Live Blogging The Truck Series Race From MIS

Krista Voda and the SPEED TV team will be working hard to get the Camping World Truck Series race underway from MIS in short order. The threat of rain has once again been lingering in the area.

Voda will use Ray Dunlap and Adam Alexander to set the stage for this event that will once again feature Kyle Busch crossing-over to try and dominate the field.

Rick Allen will have his full-time broadcast partner Phil Parsons alongside for the race. Michael Waltrip will return after missing the Texas event. These three all have well-defined roles and when they stay within them, it works very well.

The Set-Up starts at 1:30PM and the race begins shortly after 2PM. This post will serve to host your comments about the live CWTS coverage on SPEED. To add your TV-related opinion, just click on the comments button below. This is a family-friendly website, please keep that in mind when posting.

Thanks for taking time out of your Saturday to stop by The Daly Planet.

  5. Jeff Gluck reporting Denny Hamlin will jump in KB's truck if the rain hits.

KB going to Kentucky for the N'wide race.

  6. Late to the party as usual.

    three good humored questions.

1 Does Phil stand on a box?

2 Why is Mikey wearing DW's disco shirt?

3 Is Krista channeling Doctor Dirt?

  7. Bwfore you ask, they always play both anthems at MIS!

    ReplyDelete
  8. I thought that JB was going to be talking with Billy Balue (Sp) racing, whay doesn't he get in the 51?

  9. The Representative hit a couple of sour notes during "Oh, Canada!" ...

Watching the CBC during the Olympics, you learn that song quite well ... LOL

  10. Hope this is a good race, the trucks need one right now.

    ReplyDelete
  11. once again a simple pre-race show...i like it. I would be all for ditching the ESPN pit studio as well as the Hollywood hotel...the one issue they would have to work out would be rain fill...it is nice to have a dry location to broadcast from, but when that happens, why not go to the announce booth? Anyway, looking forward to enjoying the race.

  12. Amazing how many websites are now chatting during the races....hhhmmm...

    ReplyDelete
  13. everyone is talking about GM pulling support but I haven't heard anyone opine on whether this will give an advantage to the Ford or Toyota teams, might it?

  14. There goes one of my favs - nothing better happen to David Starr . . . . . .

    ReplyDelete
  15. @ri SDDD said he had too many commitments with Miccosoukee to step out of the truck this weekend. JB and Ballew have been talking. Stay tuned.

Did you notice that only the 10 & 16 were mentioned being off the track. What about the 2 trucks that pulled off before the wreck?

    ReplyDelete
  16. 8 trucks off the track already

    ReplyDelete
  17. KB seems to have turned into the 'Pinball wizard' of NASCAR in more ways than one this year

    ReplyDelete
  18. @ Robyn - I am inferring from your post that there is some chance that JB may take over the 51 ride. Even though KB is one of my 2 favorite drivers, I think it would be great if he were to let JB take his ride since he isn't racing for the championship and since he isn't collecting a check.

  19. This coverage sucks. A long list of trucks out of the race, and no mention by SPEED. This is pathetic. Horrible.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'm behind but I am guessing they are all racing to half way because it's becoming a wreck fest. Coverage so far isn't bad, you gotta admit Ray knows this series.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I think everybody is asleep or out & about ...

    ReplyDelete
  22. @Haus - Not sure if it is for next week of something more long term. My only connection is info posted on the JBFC message board.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I feel like SPEED is in a weird position in regards to the SandP's in all the series. It isn't good for morale, or sponsors to hear too much about them, but I agree SPEED is trying to stay more positive than acurit

    ReplyDelete
  24. Correct that; it is a wreckfest.

I wonder how long Skinner can last with no sponsor.

I would love to see JB back full time, it would go a long way with fans if Kyle gave up his seat to JB but he's still calling it his truck so who knows

    ReplyDelete
  25. Sorry Vicky not a good day for you but at least your driver is in the race :(

    ReplyDelete
  26. NRF - with so many trucks off the track, maybe David can pull out a decent finish today. He's been getting stronger the last few races, we were hoping for a win.

