Live Blogging Sprint Cup Series from Las Vegas On Fox

There is a new post up for your comments on the Las Vegas race. Thanks.

Get ready for what may be one of the best races of 2009 when all is said and done. If the Nationwide Series race from Saturday is any indication, the Las Vegas track is fast and the Cup action is going to be furious.

Chris Myers hosts the pre-race show from the Hollywood Hotel beginning at 3:30PM ET. He will be joined by Darrell Waltrip, Jeff Hammond and Digger. Amid the stories of this event, Digger will once again have a featured cartoon episode.

There are all kinds of stories throughout the field with the engine problems of Toyota, the struggles of Dale Earnhardt Jr. and joy of Max Papis who made the race on time. This should be a field day for the NASCAR on Fox pit reporters Krista Voda, Dick Berggren, Steve Byrnes and Matt Yocum.

Mike Joy will call the action with Waltrip and Larry McReynolds alongside. The green flag is scheduled for 4:46PM ET.

Pleas join us in the comments section as we talk about the TV coverage of this race. Just click on the comments button. This is a family-friendly website, please refrain from foul language or hateful speech.

Thanks again and happy posting.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 56. Calm wind becoming southeast between 6 and 9 mph.

Here is today's DirecTV Hot Pass (free) line-up:

    795 - Kasey Kahne
    796 - Denny Hamlin
    797 - Dale Earnhardt, Jr.
    798 - Carl Edwards

I hope the audio mix is improved today.

Interesting note: NASCAR.com lists the green flag time above the fold.

  7. Wow, certainly some interesting content on the Fox program today.

  8. I turned on Fox just in time for another bleeping cartoon.

    Click back to RD

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  9. That digger cartoon was painful

    ReplyDelete
  10. I knew I shouldn't have left RD early. Pathetic Fox, simply pathetic.

    ReplyDelete
  11. PRN- way better than a cartoon! Mark Garrow and Doug Rice are funny without dumbing things down. Hooray!!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Ahhhhhhh......this must be why Chris was seen in the garage yesterday :p

    ReplyDelete
  13. Hey Sophia. I did the same thing. I almost lost my cookies.

  14. that digger cartoon is painful..bad voices, cheap lame writing, and redundant worn out animation(I clicked back during Stremme interview)

    It's SO UNORIGINAL!!!

It's as 'generic' as a cartoon can get. but the UNINTERESTING sing song voices were unreal. Heck they should've gotten some NASCAR stars to talk in it or somethin. Put Tony Stewart's voice as Digger and give Digger a 'tude..and well, never mind. :)

    CARS it is not.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I didn't have room to tape the prerace. Didn't even have the option of shortening the time. Good for me that I missed the cartoon, I kept it on RD.

Just heard Myers say you can bet on Digger sightings. Don't know if was kidding because he cares, or not.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I'm glad that I decided not to go to Fox until green flag time.

I'm hoping for a good race this afternoon.

    Thanks for being here,JD. :)

  17. Rats!!! just walked into room and MISSED JG INTERVIEW.

are these interviews ONLINE anywhere? I can't believe I missed this...sigh...shoulda stayed tuned once the cartoon was over I guess.

Might I find this on some Fox link?

  18. I didn't turn over to FOX until RD was over --- just to be sure I didn't see a rodent.

    Good interview with Jeff G.

  20. Sophia, last wk's interview w/Jr was on Nascar.com on Monday, so you could try there.

  21. thanks PammH.

Off to get something from the library drive thru before the race starts.

be back in a bit. Will check NASCAR.com tomorrow. :)

  22. Just got home after a weekend away. Only saw 30 minutes of the NW race and enough of cup practice to find out who made the race and NO internet access. I came back to a Digger cartoon, sad but thankfully I did see the JG/DW interview. Otherwise I tuned out the rest of the Hotel since they were not saying anything important and remember I said I watched/read next to nothing this weekend and they were still saying nothing. I'll catch up on the stuff I DVR'd some time this week and maybe we'll get the 10 inches of snow predicted and I can do it tomorrow.

On a More Panicked Note I have 2 snow updates for the 30minutes I've watched and it will not get here until 9p. HELP

    ReplyDelete
  23. Horrible track audio during the anthem.

