Live Blogging The Sprint Cup Series Race From Richmond On Fox
The umbrellas came out around 5:30PM just as the track was beginning to dry from an earlier shower. The weather radar is showing a group of storms over Richmond, but there is a break in the weather after that line.
The NASCAR on Fox team may be facing a very long night of racing and possibly a delay in the event until Monday.
Chris Myers is up first from the Hollywood Hotel at 7PM. He will be joined by Darrell Waltrip and Jeff Hammond. Look for Talladega aftermath, weather forecasts and a review of the Kyle vs. Junior scenario from last season.
Waltrip moves up and joins Mike Joy and Larry McReynolds if and when the race begins. Joy did monster duty for SPEED on Friday and has to be commended for his performance.
Luckily, Fox has the best crew of pit reporters on TV and hopefully access to the drivers will continue to be available. Slightly before 6PM, NASCAR moved all the cars from the grid to the garage area and put them under cover.
This post will serve to host your comments about the NASCAR on Fox telecast of the Sprint Cup Series on Fox. To add your TV-related comment, just click on the comments button below. This is a family-friendly website, please keep that in mind when posting.
Thanks for taking some time out of your life to stop by The Daly Planet.

«Oldest ‹Older 601 – 720 of 720well, if these guys keep wrecking up there, my driver might actually crack the top 20 at this rate.
I had truex too...
11 got out of shape and it just filtered back. One of them things...
The booth announcers are not looking far enough ahead of the crash, it was Hamlin that started the accordion effect, not Kyle Busch.
@red
laptop only computer I can use for more than a few minutes due to many reasons.
still, my brain gets overloaded.
I turned off MRN as the radio seemed noisy or I am just tired.
Things getting crazy now.
be nice to just RELAX to get the news from the tv.
Isn't that how it used to be? I;ve only been watching since 2004...after NASCAR "went hollywood" I am told
:-0
Can't believe Ingrid cut off all the gorgeous hair.
Shoulda asked her to mail it to me :-)
I'm surprised one of the guys in the booth hasn't said - cautions breed cautions.
@ Jo, but it's "for the children".
Thanks KarenB.

oh, i suspect it'll happen. it's one of dw's favorite sayings.
@Jojaye-
Yep, put all of them with the deer at the next Pocono race :)
Agreed Martin. The look for the one they want to blame. Of course, we're not under pressure to get things right.
Did they ever correct that it was Hornish that cut Harvick's tire and not AJ?
David OBTW Robby Gordon on and off pit road about 5 times, do me a favor Don't mention Jeff or Reut
Talk louder Krista!
Yes. They found the replay off 2 that showed it.
I didnt say a word..
DANG!!!!!!!!!JJ gotta be spittin' nails!!
Guys, I will return in a bit - have to watch the last 5 min. of the Bulls - Celtics.

LOL Dot - yup makes racin' warm & fuzzy - just like the Allisons back in the day.
Sophia there was a time ( back in the olden days) when I would turn the cable box knob, get in the recliner watch the race and know what happened. It was so very long ago, in a contract far far away....
Stremme: "Ask.com Bobby why he did that Roger"
Is there a car that hasn't wrecked tonight? lol Short track bumper cars in full force tonight.
poor Kasey! :(
Stremme's karma just bit him in the butt. Or perhaps my voodoo doll worked. :-)
Actually, you have to hand it to FOX for having so many views for the replay. (I thought I'd just throw that in there since we're supposed to be talking about TV.)
--KarenB
@bevo - that would make a long race/snooze interesting
well, that was just ugly. not even a classy wreck, just another accordion.
@Jojaye
"at a contract far far away"
FUNNY!
and also very sad, isn't it?
Seriously. sigh
@ dear Sophia, ditto to your comment to Jo.
I missed Jimmie got 3 penalties...just saw it on Twitter from Jenna??
What were the penalties.
Mu hubby just diagnosed all our problems w/coverage tonight - we lack his beer goggles LOL
Soph only 2. Speeding and did not start tail end after pitting too early.
I shoulda baked some cookies earlier..this is getting to be a demo derby.
i feel some chilled cookie dough calling. . .
Ok Chris M just said it was HORNISH that took out Happy..not whoever they said while ago (brain fog)
@Sophia- One of the penalties was for re-starting out of position. Not sure what the other 2 were.
Wouldn't it make sense to do a rundown on who has what as far as gas/tires?
OVER 600 comments for this race. MERCY
i think we bout near had 200 before race started.
Chad should be good on TWIN this week...
Bevo
might make sense but why start now?
Jenna seems to TWEET mistakes tonight..wrong Jr comment and now 3 JJ penalties and y'all say only two.
I trust you guys.
:)

