannot wait for when TNT has their races.
Ironic, since the only way I can tolerate the Fox Racing Show™ is with a bottle in front of me...
Tracy, I here you and respect everything you said. You make fan #2 that has ever been to a race here.
Mr Editor.
Replays are also common in football and every other sport on TV.
How can anyone expect to see every foul, or holding call, "live" when you are covering a big football field. A race track is even bigger with twice the players on the field.
The replays are a necessary tool.
What does Goodyear say about their tires. Now would be a good time to interview someone from Goodyear.
@becky...repeat after me..." there is no tire problem...there is no tire problem"...just because they blow out way before they used to, nascar says there is not a problem. I may believe them...NOT!
I'm happy with the coverage this week. Didn't tune in until one hour in, and as always, using the radio for sound.
For this track, the in-car cams can be useful and give you a feel of what its like. The out the windshield view is useful, I've never seen any value in the rear bumper cams.
Even the gopher cam gives me a good feel for the action but I think we only need it once every hundred laps.
The shot from the tower/blimp is best and they've been using it a lot today. I'm seeing more than the usual one/two cars in tight shot.
I think the size of the track works to Fox's benefit and plays to their style. The previous races have been much worse.
I just listened to talk between DW and Kyle Busch. Boy, marriage certainly seems to agree with Mr. Busch. I thought he'd be ticked about the way Bowyer roughed him up, but he just appeared to shrug it off. Amazing stuff.
BC, it's easy, Instead of using in-car cameras and tight shots of the leaders, use wideshots and show us the racing.
I appreciate your candor, but it's going to be a long day for you. FOX says it does this so it looks good on big HDTV screens.
They are happy to replay what actually happens and stick to showing the color and "drama" live.
We have been going at it with them over this issue while ratings have been falling since 2007.
If this was working, you would be seeing the results in the ratings. Instead, FOX comes in and makes a big deal out of the Daytona 500 and just plays with the rest of the races and then leaves.
They think making it like a video game with lots of "action shots" is what will keep viewers.
They paid the money and can do what they want. Does not mean it makes sense or I have to like it.
Don - what race are you watching? I've seen 1-2 blimp shots total.
JD, why didn't FOX show more commercials under the red flag so there are less under green?
Don, thank you! You nailed it with your positive outlook.
Becky, I think the Hot Dog story is a cool part of this race Track.
Why not show some fans having a good time. It's good for the sport. It's better than complaining about it.
CBSSports: The Final Four on CBS received its highest ratings since 2005. Butler-VCU got an 8.3 rating. UConn-Kentucky got a 9.5 rating.
Wow, those are pretty stout numbers.
Busch, it's broadcast and not cable. Rotation is hourly.
bleacher, replays are fine when they are used appropriately, as a tool, as you've noted. however, when they become the actual style of coverage of an incident, they stop being a tool with which to explain or clarify a moment. fox has resorted to using every camera they have at their disposal but unfortunately, that rarely includes the one that shows a big view of any track.
this is a short track and is extremely easy to cover correctly if the individuals in the truck see that as a priority. the continued use of sharp camera cuts, wall cams, in-car cams and replays indicates to me that what i want from a race broadcast is something that fox has chosen to not show.
and once again, continuing to be arrogant about who has/hasn't attended races is unnecessary -- among other adjectives.
Just saw some still pics of those two cars. Most torn-up COT's I've seen in a long time...and at Martinsville!
It seems to be that, if you want fans to desire to go to the track and attend a race in person, it behooves you to make the TV broadcast as exciting as possible. That's why I finally attended a race in person, and continued to do so for several years. Those of us whao HAVE attended in person know exactly what we're missing. Those who have never been aren't likely to decide to go to a race after watching on TV.
Enjoying the race, the pictures on fox are far better than the ones on mrn. Also the interviews during the red flag with the drivers were interesting. I am easy to please though, as I am a simple person.
Bummer for B Lab!
batchief, not to mention retired! I am trying my best to join you.
Good pit reporters during the red flag.
Good replay that showed the chain reaction leading to the crash.