    ReplyDelete
  24. fox philly keeps cutting in during the broadcast to talk about the big snow storm that's coming, twice so far, this time during the prayer

    ReplyDelete
  25. JD when local breaks in for things like it going to snow IN 5 HOURS. DO they look at the main feed to miss commercials/ actice on track like a wreck or pass for the lead or do they just go by the time which means I will get this every 15 minutes

    ReplyDelete
  26. Do the local stations put the race in a second video box or just interrupt it completely?

    ReplyDelete
  27. The anthem started off great, but thought the audio was off at the end. I don't mind the Digger cartoon I thought it was funny. Another Carl's Mom sighting too.

    ReplyDelete
  28. @ dear Sophia, we may even see the interview during the race like last week.

    ReplyDelete
  29. So funny, the crew guy congratulating Max in Spanish! Well, at least its close to Italian.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I Carroll the oldest Grand Marshall? What a legend.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Still a bit tough to kick-off a long race like this at 4:46PM ET.

    I think 8PM is optomistic.

    ReplyDelete
  32. the race is in a second box, but it's narrow, so not the whole picture.

also, the HD feed just switched to the analog feed so the local station could put up a graphic about visiting their website for snow updates. then switched back after that

    ReplyDelete
  33. The race feed is in a little box (and I mean little) box in the upper. With the box being so small it's useless and I have a fairly decent size TV

    ReplyDelete
  34. We got Friends listed at 5pm PT.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Glad to see Carroll Shelby up and about. He missed Barrett-Jackson because he was ill.

    BTW, he's a Texan. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Frontstretch looks pretty full. Check out the seats at turns 3 & 4. Those are the $50 seats not sold since 2006 or 07.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I just lost sound and the picture is freezing.

    via KSWB FOX5 SAN DIEGO

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hey JD, looks like fox is having problems with the feed here. It keeps freezing and un freezing

    ReplyDelete
  39. Am I the only one losing the sound?

    ReplyDelete
  40. No problems Fox outside of Philly

    ReplyDelete
  41. I guess I wasnt the only one. Please list your local stations, this could be a regional thing on the west coast.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Sound and picture is back in San Diego.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Maybe you're right about the SoCal thing. That's where I am, watching on Cox Cable.

    ReplyDelete
  44. lmao...look at that huge digger

    ReplyDelete
  45. I guess Fox has a right to have a mascot just like football, basketball & other sports. Most speedways also have a mascot. It is cute for the kids.

As long as we don't miss any of the racing action to a cartoon I can live with Digger.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Did Arnie forget to put audio in for races in the budget? Just kidding.

    ReplyDelete
  47. oh dear god! i literally JUST turned on the TV tp a screen full of digger's face.
    i despair.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Loosing sound and picture, should be a long afternoon.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Very interesting...Looks like this is indeed a regional thing. I am on COX Cable to in SoCal

AND FOX 5 IS GONE AGAIN!!!!!
    Picture freezing and sound gone.
ANd what a terrible time....right as the crash was happening.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Rare for Fox to have West Coast problems like that, keep us up-to-date please.

    ReplyDelete
  51. lisa foster, CA and Nan S,

Do you mind if I ask if you are in San Diego?

This could be just a COX San Diego thing. If so, a call needs to be made now.

    ReplyDelete
  52. (apologize if this comes through as a double post...had a weird error message then when I went back it claimed to have saved my post but I don't see it :()

@diane--LOL! I know that Portuguese & Spanish sound similar so they can speak to one another. But too funny trying to speak Spanish to an Italian.

    Is something going on?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Cox in Orange County back up and running.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I have HD....it must be your local station. Some are saying it has to do with weather updates.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Oh my! Well this is already an interesting race and it's been what 7 minutes since the GF

    ReplyDelete
  59. guess mattie'll be home before the race is over, huh?

  60. Re anon @ 4:50 pm I live in Los Angeles and watch on Fox11

    ReplyDelete
  61. Glad to hear everything is back up...

Interesting that you are in Orange County. COX systems are usually run separate from each other, so the fact that San Diego is having the same issue is interesting. Now im not sure if its a FOX or a COX problem.

    ReplyDelete
  62. The Fox HD feed is up and running. Where are you seeing the race without it?

Ok, are you watching FOX 11 via cable, satellite or Over the air?

Your answer should determine where the problem is coming from.

    ReplyDelete
  64. This will NEVER be over by 8!

    ReplyDelete
  65. The feed seems to be o.k. for now. Maybe it's also a cable thing. Our cable provider is Charter here in L.A.

