Live Blogging The Sprint Cup Series From Homestead (2:30PM - ABC)
The season closes out with one big storyline and several smaller ones. Jimmie Johnson's only competition is his own teammate Mark Martin. The other story is the teams going for broke to win this last race.
One additional story is that Rick Hendrick has stayed behind in North Carolina to attend to a family member who is undergoing emergency surgery. No doubt the absence of Hendrick removes an element that the TV networks normally count on in a championship race.
Allen Bestwick brings ABC on the air for the final time this season. He is joined by Ray Evernham, Rusty Wallace and Brad Daugherty in the Infield Pit Center. The ESPN pit reporters will be handling the interviews.
Shannon Spake, Jamie Little, Dave Burns and Vince Welch have been working on the NASCAR trail all season long. They have struggled on the Sprint Cup Series races because of their limited exposure to the series. ESPN has not done many practice and qualifying sessions this season from their 17 Cup races.
This is a final moment in the sun for the team of Jerry Punch, Dale Jarrett and Andy Petree. The Nationwide Series season was easy to watch, but when the team switched over to the Sprint Cup Series the wheels came off.
There is no need to recap the issues again, but things are just not working for the TV viewers with the current team in place. Expect changes in the off-season. It will be interesting to see what, if anything, changes for today's race.
This post will serve to host your comments on the Sprint Cup Series race from Homestead. To add your TV-related comment, just click on the comments button below. This is a family-friendly website, please keep that in mind when posting.
Thanks for hanging with us this season and giving us your NASCAR TV opinions!
Here we go, last time this season!
ReplyDeleteI know one thing, ESPN is guilty of bait and switch. I watched the entire 1.5 hours of SportsCenter to see the "dirtest jobs in NASCAR"--- and got, NOTHING!
ReplyDeleteYou lied, ESPN.
They said he was going to do some features on the dirtiest jobs in NASCAR. No clue to how that became just a pace car ride with DJ.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't the dirtest jobs in Nascar, but the most underappreciated, at least in the case of JJ's crew guys.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's just me, but I liked those brief interviews with them. We don't see a lot of what goes on with them and today we did.
Versus did the same type of thing this year with the IRL coverage, showing all the winning crew guys names and interviewing the winning engineer in VL with the winning driver.
I'm really mad tat I watched BSPN more & missed KP & angry Larry Mac & ranting JS! The piece on Homestead was very good tho.
ReplyDeleteI'd bill them for that 90 minutes :( that's a shame :(
ReplyDeleteStill doing some things here will probably pay half attention to what I'm sure will be the Jimmie Show with a honorable mention of Mark and if we're lucky special guest appearances by the rumored other 41 cars that are to be out there :(
TexasRaceLady - Wow, that is disappointing. I didn't bother with any of the pre-race shows. There are more hours of hype than the actual race.
ReplyDeleteChad makes Hendrick and by extention Nascar sound like nothing more than a marketing program and that is not MY nascar. Tuck your shirt in, shave? WTF does that have to do with balls, talent and making a car go faster than another?
ReplyDeleteIronic that the champ flies to ESPN for TV and radio on Monday but NASCAR Now ends tonight?
ReplyDelete--------------------
Only because they've got a bunch of college hoops games schedule (another reason why the season should end at least a month earlier).
Besides, what show do more people watch, Sportscenter at 6 pm est or Nascar Now on Monday's?
Damon, perfect way to end ten months of racing. Bow to stick and ball one final time.
ReplyDeleteIf, by some fluke of luck Mark martin wins the title, all this pre race JJ and Chad hype is going to look pretty foolish. Did I say that?
ReplyDeleteok this tribute music to MM is a little to dour for my tastes he's not dying!
ReplyDeleteSally,
ReplyDeleteThe potential for history is why there's so much "hype", just like all the "hype" about the Patriots being 18-0 going into Super Bowl 42against the Giants and having a chance to finish the year unbeaten, just like the 1972 Miami Dolphins did.
ri88girl - ask our Armed Forces what tuck your shirt in and shave means.
ReplyDeleteBe the best - on top of your game at all times.
Anyone else very glad that RaceView is free today? We get to listen to MRN!
ReplyDeleteIts good that TB reminded me about how to make a pit stop properly. Ive only been watching NASCAR 15 years so i didn't know those things, especially how you have to have all of the lugnuts on tight before you can go. Thanks TB.
ReplyDeleteA lot of the regular S&P teams didn't make this field on Friday. I expect only the #36 Michael McDowell to park early, with a possibility of #37 Travis Kvapil parking too, although they picked up the Miccosukee sponsorship from the #09 when it failed to qualify.
ReplyDeleteTim Brewer is so informative! I can't wait for him to tell us that the windshield keep debris from getting into the car... or that the faster the wheel go around, the faster it will make the car go!
ReplyDeleteWho is picking the music today? I don't like it. Same segments I've seen before too.
ReplyDelete@Damon, believe me, after watching Nascar since The King won his last title, I understand the 'history' aspect of the race today. I'm just saying that, for many of us...and maybe many of those 'casual fans', there are other drivers and teams they might want to hear about. Of course, that may be colored by some who don't feel a '10 race title' is exactly exceeding a 3 in a row full season title.