Can anyone tell me how to refresh the comments on an iPad? I have to return to the original post, so far.
really gonna miss pit stops again ??
awful timing for commercial break !
Well, it was nice while it lasted BC. Have fun.
This is my blog and you are free to roam the Internet.
Have a nice day.
Tracy, trying to get a deal to change things around for next season but right now it's still awkward on an iPad. Sorry.
OT - snowing here pretty good right now.
Retired for the most part is good. These winters in Iowa can be pretty confining sometimes, unlike the ones in Florida I would imagine.
@JD
That was mean. The esteemed David Hill takes time out of his incredibly busy schedule to stop by and chat with us, and you drop the ban-hammer on him...
Time for that travel trailer and some movement south!
Getting ugly out there and a long way to go yet.
WOW WOW WOW THEY CAUGHT A WRECK WOW WOW WOW IM SO SURPRISED!!!!
I'm glad I have race view...
I just listen to the scanner, turn the tv down, and pretty much watch my driver the whole race on the puter...
Good stuff...
You can do anything you want except make it personal.
Been around too long for that.
We're not even to Halfway yet..
Mercy...
They use in-cars so much they don't know which one to use. To show us how the wreck happened they go to McMurray's in-car, which doesn't even show the wreck.
Got nothing to do with that BC and you know it.
Last weekend ESPN had a great race. Go back and read our comments.
Try reading some comments from the truck series or the Mods.
You are just a person with an agenda and you never spoke to the issues once.
Go away and stay away from my blog.
YAYYYYYYYYYYYY DIIGGGGER CAM
Can't believe we aren't past halfway yet. Time to take a break.
Going to be a long way with this type of racing. Nice that blown tires have not been a real issue.
While I understand the frustration many of you express about the coverage, some of you I think are taking things to the extreme.
At times, the camera angles ARE too tight. But if they pulled out too far, you'd have a whole different group of people complaining that they can't see which car is which. It's just a big group of cars, and they can't find their favorite driver because the camera is too far away. This isn't how I personally feel, just playing Devil's Advocate.
Also, for those complaining about not catching a crash live. There are 43 cars (or thereabouts) on track, the only way they can guarantee catching a crash live is by doing nothing but showing the entire track from the blimp, and even then, there would be no way you could identify which car was which. Sure, they are missing crashes they shouldn't (like what just happened with the 11 and 48). But to expect them to always catch a crash live, especially on a track like Martinsville where it's a continuous line of cars around the track, is really just silly.
So again, I do understand the frustration with many aspects of the broadcast, but some of you guys I think are just asking for a bit much.
Busch you didnt get enough of a break w the red flag and all these cautions??? LOL Im ready for some racing
Can't do, too many father grandfather obligations here in the corn state with youngest daughter and her family. Do get to OK and PA to see my two nomadic kids once or twice a year though.
The whole idea is to strike a balance. Not be one way or the other to the extreme.
It's what TV folks get paid to do. We see it on pro sports on TV all the time.
When Gordon took the lead why did they zoom in on Gordon's hood. Zooming out would of told a better story.
Sorry BC, you insult me and you are done. Take it down the road pal.
Lots of email asking if FOX slowed down the ticker today. Looks like it.
And I hate this slowed ticker. It takes me forever to find out where my favorite is.
Also got a "no go" on changing the ticker background colors on both FOX and SPEEd. Some are tough to read and also changing sponsors makes it nuts sometimes.
Oh great. We get to ride shotgun? We haven't done that all race already?!
Wow! See that triple split?
I wish when they used the hood or bumper cams they would not move the camera as you are watching. You don't know if the car is sliding out or the camera is moving.
RaceBuddy would really help this effort. What it comes down to these days is choices.
I have seen enough of Martinsville through a windshield. Are these people mentally ill? What possible benefit from a television industry perspective can there be for this practice?
If I hear one more story or claim about Martinsville Hot Dogs, I'm going to scream...The BEST hot dogs are from the Chicago area...Boz Hot Dogs.
@Kevin:
Please tell me you use the in-car view to race...
RE: triple split ... they need to do that more often. I thought I was seeing things for a minute.