I have a feeling this race is gonna be as big of a wreckfest as yesterday's nationwide race.

    Hey, fox, LESS DIGGER PLEASE!!

    ReplyDelete
  66. This race is picking up right where the Nationwide Series left off.

    ReplyDelete
  67. No weather issues in central Indiana...the commercials are not in HD...must be a local issue.....

This race may go all night...

    ReplyDelete
  68. So much for my race today. Marcos is wounded.

    ReplyDelete
  69. For those of us in South Florida, what is the deal with the weather up North? Blizzard?

    ReplyDelete
  70. "Maybe it's also a cable thing. Our cable provider is Charter here in L.A."

hm...Charter....thats an extra variable that I wasnt expecting. Oh well, lets hope its fixed and wont happen again

    ReplyDelete
  71. Its too bad Ambrose had the bad luck to be near Sadler.

    ReplyDelete
  72. JD...unlike the Nationwide race - the story line is Kyle Busch coming from the back.

I realy do not have any confidence in FOX to change from the script.

    ReplyDelete
  73. It's all downhill for me today since one of my favs is having engine issues (Matt). If someting happens to Jeff Burton I think I'll scream.

    ReplyDelete
  74. WRECK and I have a little box, THIS SUCKS

    ReplyDelete
  75. JD, there is a big winter storm moving up the eastern coast. It brought Tornadoes to Alabama one day, and heavy snow the next. As it moves up the coast, they are expecting some areas to get a foot of snow or freezing rain.

    ReplyDelete
  76. wow! major, 90 second weather interruption from fox philly and comcast. the race is in a TINY box on the left side and the snow isn't due until 9PM. time for a quick (but polite) email to fox philly for me.

between this weather event and digger, i might not get to actually see too much of this race . . .

    ReplyDelete
  77. JD, BIIIG swath of snow starting in Atlanta (2-4) and headed all the way up the east coast.

    ReplyDelete
  78. anon 5:01; true about the storm BUT not until some 3 or 4 hours from now and we've been getting lectured about it all day. nothing like trying to work everyone into a frenzy.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Red,
I shouldnt say this, but the race is available live online at a few unofficial sources.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Guess I missed a non wreck and a thru the field for snow that hasn't even hit PA yet. I may have to unpack the wine

    ReplyDelete
  81. looks like they're gonna do the snow updates every half hour, 90 seconds at a time. at least john bolaris apologized this time for interrupting. the race window only shows the middle 3rd of the hd picture in width

    ReplyDelete
  82. There are a lot of stories for the Fox crew to follow like ESPN did yesterday. That is their challenge right now.

    ReplyDelete
  83. hey! is that budweiser logo to the left of the lap counter new?

    ReplyDelete
  84. WoW I listen on radio in the car and Kese crashes, come in the house for another wreck and Kenseth blew up! :( Wow...i was hoping he would do great today or maybe even win.

Sorry for you with SNOW UPDATES..that is so INSANE how big brother FORCES WEATHERMAN to scare us in snow so we can save ourselves...HUGE issue locally so I don't watch much tv, ESPECIALLY LOCAL when weater is bad..school closing graphics on tv for DAYS before snow hits.

    Insanity.

  86. Here in NC we have had sleet & freezing rain since early AM. I lost Speed & few other channels during the PreRace for about 15 minutes. Just a little bad weather shuts us down.

    Been ok since.

    ReplyDelete
  87. J.D.,

My TV management instructor (a station manager at the time) told me all pre-emptions always occur during programming, not commercials, because the network or local affiliate would have to do "make-goods" (free spots).

  88. Should be interesting to see if any of the Fox stations leave later in the broadcast once it starts to snow. Keep us posted.

I asked NASCAR.com to carry a streaming broadcast, but the TV networks are just not ready for that to happen yet.

    Maybe next year.

It will be interesting to see if the NASCAR team planes can land. They should get back from Vegas well after midnight ET.

    ReplyDelete

    think Ustream.tv ...search their site

    ReplyDelete
  92. Because of the snowstorm no race yet on the Greenville, SC station. Errrrr. I know I should be happy to be someplace nice and warm and dry, but this really sucks!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Indianapolis Fox has went off the air 3 times...HD feed.

The standard feed is still on.

