Live Blogging The Camping World Truck Series From PIR (7:30PM - SPEED)
Here we go with the next to last CWTS race of the season. Krista Voda will host the pre-race show with Ray Dunlap and Adam Alexander as the reporters. Rick Allen, Phil Parsons and Michael Waltrip will call the action during the race.
SPEED's presentation of this product is familiar and fan friendly. Last year, this was the most memorable pre-race show of the season with Krista on Rattlesnake Hill with the sunset behind her.
The action looks to be fantastic and the weather has been cooperating. This post will serve to host your comments about the CWTS race on SPEED.
To add your TV-related comments, just click on the comments button below. This is a family-friendly website, please keep that in mind when posting. Thanks for taking the time to stop by.
Hey all, truck time. Not really happy with the Camping World product placement on Krista.
ReplyDeleteLast year this was a memorable pre-race from PIR. Tonight, not so much.
Really beautiful view of the track where the Speed tent, campsite and Krista is standing.
ReplyDeleteLast year it was just her and the scenery...ya know?
ReplyDeleteI guess it would have been too hard to drag a big camper up on that hill. Tent much easier I guess. lol

ReplyDeleteTruck Series PIR S&P's:
ReplyDelete#02 Terry Cook
#05 Wayne Edwards
#21 Nick Tucker
#47 Richard Harriman
#48 Dan Brode
You all know the rule. No feed...
ReplyDeleteThanks buschseries. Next to last everything tonight.
ReplyDeleteWhy are they showing JJ and his crash last week? Sorry JD.
ReplyDeleteWhy is Mikey rambling on about Jimmie's crash? Geez, can't get away from that friggin' replay anywhere?
ReplyDeletewas JJ in a wreck last week? again we see it.
ReplyDeleteHow weird was that?
ReplyDeleteTent might be product placement, that is over the top IMHO!
ReplyDeleteJD - talk about product placement what about that crazy vest and hat?
ReplyDeleteCan't believe it's almost over for the trucks...
ReplyDelete@Buschseries61 - I think #50 Wheeler Boys and #89 Chris Lafferty might be S&P teams as well.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see Corrie Stott Racing let Terry Cook run to the end of the race, but I understand the consecutive starts are more important to Terry at this point in time.
Hey guys! I'm actually going to be able to watch a Truck race for once.
ReplyDeleteDeLana Harvick wearing her cap during the anthem. Was it here that somebody mentioned that? Or maybe it was at the Go Teams Go forums...
ReplyDeleteYou will like it Andrew!
ReplyDeleteMV, I hope Terry gets something for next season. Anything announced?
I saw this on twitter today that Delana has been suffering from the flu all this week and only today is feeling just a bit better.
ReplyDelete@ Andrew, now you'll see how racing is supposed to be shown on TV.
ReplyDelete@ Martin V, women and hats are OK. The rule is just for men.
Women are not required to remove hats as men are. Like wearing one in church.
ReplyDelete@JD - If Terry Cook can't secure a ride in time for Daytona, he might very well, unfortunately, take one of the S&P rides that will have a guaranteed starting position in the first 4 races of the season.
ReplyDeleteNothing has been announced yet, or even rumored. I guess the loss of his ride at HT Motorsports was too sudden for him to secure a new ride just like that.
Local guy was doing good (slightly slow)
ReplyDeleteTil he got to the "an hand"
Even was enunciating properly ...
@Martin Vincent --
ReplyDeleteWomen are not required to remove their hats. Only men. I know, it's discrimination. ;-)
I enjoyed Krista up on the hill. However, I bet she was cold. Did you see how the flag was standing straight out from the pole?
BS61 - Harriman is NOT a true S&P ...
ReplyDeleteThey try to run at least half of the race ... He's another kid from Snohomish County, WA ... The team's extremely under funded ...
Forest Lucas will be flying tonight to get back to Pomona ...
ReplyDeleteok, just woke up from an hour nap, and had choc chip cookies with unsweetened coconut, for dinner with milk. Just caught the end of the Pre race but Krista with the tent seemed kind of weird and gimmicky/silly...course it could be my mood.
ReplyDeleteGlad I missed the JJ crash replays. :)
I'd rather see fewer trucks run the whole race than have the S&Ps. It would make the purse bigger for the serious teams. Same in NW & CUP too.