(And yes ... a positive comment from me on the FOX coverage. They're few & far between. LOL)
Triple split was very nice! More of this please
Has anyone had trouble with Nascar.com today?
I click on my bookmark and get a flash of the page, then it disappears. This is very frustrating as I was looking to listen to the scanner.
Had to work until 03:00 and come home to this!
This track used to be one of the prettiest on the circuit - there would be azaleas in bloom (of course the race was run mid april not late march or early april as they do now - I still think it's part of NASCAR's effort to kill off the smaller tracks.
BTW, Bleacher, I too am old enough to remember the WW of sports broadcasts when a mention was all there was. AND usually I'd be at Martinsville but this year I had a family emergency that didn't allow me to travel so I'm stuck trying to watch the race thru the camera work of someone else.
Once in a while they screw up and actually show me the race.
And as far as I know, I pay for cable TV, just like I pay for my high speed internet and I pay for trackpass -- all so I can try and enjoy the races.
I finished adjusting the valves and changing the oil on my motorcycle and got back to the TV at lap 246. I read through and saw several entries alluding to the free coverage of the race. Even if you get Fox over the air, the coverage is not free. We are forced to watch the commercial as payment for watching the race. They reward you when you sit through a commercial presentation at a time share. Our payment for watching the race by suffering through commercials has gotten more expensive in recent years because of the increase in the number of commercials.
I don't think we get anything free.
The best hot dogs @ Martinsville are the Carolina hot dogs! No doubt!
Terri,
NASCAR.com is not working today with several browsers that recently updated.
FireFox is one. Chrome, IE and Safari seem to be safe.
Been talking to those guys all day. They are pulling their hair out.
Here ya go JD, talk about getting "younger fans" more interested.
This just happened....
My 9 year old, who has been pulling for the 27, Paul Menard asks
"Dad, what happened to Paul Menard? They showed him going to the pits. what happened?"
Larry Mac did mention that the 27 is in the garage with a hole in a "ole line".
But what happened to the good old report from the garage ?
He is 7th in points, clearly a consistent competitor in 2011, and FOX simply gives a short mention.
See, a 9 year old fan would learn a lot more and at least get a visual explanation if the would take time for a garage reporter and a brief report.
No tire problems at Martinsville.
Last night I couldn't access nascar.com local tracks webpage there was an error message saying it had too many logged on already.
No yellow... amazing.
@terri - it won't work today with Firefox, so try IE. People told me that & I've had no trouble.
Ken, I used to watch with my neieces and they loved their drivers. Now, they have all left.
They just told me it was boring. Not a good sign. We need some online stuff fast and it needs to be free.
May as well ask again, since it got missed. Does anyone know what the country song in the new NASCAR commercial is? I do like it.
Also, I've gone to Pocono twice and Dover once for races. I'd love to go to Pocono again. It's a great experience. There's nothing that FOX has really done wrong. I don't think my only local radio station covers NASCAR anymore. No offense, but its better than ESPN. Mike Joy deserves the award he got. :)
I guess Casey Mears isn't worth screen time to show how he wrecked...
Lame...
Buschseries61 - Sorry, I was making lunch then catching up with comments.
Yes, I'm still satisfied with TODAY'S coverage. There's a lot of stuff I don't like with Fox's coverage but I think many of you are settled into a mindset that you can't see your way out of.
I don't agree with Larry McReynold's view that we should only discuss the positive, but the same negatives are getting tiring.
As we all know, Fox relies on special cameras much too often. We've been complaining about it for a couple years and apparently they don't intend to change.
Wide shots would work much better if the paint jobs didn't change from week to week. I sometimes have trouble identifying the cars even in tight shots. More casual fans can't keep up with the action when their chosen car is a different color each week.
In addition to identification problems, having a new sponsor every week means that the network is taking payola to make sure that sponsor gets a certain amount of close up coverage. Thus, more tight shots.
I miss the ESPN coverage of the late Eighties but we'll never see simple race calling again.
Actually calling the race would
Oh my Gosh! Is this really a thru the field? 2/3 of the way thru the race? Finally?