    ReplyDelete
  97. red,

    I see nothing!!! (Sgt. Shultz)

The networks are missing the boat on the streaming thing...completely.

    ReplyDelete
  98. thanks, jd, for the selective blindness! as someone who always have several windows open at one time, it amazes me that networks don't see a value in live streaming. seems like this "infra-net thing" may have passed a few folks by.

and hey! look here: my driver is coming in, hit his pit today (!) and isn't speeding -- yet!

    ReplyDelete
  99. Good question about the teams landing late tonite/early morning. Calling for snow later & it will have an ice base.

Have not heard if they have started looking for the snow plow. Storm warnings until Monday 7am.

    ReplyDelete
  100. arrrgghhh. i spoke too soon: "too fast enetring . . ."

    ReplyDelete
  101. Good Point, Teams, drivers and crews will have a tough time going home tonight. I doubt their flights will leave vegas if the weather gets bad in NC.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I don't think the teams will mind being stuck in LV. Couldn't pick a better place. It sucks if it puts them behind though.

    ReplyDelete

I could not believe Jr speeding...sigh...what is it Schrader would say "sorry about your luck"

Man..Jr could use some positive energy..it's getting so I HATE to root for him publicly or even to my ...brother HUGE JR fan...Afraid to Jinx him :(

painful to see him struggle so..wonder what's going on with him mentally sometimes ( I mean that in a caring manner, not a smart aleck way)

Thanks for the onstream information to everybody.

And to JD for missing those posts. :)

    ReplyDelete
  104. J.D.,

I wonder if the networks aren't allowing streaming as a way of protecting their local affiliates. By the way is everyone seeing local commercials? If you see a lot of PSAs or per-inquiry spots (Video Professor, Magic Jack), it means the local affiliate (or in my case, the DirecTV Bay Area sales dept.) isn't able to sell out the coverage.

  105. DP:

They had a blank screen for about 35 minutes, after a local weather insert. Then nothing, not even a station i.d. screen. Finally about 5:20 they got the signal back. Still some breakup on the signal.

You'd think that they would have a fibreoptic cable as back up , particularly if bad weather is expected.

Well, at least I know about ustream now. Thanks for the tip, guys!

    ReplyDelete
  106. They could always stop here in Houston for the night on their way to NC it's 65 and sunny!

    ReplyDelete
  107. "It sucks if it puts them behind though."

Nah, I don't think it will. The Haulers will leave as scheduled and it will probably be sunny by the time those trucks get to NC.

    ReplyDelete
  108. hey kenny? does "gus, the second most popular groundhog in PA" shilling for the PA lottery count as a local commercial?
i think i'm seeing groundhogs in my sleep sometimes.

and hereeeeee's john bolaris w/another radar update.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Signal gone again from Greenville.

    ReplyDelete
  110. WOW! GREAT SAVE by jamie!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  111. OK Zippy and Joey during a green flag run first John and the weather now this. Hey FOX I'm trying to watch a race here

    ReplyDelete
  112. I have alerted National Geographic that we witnessed a gopher jumping a shark on Fox today! :)

    ReplyDelete
  113. ok if you are gonna split screen show more than an IN CAR CAM...sigh...

    I love ZIPPY but honestly.

ok now showing other cars at least.

WHY aren't the CARS the bigger picture instead of person interviewed? Does not make a lick of sense.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Do you think the signal problems are due to your bad weather?

    ReplyDelete
  115. Hi fellow TDPers. It's snowing like blazes in Virginia.
    David Ragan lost his engine?!!

    ReplyDelete
  116. lisa h, you made me laugh right out loud!
TDP comedy tour is alive and well.

and what is up with the engines this year? hendrick last week, roush this week.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Oh Geez! This is going to be a long night :(

    ReplyDelete
  118. This is the history of Roush. Overthinking and doing just one too many things has always bit him.

Ask Mark Martin about that one...

    ReplyDelete
  119. Looks like all the teams have been working on the engine, Hendrick last week, Toyota and Ford this week. Not good

    ReplyDelete
  120. @ Lisa Hogan, too funny.

And they were worried about the Toy engines today.

    ReplyDelete
  121. JD, I think thats what they mean...Local stations are having trouble keeping up with the storm in those regions.

    ReplyDelete
  122. ok if this keeps up, how MANY cars will be running at the end...I feel bad for all having engine problems...tough track.