sure would.
oh, wait! that's was a rhetorical, wasn't it, bevo?
well, we can hope . . .
DIG AJ!!!!
Still not enough wideshots, this Director may have won awards but he just does not get racing.
Battery is going and so am I
G-nite all
nite, CAM.
sure are seeing a whole lotta of brakes locking up and smoking tonight (and very little notice by the booth.)
(and just to be snarky: that combos scheme on the 18 is ugly. i'm just sayin' . . .)
Sad thing is there is plenty of action going on but we keep getting in-car shots with open track in front and behind the car
If I want to see a car, I rather see the outside and other cars around it. I do not want to see the car from the point of view from a camera in the back of another car. jeez. This broadcast is not getting any better.
Thank you B LaB. Stopped SDDDs momentum.
Red
I LOVE your snarky comment and raise it one.
U G L Y!
(been wanting to comment all night, thanks!)
@red: yes, that combos scheme is really bad. between the color and the patterning, it's quite ugly.
@bevo and jane: agree with both of you. my least favorite camera angles, by far.
Sorry, JD, OT.
-- Jack Kemp, former congressman from New York and NFL quarterback, has died, a family spokesman tells CNN.
I nominate R. Gordon's paint scheme for ugliest of the race.
Aye to the Combo car too.
COunt me in on the camera angles. Mike is yells and I can't tell what is going on because of the angles.
Dot what is SDDD?
Red UGLY absolutely, I don't think I liked last years either

what?!? what happened? i'll be back -- heading over to cnn.
@Robyn - Energizer car should be pink, I don't know who thought fluorescent green was the right choice.
You've got a battle for the lead and what do we see? A shot from a car 10 lengths ahead. Pitiful.
Cuss word, cuss word, cuss word.
The booth seems a little off its game today. I've seen both the bobby and kasey spins before they said anything about it, and I'm only watching the video footage they are providing me...
WAY to many in car cameras. I agree bring back the rear camera decks so we can see whos car we are looking from without the stupid graphics.
Poor Reut. Sorry. :(
OK this just SUCKS all around tonight
He seemed nice, I met him at the tennis event in Rock Creek Park in DC several times.
News is instant now..
jack kemp: cancer. sad.
martin vincent: that green is reminiscent of the go daddy green side panels.
Speaking of Robby's paint job, whatever happened to not painting a race car green? Do they eat peanuts too?
Brian,
Mike Joy was on the air all day yesterday for SPEED. I could not believe he called all the action of practice and qualifying.
He has to be out of gas by now.
@ Nrf, Shruba duba ding dong. Courtesy of hotaru. I'm too lazy to type it out.
@red - True about that green. Energizer used to be pink, and recently dark blue to promote the Ultimate Lithium battery.
jd, i don't think joy's outta gas. in fact, i was thinking that he seems to be bringing excitement to this race. every time his voice goes up, i look up from the laptop.
god help us if we had a different PxP tonight . . .
JD this is way OT
but Sophias mentions of cookies sent me to kitchen for soda - Pepsi Throwback tastes just like Pepsi did before corn syrup. So I just wanted to let any Pepsi drinkers know its worth it to get some.
This ends my Public Service Announcement
Boy, the famous are really dying off this week.
RIP J Kemp.
@Karen--thanks for telling us about Mr. Kemp :(
@bevo - So many green cars these days (Aflac, Interstate, etc.), if they give you millions of dollars, you'll drive with the chicken suit if they ask you to! :)
just posted on another site:
"JoeGibbsRacingTire situation: more pitstops than anticipated. Goodyear can't mount tires fast enough. They're doing the best they can. It's a mad rush."
many thanks to WestCoastGal for the info.
@Martin Vincent-
Even if they pay you with $50 bills? :)
i guess the announcers saying rain was coming about 150 laps ago was garbage and trying to hype up the race...
@red-
That's the kind of information we should be getting from the pit reporters
D Hamlin getting new pit guys again?
Either Jeff can win. Please???
@bevo - I don't get it. Do you have $50 bills in the US? We do in Canada. (It's only worth $42 though!)
bevo said...