@Roadgeek - I have no idea - if you type it as a question over at Ask.com it should give you the answer or a link to a site that will tell you. It answered my trivia question for me
ADAM -
that song is performed by:
ZAC BROWN BAND
Thanks, JD, for the info. I tried the site on IE and Chrome. Will see if Safari can pick it up.
When I complain about tight shots I mean seeing just one or two cars.
Zooming out to me means seeing 5 or 6 cars at a time. From this view you can still see the numbers on the cars.
Nice format for green flag stops. Leader and the box.
Geez, Busch was really amazingly fast compared to the rest of the field. He was halfway around the track from where they showed the 2nd place car.
It took me a minute, JD to realize what they were doing with the split screen, but yes, that is a good idea with the green flag shots.
88 pitted and they never showed him even though he was a top 10 car.
JD, if anyone asks, I WAS able to get Nascar.com up on Safari. No-joy on Chrome and IE.
I am now a happy woman, listening to Big Earl and Chad.
Other than that....FOX is my enemy today.
Kevin, that was strange about the 88 pitstop and I am NOT a Junyah fan
See now that's a good shot of the track and the action. I realize it's a replay, but why can't they do that for more of the broadcast?
I know the answer to that, they don't WANT to. I swear I think Fox is trying to drive the value of NASCAR down so that when the 2014 negotiations begin they can cut their offer.
Of course, that assumes there are any fans LEFT to care by 2014.
Schrader! He is on NASCAR Now Monday with Benson and Craven.
Charlie -
You either have a much bigger TV than I or much younger eyes. With these graphic intensive paint jobbs, I can't read the numbers if they zoom out to more than 4 cars.
Not saying they shouldn't zoom out most of the time, but we're a long way from simple one/two color paint jobs that you could recognize from across the track.
Yellow?
I don't care for the ticker saying how many laps to go if the announcers talk about laps as how many have been run.
They say so and so pitted at lap 256 and you look up at the ticker and you see laps to go.
I know this is picky but what the heck.
Marty Smith is tweeting every word that voldemort says to weasley -- I just tweeted back asking him if he was a fan or a reporter?
@Gina24..is that like applauding in the press box?
All season HotPass on DirecTV has been our choice every week.
Sometimes 4 or 5 of us watching.
Highly Recommended !!
@Sally -- Exactly!!
Gina-bet he won't answer you back!
If the ticker was any slower it would be going backwards.
apparently I made Marty mad, too, he just told me to quit following him if I didn't like what he was reporting.
I really like the fact that these so called professionals are so unprofessional to the fans.
Don I agree about the color of the cars and how they change a bit.
Back when a car stayed the same and you could pick that car out if they zoomed from the moon.
Speaking of that, it was nice to see Terry Bowles back in action this week.
There is almost never a need for the cockpit cam. Especially that one that shoots up from the footwell. And the one they always show of the winner after the checkered flag is superfluous as well. We already know that he's pleased.
PammmH, of course he did, he is mad cuz I commented. I told him he was a little sensitive -- his answer was no, real. My next question was to ask if he reports anyone else's radio? If not, that seems like he's playing favorites to me. No answer to that, yet.
Kind of nice to have our old troll back. Still working on spelling body parts and stuff....
JD, yes,. it's nice to have Tom Bowles back on line. That whole thing was really a crock!
HAY! The blimp just showed up!not logenough to show the restart.
JD, I agree, it was nice to see Tom's column again.
It's funny that these guys who tweet think it's OK for them to play favorites and no one's supposed to notice. To me, it's the same as when the broadcast booth is doing it.
They finally pull the shot back only to cover it with a useless graphic!
Nice driving for Newman not to hit anyone or anything!
Thank good for the radio. While you folks got ten laps of close-ups on Gordon & Busch, I got a rundown on the battle for 17th-20th, up to the front for the pass, then down to the race for 10-15th place.
question for all of you - anyone else follow Marty on twitter - he says he's been reporting more radio traffic than just the 48's -- I didn't sign on til halfway thru the race -- true or false for marty dear?
has it been 40 laps already? Another flat tire...
Those tight shots on our 50" are making me dizzy. They won't have time at the end of the race to interview anyone.
I recommend Troll-Away...