    ReplyDelete

  131. @ kenny: also a dale fan but . . .
while it makes for interesting speculation, he'll be fine AND . . . if not, nascar will do nothing about it. that's racin'.
(and by the way: he says he was wheel hopping when he came in on that first pit stop and couldn't get the car slowed down.)

    ReplyDelete
  132. or should we say NASCAR jumping the shark.

Again, understand the need for logo but the PRODUCT PLACEMENT person could use some major lessons. :)

How not to aggravate ESTABLISHED race fans.

    Vicky D

those drivers need my ears..i hear things long before everybody else....must have been a dog in another life between my sharp hearing and sense of smell.

My nose would come in handy, too..smelling something off in car engine as DW mentioned.

    ReplyDelete
  133. "but I wonder what NASCAR will do if the 88 can't make the field in a couple of weeks."

What a great Jr. Fan you are being...he is NOT out yet.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Kenn they changed the rules to get Smoke into the Shootout lord knows what they due to keep JR in the races

    ReplyDelete
  135. Sophia, there were only about 26 or 27 running at the end of the Nationwide race yesterday.

No snow in Columbia SC yet, no local break-ins, solid coverage on the HD tier in 25 mph winds. It's not supposed to start snowing here for three or four hours yet.

    ReplyDelete
  136. red

thanks for the wheel hopping comment from Jr...I missed that or you are listening to something somewhere...

    ReplyDelete
  137. Keny Wallace joked about that on RaceDay, saying Mike Helton would immediately change the rule to the top 35 and Junior.

I think everyone has an eye on him and wonders if he is personally OK. Remember the DW interview? He was more like a dad than a reporter.

This race should tell the tale, let's see if they follow the pit road penalty story.

    ReplyDelete
  138. @dot: and just to be accurate: i believe there was another "elite" driver who also missed the chase that year? and for the record? even dale thought it was bogus to move the chase to the top 12 drivers.

    ReplyDelete
  139. nrf,

    ReplyDelete
  144. Anon 5:45:,

  146. JD said (in part):
"I think everyone has an eye on him and wonders if he is personally OK."

yeah. and that's REALLY annoying. whatever it may be, they all ought leave the man be for a while. he'll work it out in his own time and everyone speculating about it doesn't help (not that you are, jd: you're just commenting on what's happening, i understand that.)

sophia: that info came from another site where dale fans "pit" and "stop": they're often the source of solid info!

ok, off my dale soapbox for now. thanks for your patience.

Personally I think he carries the media obsession burden heavier than he let's on..which is why I worry about him. A LOT.

  149. If Jamie Little asked David that question, no doubt there would be 50 posts already bashing her.

  150. no snow here in mount holly nj, just john bolaris telling us there's going to be snow....not sure why we need to be told every half hour.
looks like it might start soon though, looking at the radar

  151. anon @5:53: agreed. it was an "ill-considered" question at best.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Did anyone else think they heard the sounds of frantic scrambling when Matt K's engine blew? The possibility of his winning 3 in a row was their major 'storyline' for the day.

  153. red

I just said the same thing about JR in opposite wording. :)

I worry about him (sorry to say publicly but have for awhile) but WISH the media would back OFF. He can't blow his nose without it MAKING HEADLINES.

    Stremme blows...

hmm... 'somebody' got the Lucky dog/free pass :)

  154. wonder if there was a bit of a missed communication with the #24: almost didn't come down pit road then only took fuel. hmmmm.
maybe one of the pit reporters could follow up for us?

  155. red-I have that window open also every race. Esp when I can't get the scanner to work.

  156. Jamie did quite well yesterday on the outstanding ESPN coverage. She has come a very long way.

  157. im sorry about your weather in the east coast.
I invite you to come out west where it is 80 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. Maybe a little bit of a light breeze too.

I did not hear the scrambling when Kenseth blew, but DO wonder which driver is going to be the BROMANCE this season...so to speak. :)

If it's a certain driver again. . well, never mind.

    ReplyDelete
  159. I wonder if the producer/broadcast team folks set their #1 storyline (Matt) then if something happens then they go to their "B" plan. I'm surprised after all the cooing over Mark Martin yesterday that we haven't really heard his name much today.

Sophia, that was a joke at the expense of the FOX crew.

  161. ok, so i have a race question after watching that pit guy practicing just now: do they always take the lug nuts off in counterclockwise order? is it a personal preference? do the lugnuts come off in one direction and go on in another? anyone know?