    ReplyDelete
  27. nrf - I think a bit of the money to run Skinner's truck is coming from Tayler's daddy ... Hence, the "thanking" of Tayler's daddy after Skinner won that rain shortened race a few weeks ago ...

    ReplyDelete
  28. Guys, you gotta realize the only reason Billy Bellew has that sponsor is because of Kyle Busch. He runs that truck to win, and runs it for free. The same could not be said if JB got in it. The sponsor expects a certain driver in the truck because that is what they agreed to. It would be great to see JB in the truck, but it IS Kyle's truck. He almost bought half this race team a couple years ago to ensure that would be the case...

Skinner has sponsorship for some but not all races, this is the 2nd time the truck has been blank this year...no different than JB had last year on the 23

    ReplyDelete
  29. Vicky one good thing about S&P a bad day doesn't always mean a really bad finish for domeone who is racing the entire race

    ReplyDelete
  30. Regarding SPEED, S&P, and lack of sponsors - I don't recall them mentioning that the reason why the 1 team was shut down was because of lack of sponsorship, at least when the guys in the booth talked about it. We just got Mikey talking about how he loves his sport because fans come out no matter what.

BTW- I read an article this week (but I can't find it again), that mentioned that there were rumors last Friday that the 1 team was shutting down. That could have contributed to the lack of enthusiasm in the booth last weekend, if the report was true.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Only a top 10 though the field ... geez...

    ReplyDelete
  32. Tia Thanks I was wondering about that. Well I guess that is the deal with the trucks these days, family money gets you a seat. Oh well unfortunately that's how the world works at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  33. David,
If KB is going to give Sam Ard 100k because he needs it, it seems to me that he might step out for the 'Champion' of the series as he said, and pay his *(JB's) salery himself. Why wouldn't Mikossucki (sp) want the reigning champ to drive for them?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Wonder if Ballew changed the driver, they are offering Samsung and the 15 truck.

    ReplyDelete
  35. If they wanted that, they would have went to sponsor the #1 instead of the #51. They have their reasons, as do all the sponsors.

JB only has a 1 race audition next week anyways to showcase and hope that Samsung signs with BBM on Monday.

Just guessing, but I imagine there is language in the sponsorship that precludes Kyle from just getting out of the truck and that is not limited to Miccosukee. NOS has sponsored the truck and I imagine is an associate as well so they expect the same thing. Kyle isn't expected to be in the truck next week, I believe Ickler would have been in it, and shuffling Ickler to the #15 and JB into the 51 is not something the sponsors would get as unhappy about as Kyle walking away from a companion race he told them he would run months ago.

Its pretty much explained by Kyle without going into detail that his hands were tied.

Sucks since its JB's home track, but there wasn't a magic solution to just getting him in a truck right now

    ReplyDelete
  36. I sure will be glad if/when Nascar changes the restart rule so we don't have to put up with watching the trucks pit twice.

    ReplyDelete
  37. seems to me David that you are always so DARN mature about everything!... you and Robyn are right I'm hoping, Occasionally I just like to carp ;)

    ReplyDelete
  38. nrf - Look for another young driver from WA State at ORP in a similar type of $$$ ride ... He works for a Nationwide team, too ...

    ReplyDelete
  39. sarcasm ri? lol...hard for me to gauge around here sometimes.

lets get some green flag racing please!

    ReplyDelete
  40. nope- not sarcasm, genuine opinion david. and I still like to carp

    ReplyDelete
  41. K, just checkin. I was on the complete opposite side of everyone here after that guitar thing last week so didn't know if the hangover was still here or not lol.

Hanging around NC for a year last year it was a good learning experience...unfortunately alot of these teams are at the hands of the sponsors and the Golden Rule. Sponsor has Gold, they make the rules.

    ti...remember Brent Sherman...

