  1. Great balls of fire! there is another live in race blog that is most confusing! You try to read it and some stupid sound effects shuffles the posts to the bottom..impossible to read or am I missing something? I got vertigo and a headache.

JD I AM SO GLAD this place is back for races. If I could, I would email you some chocolate chip cookies with walnuts, oatmeal and unsweetened coconut I made! And I would share with the 'rest of the class'. They go well with milk and or coffee. :-)

Anyway, getting off of here and will return at 5pm.

Thanks again to all who give such great info here.

  2. O sweet Tradin' Paint, how I miss thee...

though NASCAR Smarts was actually almost halfway amusing today, they're at least trying to improve it.

  3. Actually, there was a 60 minute Nascar Now on this AM that was very good. Mike Massaro & Randy LaJoie were the only ones there and worked very well together. Lots of special stories I especially enjoyed the one about Jeremy Mayfield.

  4. I've been analyzing why I have been so dissatisfied with the Truck and Nationwide races this weekend and here it is:

I watch Cup races to see the best of the best in the top flight series. I watch the other series to see up and coming guys & gals. I want to see people developing as they climb the stock car ladder, or how drivers adapt who come from other series.

I never used to watch Trucks or Bush but I started because I had seen Ambrose in Aussie V8s and wanted to see how he did. Then I started to follow people like McDowell, Braun, Speed, Dinger, etc. to see them race. I also enjoy watching the skill of Benson, Skinner, etc.

I recorded the Truck race at Fontana because I wanted to see how Ricky Carmichael did as well as Braun and Papis. But I ended up fast-fast forwarding through the entire race because Kyle Busch stunk up the race. Kyle is a top, top racer and his skill level is way higher than his developing Truck competitors. If I went to a regional tennis tournament and Roger Federer showed up and slaughtered everyone, it wouldn't be enjoyable to watch and wouldn't prove anything about Roger's skill level.

After looking at the entry list I didn't even bother to record the Nationwide race. The Nationwide guys don't stand a chance of winning, maybe they can compete to see if they finish in the top ten of a race.

I know this isn't a broadcast problem, but a Nascar problem. But, if viewers are like me, they will tune in less and less and it will become a broadcast ratings issue.

I watch many types of 2 wheel and 4 wheel racing and you just don't see the very top guys playing down in the "minor leagues" except in Nascar.

  6. Wow, Jimmy's language is unbelievable. I usually don't get to watch much of Raceday, now I see that is for the best. My 8 year old son is learning some words I would rather him not use.

  7. @Vicky D--yes it was a very nice segment on Jeremy :).

@Nan S--unfortunately you didn't miss a thing by FF the Kylie Show. They mentioned Ricky a few times and the only time they mentioned Mad Max was at the end to announce he had a top 10 finish :(.

@JD--yes I am...it does seem a bit odd. It's battle of the channels...do those without a dual tuner or TV in another room recording, leave NRD or head over to Fox now?