    ReplyDelete
  162. red, the lug nuts are no different then anything else you might screw in, such as a light bulb.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Red what ever is faster:). I think DJ Cobb puts them on and off the same direction

    ReplyDelete
  164. Blinkensderfer? Why don't they just called him Blick and be done with it.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Wow, this is an amazing story about the engines. Good stat by Mike Joy. Not one engine failure in this race last season.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Red isn't it like a drill flip the little thingy (technical term ;)and it goes in the opposite direction

  167. Delete the ed on called.

If they have to show Digger, why when there are no cars coming?

    ReplyDelete
  168. anon 6:04: yeah, that's what i always thought. but i realized as i watched him practice that whenever i've seen it, my recollection is that they're always practicing counterclockwise. coincidence, no doubt.

and another engine getting ready to go?

dear god in heaven: espn just tricked me into looking up at the screen when they used their "news alert" tone to tell me that i can get digger wallpaper for my computer! not nice, guys, not nice.

    ReplyDelete
  169. irritating use of the d cam and animation FOLLOWED by graphic sales pitch.

I wonder if the lack of testing is causing issues at this track this year. I was just wondering about that when Mike Joy said this did NOT happen last year.:)

  170. WOW..got a new CONFLICTING error message thing on blogger.

blogger scary lately..blogs disappearing, photo uploader issues..but quickly this resolved itself...i think

    ReplyDelete
  171. Um Red that would be Fox not ESPN

    ReplyDelete
  172. Just think that if you are not computer smart you might think you can get digger wallpaper for your room.

    ReplyDelete
  173. ok, i'm dropping TC the lugnut question on nascar insiders. maybe he'll pick it up for wednesday's column.

    ReplyDelete
  174. "...when they used their "news alert" tone..."

Yeah, that little jingle is normally reserved for news.

Re: Lug Nuts: If you get a chance to walk down pit road before a race, many tracks allow you to by pre-race pit passes, You can pick up some extra lug nuts and take a look. Its really interesting.

  175. Attention FOX executives (if there actually are any executives at FOX)

    Digger came on
I tuened on college hoops at cbs and espn

    not coming back

  177. @ Charlie, good one. Kind of in the same vein as Biden not knowing the number of an email address.

  178. Enough of these Go Daddy commercials. They have no place on a family friendly NASCAR broadcast.

    ReplyDelete
  181. Don't even get we started on Go Daddy, I was with friends and watched a few minutes of practice this weekend and their commercial came on, boy did I have some explaining to do.

    ReplyDelete
  182. I thought this was going to be a wreck-fest and it turned into an engine failure party. Amazing...

    ReplyDelete
  183. With all the engines letting go today, there's hope for Marcos having a good finish.

What is Digger filming? The camera is pointed to the vase next to my TV.

    ReplyDelete
  184. "and it turned into an engine failure party."

Hey a party! JD where are the beverages?

    ReplyDelete
  185. I don't like the Go Daddy commercials either. I wonder how many engines will go south today. Lots of stories for the tv team but I wonder if we'll hear about them.

    ReplyDelete
  186. what is the deal with engine failures? I have seen a plethora of tire issues but everybody gets engines made from different locations, correct?

Could they all be using a bad part? wrong oil.

    This is getting bizarre.

  188. Go Daddy works in cash and that is good for some teams in both NASCAR and the IRL.

I spoke with them a while back and they absolutely are sticking with all of the sexually themed commercials except for Junior and his Nationwide team.

Some of the rejected commercials on the Go Daddy site will really tell you the tale of the company.

Kind of an interesting approach to business.

  190. I have to laugh at the FOX leaderboard. It's showing Mark doing 174mph and Matt about 164. The pic of the track still shows the banking at 12 degrees.

    ReplyDelete
  191. ESPN really did a good job with the "through the field" deal. Sure would like to see Fox pick-up on that theme. That is kind of what is missing. Love to know about Max Papis and the others not in the top 20.

    ReplyDelete
  192. sophia: dw mentioned earlier that the parts that go into the various engines come from the same manufacturers so if a manufacturer of, say, pistons had a bad batch, it "might" get into several different engines in the field.
but it certainly is perplexing. this track hasn't seen such an engine massacre before. i know the tires are "grippier" but i can't figure out how that would effect the engine rpms. . .