maybe the superstition applies to just the shade of green that is similiar to that of money. and that green that the #7 is sporting today is certainly NOT "on the money."
Will we see anymore commls? I haven't notices any.
Shhhh, Marcos is 14th she whispered.
HOLY CRAP!
way too much digger family on the screen. WTH?
Boy, you rarely hear silence on Fox telecasts..

agreed. seems to me it's important to know. and that's whay i surf a variety of sites, just so i can get information that the broadcast doesn't provide.
Nice wide shot there thanks
Digger on your desktop now?... I don't know, but I thought he didn't go into his hole fast enough and Jimmie Johnson decapitated him when he spun down the track. :)
12th.
They really haven't mentioned Montoya tonight (except just now) I guess better late than never.
I'm not a Shrub fan but the prerace show said today's his 24th birthday. A win would be icing on the cake.
Not a digger cam fan either.
Sofia,
Don't you have the new Digger toolbar on your computer?
@Martin Vincent-
$50 bills are big-time unlucky at a track.
Montoya=mention=caution.
I'm trying not to jinx my driver/owner - but we need a win here!
well, look here: the 14 is in second place. whaddya know: he WAS in the race tonight.
need a caution and see if stewart would spin out busch
I can't imagine how much spyware is in that Digger app.

I can laugh now...I have cookies in the oven, choc can help ease the end of this race..and this movie is gonna have the same old Groundhog Day movie ending.
there is a certain driver I WOULD LOVE to see win..but I ain't jinxing anybody :)
@bevo - I didn't know about that superstition.
Reut now out of the top 12 and if KB wins I will be questioning why I stayed up to watch this race
Cmon Smoke!
(Maybe the Russian model will be in Victory Lane)
/joking Sophia! :)
@Nrf, ditto.
I'm deflating.
@ bevo - not only spyware it probably takes over screen several inconvenient times & refuse to leave
@bevo
What are you jokin' to me for?
I LOVE the Tony commercial..must have been somebody else that was offended :-)
Soph it's me for some reason that one bothers me
our "active ticker"? what's that?
Ugliest car wins!!!!
And a 400 lap race.
Ding dang it.
Cut the cheese. Funny.
My boy 11th!!!!!!
did dw realy just say "cut the cheese and pour the wine"?!?
still an ugly car, even in winning.
and dw: get a grip, dude. your man-crush is unappealing.
Sorry Sophia, thought it was you.
nrf- Just joking :)
3.5 hours we won't ever get back
@red - Active Ticker shows the gap between each car rather than just giving the Top 10.
Well, thanks as always for stopping by.
SPEED shows tomorrow night at the normal times.
Not exactly Talladega, but at least it did not rain.
Have a good Sunday!
Yeah, what's with that weird finish line ticker. Is it supposed to convey some kind of information?
night, all! enjoy the rest of the weekend and thanks for making the race fun!
Thanks JD for the blog & your time
nrf
I was afraid of escalators as a kid and can relate to that part of the commercials..and the Russian girl doesn't bother me..they ain't showing off their enhancement or telling tony to use that special growing cream!!
:-)
Good nite all!
I guess I won't be watching the media center after this one. How disappointing all around. Coverage has been worse but all those in car camera shots have got to stop. I think this was worse than Talledega. Mike and the guys are calling a pass or 3 wide and I can't tell what is going on because of the angle
I haven't heard the Fox crew this giddy after a race in quite some time.
1-10, then the ticker started at like 35th. Good grief.
See you on the next post, my friends. As always, it was fun. XOXO
Thanks, JD. :)
PS @ Nrf, Ditto.
Good night everyone, thanks for the company. Off to watch the hockey game until they decide to resume the Rangers game.
Thank you JD for hosting!
Did anyone notice the PR guy holding up a pad by the camera for Kyle to read from, so that everyone gets thanked?
Next a teleprompter invictory lane.
Have a good night, Darlington is next at night. I might even go to that one.
if you go JD Have fun! That's definitely my dream track to attend! <3 LIB!
