Tues/Weds. Notes
Just a couple of updates for this week:
Satellite Radio - I will be talking on Wednesday at 5PM Eastern Time with Dave Moody on Sirius Speedway about the pre-season NASCAR TV issues. (Sirius Channel 128)
Site Update - Krista Voda is returning from the AMA Supercross in California and will be answering the questions you submitted shortly. Look for her answers later this week.
Network Note - Thanks to SPEED for adjusting the on-screen logo, showing all the speeds of the cars in each test session, and using the lower third "ticker" on the screen to give fans great NASCAR info in Tuesday's Daytona testing show. It was outstanding. (7PM Eastern all week on SPEED)
AM Sports Radio - This Saturday, I will be on the KFAN Motorsports Show with Chris Hawkey that is based in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. The show is also available all over the upper Midwest. I will be taking phone calls and talking NASCAR TV for a full hour beginning at 1:20 PM Eastern/12:20 Central Time. A podcast of the program will be available immediately after the show at KFAN.com.
Internet/Syndicated Radio - I will be speaking with Paul Kaminski this week for his podcast and syndicated sports radio show on The Motor Sports Radio Network. Podcast info is online at at this link.
SPEED in HD - The network executive in charge of the SPEED HD project is going to give us the scoop on the network's plans later this week. We will pass that info along to you in a column about the entire transition of the network to HD and widescreen format. Don't worry, no one without the HD feed will miss a thing.
Thanks for taking the time to let us keep you updated and for reading The Daly Planet.
Thanks, JD
ReplyDeleteI'll be listening on Sirius today.
ReplyDeleteAppreciate the Speed Channel updates. They did a great job with showing testing. I'm a little curious if anyone is going to interview Kahne on air, about his not guilty plea for battery arrest at Homestead, when he tests at Daytona next week. I think they should, any other star athlete in that kind of situation would have to talk about it at least once, since it said yesterday it may go to trial and the trial date may come out this week. So far he's not commenting.
You might be interested to know that after all the Rhianna/Rihanna (spelling?) controversy that the NASCAR Day spokesman for 2008 is Garth Brooks. Doesn't get more country than that. Unlike Kelly Clarkson, who was the 2007 NASCAR Day spokesman and did Daytona and banquet concerts too, Garth hasn't committed to any NASCAR singing appearance. But if he doesn't it will probably be some country act in his place.
JD, since you don't have Q&A up but were nice enough to ask SPEED about HD after people asked, I have a question:
ReplyDeleteI heard that a film crew has been filming Dale Jr for a few months for an ESPN series about him going to HMS. The crew was "heard" to be in Daytona this week with Jr.
Anything you can tell us about this series would be great, thanks. If not, that's OK, too.
Anon 2:50PM,
ReplyDeleteThere is currently on the ESPN Program Schedule a mysterious timeslot named only "NASCAR Project." It's kind of like the ESPN version of "Area 51."
Since we are still without any official press releases about staff for NASCAR Now, the Nationwide Series, or the Infield Studio host, I think it might be a while before we find out what is going on with Junior.
If anything pops-up, I will certainly let everyone know.
JD
Great job on Sirius Speedway. Thanks so much for all of the follow up you do to the questions asked here. Keep the blog going, we need you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the updates JD. Isn't it nice all the things we griped about Monday were fixed by Tuesday for the next Speed Preseason Thunder. Wow. Too bad fans don't matter to all.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the HD update.