@Gina - no Marty has been mixing it up all afternoon. He covers in spurts. If he gets interesting stuff he stays fora bit - if not he moves on. You must have missed his chat about Goo food LOL
@Gina - Marty Smith has been commenting on a few others besides JJ. Check his feed. IMO - they do sound like they are best buds with ALL of the drivers at times.
Seen way too much of that gopher cam.
Like I said, five times a race is good. Five times an hour is bad.
Pretty good info from Jeff Gluck at the track: Goodyear says there have been six melted beads due to excessive braking, a couple cut tires due to contact...other than that, all good.
Cool, thanks guys. I've always liked Marty -- glad to hear I was wrong about it.
He's at the track and we're not, I am bummed!
Don, too much is bad even without the gopher!
back to the cake boss for commercials. I refuse to watch the commercials.
they seem to be using a little less in car as the race winds down or is that just wishful thinking on my part?
Radio still has play-by-play through this whole commercial break. Bussch is in the lead.
Ya think NASCAR doesn't have any competition today.....
I ALMOST drove to Martinsville today,but....
I wouldn't have made it back in time for WRESTLEMANIA !!
YAAAYYY DIGGER AGAIN!!!!! ITS BEEN TOO LONG !!!
Make up your mind. It's either "home-boy" or "road-dog"...
awww, our troll is now a dog!
Darn it, JD. You killed the post and made my responce even more irrelevant than usual...
@slander -- I got it - LOL
Darn, we had a wide shot to see if Gordon can catch up and commercial.
What a teaser.
29 and 88 are coming up through the field with tires and no coverage.
I really have to question the commercial spacing today. We went about 45 laps, even through a caution period, without commercial. But now they only went another 20 laps and right back into commercial.
What do we always say? Please don't feed the trolls.
This applies even when you are bored out of your mind watching in-car cameras on a short track for four hours!
If the trolls think this blog is so insignificant, why do they spend so much time hating on it and JD?
Makiki
Honolulu
Hawaii in the house! Hey!
I like the long shot down the straight. It shows me how they are handling into the corner. Wish we saw that more often.
Glad to see Fox waked up Im digging this coverage past the half way mark, much much better we've had a lot less in car cam shots, much more blimp and wide shots!!! GReat JOB FOX GREAT JOB Keep it up this is what its all about
I would love to see FOX promote that "the last 50 laps will be commercial free" !
Business is about to pick up !!
Man, lots of green cars on the track today!
I'm back, happy to see them going through the top 15. Racing seems kinda boring, they're riding around until its time to go.
Sorry, JD, sometimes its just too hard to resist and the troll looked really hungry!
I'm pretty impressed with how NASCAR has managed to keep the race green with so many cars bouncing around onthe track.
Regan Smith doesn't get any respect from FOX. Mike Joy just said he's been on the lead lap all race! Then to the next car behind him.
Anon 4:51 - you're all on your own with that one, bud.
I'm hungry.
I think we are seeing wider shots more often and that is good.
Maybe the troll is really the Bronx Zoo Cobra funning with JD & us.
NASCAR can afford to keep the race green. It's a short track with lots of close racing.
If it were a speedway with one car six lengths ahead, they'd call debris cautions every 50 laps to bunch up the field.
Almost guaranteed that we get a yellow with 10-15 to go. Just out of habit.
Vicky, that was so much fun on Twitter. Whoever did that had a great sense of humor.
Occurred to me it might be a PR stunt, but the zoo swears it was not.
Gina, you planning on troll casserole for dinner?
LOL, no, although I understand that with a little ketchup they are quite tasty
Kind of weird this ad suggesting live video on the Sprint phone of the races.
Got some email on that one the first couple times it aired.
JD, those cobra tweets were so clever! That person also had a great sense of humor and famous people were answering "her", Michael Bloomberg, Martha Stewart for a few I saw! There's also a contest to name her. I entered my idea of a good name.
Heading into the closing laps - Kryle and JimBot, with Happy creeping up on them. When have I seen this before?
Got my NEW Sprint phone last week...
really like the NASCAR options on race day !
2 thumbs up !