    ReplyDelete
  42. Wow. NASCAR has to have just went off on the #57

    ReplyDelete
  43. Did KB think he couldn't advance his position if he went below the yellow?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Only at Daytona and Talladega...no yellow line rule anywhere else

    ReplyDelete
  45. David, missed last week, but saw the Bush 'bash' I'm curious what side you were on, I was STUNNED, but think it was an ill thought out genuine idea; not some not so subtle slap in the face of NASCAR nation an kin

    ReplyDelete
  46. Why is NASCAR allowing Kyle (& others) to race on the apron?? They've told them in the past to not do it ... even though it's technically okay to do it ...

    ReplyDelete
  47. Pretty much my thoughts. Doing it on live tv, or even at the track was probably the dumbest thing he could have ever done considering his image and who he is, but i did feel it was a genuine gesture that was ill timed and probably ill advised.

I almost thought WWIII was gonna start around here after he did that lol

    ReplyDelete
  48. Apron helps vehicle turn. Also, Norm came WAYYYYYY down the track...Kyle went where he wasn't

    ReplyDelete
  49. Back to back commercials breaks w/no racing action? Why?

    ReplyDelete
  50. IDK whats more annoying. The free credit report.com commercials or the Shell commercials...

    ReplyDelete
  51. Reading the Larry Woody story through the link on the mainpage may help with your perspective on that.

    ReplyDelete
  52. David, Shell commercial x 2 in the same commercial break

    ReplyDelete
  53. David - I find both those commercials irritating since they are on so many times during a truck races!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I'm surprised at no debris caution.....they're going to be left with a LOT of time to kill! About 45 minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Robyn, working on that...no answer yet.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Not the same series we used to love....such a shame

    ReplyDelete
  57. Anyone making a story of Setzer and them not running the full season either? It would really be a great discussion for SPEED to have on the pre-race next week if they addressed it across the board. JB is a popular guy in this series but Setzer is not that far behind either and is a championship caliber driver...would be really unfortunate if they can't run the full deal either

    ReplyDelete
  58. JD i'm just glad there still IS a truck series. I don't care how much SPEED ESPN TNT have to pimp them, really what other option is there? no nascar on TV?

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hey guys, late to the party today. Glad Colin won. I love Norm Benning :).

    ReplyDelete
  60. ri,

NASCAR has left this series to die. Low purses, bad schedule and wrong tracks.

Rather see this series at smaller tracks where they could race without aero or downforce.

    Imagine these guys at Rockingham?

    Jd

    ReplyDelete
  61. Bet they go to Le Mans at the top of the hour.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Is it that hard for Shrub to congratulate someone on his first win.......He is such a chotch

    ReplyDelete
  63. JD - yes, I think they should change the schedule next year (if there is a truck series) to smaller tracks and stop that stupid 2 pit stops!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Without factory support from 2 makers, I believe the truck series will cease to exist after this yr, imo. It's a shame...:(

    ReplyDelete
  65. PammH, Sadly, I agree with you. Truck plants are stopping production to make way for little cars.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Dodge and Ford already pulled alot of their support. chevy is the 3rd one to do so.

Missed KB, was in the shower.

Ive been saying Rockingham for a longgg time.

I say run this series with NW as a companion deal at about 8-10 stand alones from Cup so that you can prevent cup guys from doing the full schedule in both, but also you give the NW and Truck teams the benefit of having both series at the same tracks which cuts some cost yet allows them to be the showcase instead of Cup.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Dot, the car manufacturing plants will be making UGLY little cars.

    ReplyDelete
  68. OK guys, see you tonight for the Nationwide Series race at 8PM on ESPN2. Thanks for stopping by.

    JD

    ReplyDelete
  69. Also, I hope Speed fixes the mics next week so we can hear all of the updates etc.

    ReplyDelete
  70. @ David, ri88girl is right. You are mature for a youngin. I agree with your last comment.

@ VickyD, some small cars are ugly. Daughter has an Aveo. It's pretty cute.