ReplyDelete@Six - Usually, when the two Fast Track Racing trucks are carrying the Rockingham Speedway and Fast Track 11 Degreaser sponsorship, the trucks are S&P. When a driver brings sponsorship money with him is when the trucks are more likely to run the full distance.
ReplyDelete@ Martin - Thanks, I forgot the #89. I don't think the #50 will S&P since they have a second car in the field (#05) to collect cash.
ReplyDelete@6p01 - Andy Hillenburg has parked the #47 all season long. I saw they had a sponsor, but they ran minimal laps in practice.
Hate to bring up the ExtenZe sponsorship everyone loves to hate, but is there any possibility Kevin Conway might buy his way into the Cup race by moving his sponsor's money to the #87 Toyota of Joe Nemechek?
ReplyDeleteGurrrr.... In-car.
ReplyDeleteWow.
ReplyDeleteNo commercials.
Excited announcers who keep talking about the action on the track.
I KNOW WHERE PEOPLE ARE.
Following battles.
Switching immediately from an in-car camera to a good view of the wreck.
No wonder y'all say ESPN needs to take notes.
#50 is at the tail of the field,... might be parking soon.
ReplyDeleteI wish Bevo were here...have that weird picture issue again with background and non moving stuff (jumping lines, etc) I noticed it when they show graphs on screen, too.
ReplyDeleteTwitter is acting slow and squirrelly for Ohioans tonight.
Gonna be a long night for Harvick...
@MV - I really really really hope not.
ReplyDelete@Sophia - Twitter's acting up for this Floridian as well. JD, you getting anything?
ReplyDelete@ Andrew, I thought you'd be impressed. Good stuff, huh?
ReplyDeleteHere in Houston, twitter's page was strange looking.
ReplyDeleteTwitter is a mess. They tried to roll out this new "RT" deal and it messed everything up. It's them, so be patient.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it is because I remember how great Krista looked on the hill last year, but that Camping World junk really rubbed me wrong.
Oh, well...
These guys do put on a good show...
ReplyDeleteI hate it when there's a software upgrade or improvements because it always means problems for a few days. Hubby liked the commercial for the HD TV and it was in HD.
ReplyDeleteMichael Waltrip was actually useful tonight. I was wondering what happened to Jason White.
ReplyDeleteToo funny! Other than the trucks, it is amazing how burnt out I am on the N'wide and Cup Series.
ReplyDeleteYou too?
@ JD, I agree. More with BSPN though.
ReplyDeleteLately it seems as if I watch the races (sort of) more out of habit than interest. I've been doing it for so many years I'm conditioned to tune into a race. tho' these days I don't usually sit glued to the set.
ReplyDeletePlus Mikey told us all about George Jr. See Cook is off but I don't think Rick will tell us about the S&P's.
ReplyDeleteI'm only sick of ESPN, I do just fine with Speed.
ReplyDelete@JD - I'm very burnt out, though I'm still keeping track of what's going on via Twitter and FoxTrax during races.
ReplyDeletethis afternoon I was switching channels on the Tv and ran across the practice for the cup guys and then Jerry Punch's voice came on. I kept switching channels.
ReplyDeleteIt is getting old quick.
Twitter has got to stop messing with things. Most folks I know, myself included, think the new list thing is lame and a PITA to make one, just NOT worth it.
ReplyDeleteThat's why follow and unfollow is SIMPLE enough. KISS.
I think for somebody that had a long nap, I might be too crabby for company tonight. back in a bit.
Can't get focused enough for the race.
That would be how to cover the race off pit road....
ReplyDeletep.s. I think my being burned out on NW & Cup and NASCAR in general, is ruining it for trucks.
ReplyDeleteAnd just now reading no Danica deal is immenent with JRMotorsports due to their sponsor issues...So was that ALL ESPN hype...sigh
Poor Ron. How does that happen?
ReplyDeleteJD - Isn't it amazing? It isn't that complicated to cover pit road.
ReplyDeleteWonder what MW is going to be doing on TV next season when he switches to owner only?
ReplyDeleteI know he will probably race Daytona, but you know what I mean.