40 laps to go. 460 in the books.
DW said nobody has had any issues with the tires?
Watching 29 on HotPASS....
29 radio says they can go on gas until 14 to go.
None of their favorites have had any tire issues, anyway.
daggone it, that caution cost Gordon big time
Mr Editor -
must be seeing things ...double vision ...two splits at once? ...somebody must've hit the button twice LOL ...like that work
Walter
Good follow up on the 48 speeding on pit road.
JimBot speeding penalty. There goes the only chance of my fantasy team getting any worthwhile points.
#14 Tony is reporting a gear shift grind or a drive shaft failure could happen. Its grinding & vibrating like *stuff* on radio with Darren.
Man they threw that green flag quick the back of the pack wasn't even caught up.
wait, Weasley made a mistake? Or did Voldemort miscalc where the timing lines were?
Is Junyar helping Kyle with his drafting for Dega?
ok...
Larry and DW shut up !!
Bye Bye Good Luck Loooossseeerrrr
I wonder if Kyle is worrying about having Happy behind him?
Sorry I'm late to the party --- I've been watching TV with the radio giving me the actual race.
Texas is back in the house. LOL
15 to go.
This is good racing!
Wow, if Kyle loses the race again after having the best car, how unhappy will he be? And rightfully so.
I hope Jr keeps the lead or NASCAR will have to call a debris caution to get him to the front again.
if they raced like this before 50 to go, empty seats wouldn't be a problem
I'm not a Jr fan, but he has done a good job on the track with the car, so I'm not faulting him. Although I'm still rooting for Harvick or Gordon to win. LOL
Mr Editor -
Think we'll hear DW's orgasmic call, "Way to go June Bud"?
Walter
Just don't let Jr wreck before the finish!!!!
We need ALL wide shots now. None of that bumper crap
oops, "June Bug" ...oh well, he's gotta work for it now
Buschseries, you are right. it's been a big problem evern since the chase came into play.
Even AT the track, that can be a bore. I darned near went to sleep at the spring race at Dover last year.
Nice driving by everyone...and Jr hung in there over Shrub!
Almost got more than the first four cars over the finish line.
Wish we had this all day
Great racing
Congrats to all the Harvick fans!
Good recovery by Gordon to get back to 5th! Nice job by Harvick for the win.
There ya go! Another one in the books for FOX.
We have the TV Police post up for your comments before you head out the door.
Should be interesting to see what they do for post-race here.
Hmmm. Harvick is 'Back in Black' and inspired driving. just sayin'.
Three cars finished?
Nice REPLAY of the finish.
Wonder who made the call to replay a wideshot of the leap lap cars racing to the finish?
I would rather see all cars cross the finish live and see the winner in-car and crew celebration on replay. Instead of the reverse. Makes more sense to me.
At one time, the last car you wanted to see right behind you on the last laps was big E. Harvick has continued that tradition.
When Earnhardt and Kyle were coming to the finish line I was screaming - Don't pull away to another shot.
Lol that finish, followed by a replay perfectly summed up FOXs coverage
FOX:
Thank you for the replay of the finish!!!!
Makiki
Honolulu
AP reporter, Jenna Fryer tweeting from the press box when Earnhardt took the lead, "there was some loud cheering in the press box".
Wonder if that debate will be revisited?
Watching a blimp shot of Happy & company waiting for Fox to come back from commercial so they can celebrate. Waiting... waiting... waiting...
Say what ya want...
MY GUY WINS !!
Two weeks in a row, it was the DRIVE of the race....deserves the coverage !
If you're guy finished 20th... ya better get up on the wheel
Nice REPLAY of the finish...too bad they didn't show it live when my excitement was still high.
long long interview with Jr -- too long for 2nd place anyone but Jr and they'd be done in 15 seconds
Plus Jr is really bad at this stuff
Has Earnhardt Jr. entered into a depression recently? It's like he hates to be interviewed
I really hate that commercial for direct TV.
Ken Mi -- congrats!
I noticed that about JR as well. I often wonder why he even bothers showing up, he never looks like he is having fun. It seems like he sees this more as an obligation to his family than anything else