TWIN and Trucks are the issues....should be some interesting meetings at SPEED.
Doing a mini field rundown. Amazing that that can be done too.
ReplyDeleteI heard Jerry Punch sighing soooooo deeply on coverage today.
ReplyDeleteThis has to be hard for him. Wrong guy in wrong job and they are just leaving him there to fry.

ReplyDeleteYes amazing. Do a mini run down and still keep broadcasting the race.

ReplyDeleteSomeone has to be buying those Hot Rod Grills...ya know?
ReplyDeleteNice solid race so far. Fun even!
But JD, they've left Doc in that position way too long, but ESPN doesn't make the broadcasts any better.
ReplyDeleteThunder / lightning / hail / sleet ... hail the size of big peas ...
ReplyDeleteHere in the "home" of Tayler Malsam / Richard Harriman / Kevin Hamlin ...
The Truck series is the only series I enjoy watching anymore.
ReplyDeleteAll the independents are out of Cup & the financial situation is a mess for next year. TV coverage is awful.
The Nationwide series is contaminated with Cup drivers and S&P teams.
The Truck series has the best racing, best TV package, and most diverse. Veterans can battle with rookies. Independents like Norm Benning, Mario Gosselin & Andy Hillenburg can work hard and survive in the series. Local drivers like Jamie Dick and Robbie Brand can attempt a race. The series is so much fun to follow.
It was in the 50's here last night. We almost had to open the homeless shelters! Such weather!
ReplyDeleteI feel bad for Terry losing his ride but nice field summary. And Mike Skinner has gained a lot of spots too.
ReplyDeleteRead where Weed bought a truck team. 16 I think. Anyone have details? Won't mind so much him racing as an owner, ala Kevin.
ReplyDeleteWhat is George, Jr.'s first name? Any relation?
ReplyDeleteTook 'em awhile to throw that caution; should've been obvious we wasn't going to make it back.
ReplyDelete@Dot, I agree. It's a whole different thing when a Cup driver has his own team, builds his own equipment, and runs busch or Trucks series. That's how you build your own Cup team eventually. Not the same as running stuff built by an established Cup team. Unless it's driven by a rookie or Busch regular. Sorry. I just can't get used to the Nationwide thing. Too unwieldly.
ReplyDelete@ Andrew, you forget this is the truck series, not CUP. Rare "debris" cautions, too.
ReplyDeleteI can't tweet tonite, which is really ticking me off! Can read, but not respond. Think Kryle will bietch about AA if he wins-him getting the better truck & all? Oh, forgot-he won't be around to be interviewed! Pretty good coverage, as usual. Thought Krista on the hill w/all the camping gear was NOT over the top-she's a pun gal anyway! Have to listen to Sirius tho, still can't handle Mikey...:(
ReplyDeleteThat was a good shot of the end of pit road of the trucks leaving we thought. Great broadcast so far.
ReplyDelete@Karen - George Jr.'s first name is Tim. Who did you think he might be related to? Doug George?
ReplyDeleteOnce again....good TV coverage = a lot less comments.
ReplyDeleteMV, Tony George. You never know.
ReplyDelete"What have all these men discovered that you haven't?"
ReplyDeleteA money-sink?
Yea, just to busy watching the race to post.
ReplyDeleteAmazing how that works, isn't it JD? I don't think we're living up to those who feel we bitch just to bitch. We gotta get going here!
ReplyDeleteRyanMcGeeESPN - You know, I think ole Earnhardt knew what he was doing when he brought Ron Hornaday east & put him in a NASCAR Truck.
ReplyDeleteGood old Ryan!
This is a great race! And I'm tweeting again-like anyone cares.
ReplyDelete@Karen - The only driver related to Tony George I know of is Kyle Krisiloff.
ReplyDeleteHm. Interesting place for a commerical.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it interesting after the hullabaloo about getting lots of young drivers in cars, that the older drivers are proving that old age and treachery (sp?) can still get the job done?
ReplyDeleteOkay. The possibilities are endless. Coming to a premature end? I'm biting my tongue.
ReplyDeleteThe p#@*( car has become too wide, I think...;)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe those guys are not howling with laughter in the booth right now.....
ReplyDeleteJD so many commercials at the end of this thing.
ReplyDeleteDot - Kylie bought the trucks from the Albertson's team
ReplyDelete@MV, isn't Ed Carpenter his son in law or something?
ReplyDelete@ Pamm, I thought it only worked in the one direction.
ReplyDelete@ JD, that's why they went to comml. Had to laugh off the air.
ok, i couldn't stay away! joining you guys w/12 to go!
ReplyDeleteSEE? Showing racing in the back. I love SPEED.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteYAY. Kevin wins.
ReplyDeleteand like last year, Winner announced as champion...what about next week?
They skipping it?? ;)
@Sally - I'm not an IndyCar follower, so I had to look that up. Ed Carpenter is Tony George's stepson, his second wife's son from a previous marriage.
ReplyDeleteYAY Grampa and Happy! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteGo KHI. Wins the championship and denies Weed the trifecta.
ReplyDeleteScript writers are busy at BSPN.
Reminds me of when B Lab won the title nad Terry won the race. Way cool!
ReplyDeleteThey were searching today for sure...
ReplyDeleteWhen was the last time that BSPN actually showed the driver's victory celebration?
ReplyDeleteFantastic job by Speed here tonight. THAT is how you call a championship race.
Congrats to Kevin & KHI driver Ron Hornaday.
ReplyDeleteGlad Ron winning it this year.
ReplyDeleteThink BSPN will drag out their smear story on him?
sigh.
Ron didn't look too happy about the COLD liquid. distracting..:)
ReplyDeleteWasn't that fun, to watch and enjoy a race!
ReplyDeleteThank you, SPEED.
Makiki
Honolulu
loved the dual burn outs, too lol
ReplyDeleteGood job Speed. Well done all the way around.
ReplyDeleteHonolulu NASCAR fans! Hey Makiki!
ReplyDeleteYay Grampa & Happy & Dee
ReplyDeleteConstantly re-writing the record books for NASCAR & the Truck series
Too bad they didn't show "how" Tayler got spun into the wall
Aloha, Planeteers1
ReplyDeleteMakiki
Honolulu
That's the only bummer. Who spun TM?
ReplyDeletedecent interview by Kryle for a change-altho he threw his folks that are supposed to be his new team under the truck...not a big surprise.
ReplyDeleteHow about that? Kyle loses, talks to Ray, let's him do it again when his mic is off, smiles, jokes and talks openly about his on-going struggles to get a Truck team going.
ReplyDeleteHmm.....
After watching the SPEED race &, then on to ESPN, like goin from a Porsche to a Ford Pinto, only the cameras don't burst into flames. Ouch. I had a Pinto in H.S.
ReplyDeleteThe camera work and guys were great. Hope we get the long post race filled with interviews.
Maybe aliens took over Kryle's body? No clue-if anyone is bi-polar, it's him, imo.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hanging out everyone. Trackside is up at 10:30pm with Ryan Newman and David Reutimann.
ReplyDeleteSee you tomorrow for NASCAR TV with live blog of the Nationwide Series race. Marty Reid is back...
Thank you JD. Look for lots of comments tomorrow. Unlike tonight.
ReplyDeleteGod, we can only hope MR is back.
ReplyDeleteAlot fewer start and parks than I thought. 89, 02, 21 were the major ones. 05 shortly thereafter, 47 about 50 laps later then about 90 laps in the 48 was black flagged then parked.
ReplyDeleteShockingly small start and park crowd. #22 was a freaking slow truck as was the 37 all night long. Had a blast at the race, was down on pit road for the championship celebration, JD I will shoot you some of the pictures I took of Ron, Kevin, Delana and company off my phone either tonight or tomorrow.
Fun night. REALLY fun night. Not the most ultra competitive race but man I thought Aric was gonna do it for a bit...
Ron was very nice on pit road and extremely happy and relieved. Got video of the double burnout too.
Looking REALLY forward to tomorrow Dot and company =)
Oh, Was on for the start of trackside, it was filmed at 7:30 EST too, SPEED deft. encourages the fan interaction and signs. It was actually alot of fun in person getting amped up with the crowd and TS gang!
ReplyDeleteConway did pretty well tonight btw until Crafton sent him into the fence. Nemecheck probably won't sell his ride to Conway this time...
ReplyDelete