ReplyDeleteAndrew,
ReplyDeleteNot exactly happy. I pay for it and the performance suffers on free weekends.
@Glenn from last most on "Pre-race shows blog"....exactly my sentiments!
ReplyDeleteFrom the posts here sounds like I will be using FF for Countdown. Thought there would be some "new" things and was curious about "dirtiest jobs" segment.
Evidently I will remain curious.
@Soloman,
ReplyDeleteYou are of course correct. Being a woman of a certain age, it doesn't occur to me naturally to think of it in millitary terms.
Appreciate your patience today, fighting off the angry mob. Guess that means we are popular! LOL!
ReplyDelete@anon :58--I call him Captain Obvious for a reason :). Once in a blue moon he'll hit on something relevant but most of it is NA$CAR 101 and somethings you can pull any bloke off the street and they could tell you the answer.
ReplyDeleteI hope all goes OK with Mr. Hendricks niece :(
Ok, one more time,
ReplyDeleteESPN it should say something to you that it is the RADIO race call you are using for features and replays. That isn't how it's done. You are SUPPOSED to use the call of your own booth announcers.
@ ri88girl - i hope i didn't sound like i was being condescending with my comment.
ReplyDeleteAside from the service, that "tuck your shirt in" attitude applies in all walks of life. If you look good, you feel good, you'll be at your best.
That's what makes the greats of all sports great - attention to the little details. While NASCAR may not have always seemed to be that in the past, if you listen to Richard Petty and DW talk about Jimmie and the 48, you'll hear nothing but appreciation for what they are accomplishing.
Except for two missteps, excellent performance of the anthem by Anika Noni Rose.
ReplyDeletewhy the gap in miller lite line on pit road...like they left a spot open in honor of someone one?
ReplyDeleteI could have done without that rendition of the anthem. Jeesh.
ReplyDeleteDoes ESPN realize Mark Martin still has a chance to win the championship? JJ, JJ & more JJ.
ReplyDeleteGot the cartoon on N.com. First time listening to MRN this season.
ReplyDeleteNice call to start by Dirty Jobs' Mike Rowe. Great voice.
ReplyDeleteHere we go with the "50-year-old" mentions. Everybody have a drink!
ReplyDeleteHow about just saying "Mark Martin could win his first championship today" instead of "Mark Martin could become the first 50 YEAR OLD champion." JP is absolutely obsessed with ages.
ReplyDeleteJP says he's fired up.....let's see if actions speak louder than words.
ReplyDeleteDishes done, kitchen clean, ready to watch a race, check.
ReplyDeleteAnon at 2:58. Steve Wallace & his crew chief should watch that so they won't have a wheel fall off. Good Grand Marshall I like Mike Rowe.
ReplyDeleteJerry Punch is clearly fighting to keep his job ... he didn't call Carl Edwards "Cousin Carl"!!!
ReplyDeletePS Carl is racing in sunglasses under his helmet. That is cool!
Sorry guys, I have some folks trying to flood me and trying to post obscene things.
ReplyDeleteWe should be all set now, just got it sorted out.
Thanks for all you do JD! I appreciate everything you do to with this blog.
ReplyDeleteAt the end of the day folks, remember.....48!!!!!
ReplyDeletehehe
Ultimate Dirty Job: Crew Chief for the #88 AMP/National Guard Chevrolet.
ReplyDeleteLast time out folks, might be pretty quiet. Ive got KyBu on the radio. Need clean and green again! Work in about 4 hours.
OK, cartoon showing only JJ going around the track. Is this normal, just one car?
ReplyDeleteAh.....radio......
ReplyDeleteIf ESPN is this bad next year, I may be paying for PitCommand. Words cannot describe how much better this is.
Can't believe w/all that pre-race time that no one could mention this is Mikey's last race in full time season! And I don't even like Mikey, but he deserves that at least.
ReplyDeleteGot a new computer in May, and just realized that I don't have NASCAR.com in faves. I do have a radio though.
ReplyDeletegood racing going on in the back as MRN discribes
ReplyDeleteThanks JP. I didnt know Marcos was from Tasmania.
ReplyDeleteSomebody tweets to JD: I want Marty Reid in the booth. Instead we got the Three Stooges.
ReplyDelete----------------
As an IRL fan, you can have him.
he's from Tasssssssmania!
ReplyDeleteCommercial already. Bad omen
ReplyDeleteThank the good lord for Free MRN radio today, i don't think i'll bother changing the audio today. This is like one of three races that I have access to the radio coverage this year considering I live in Australia. Go Marcos!!! - giving JJ a run for his money :)
ReplyDeleteHad trouble with Hotpass on Directv. Did not start until lap 5. WTH!
ReplyDeleteGot radio going. Kind of like to hear the racing. Even with the pretty HD pictures radio shows a lot more racing than ESPN.
ReplyDeleteWe got 1 50 year old Mark Martin
ReplyDelete6 #'s in car # bingo
Johnson, Ambrose & Martin tied with most mentions at 8.
8 drivers have been mentioned so far
Why only three+ hours allowed for the race? Once again dSPN botches it....too much pre- and not enough post-.
ReplyDeleteWe are all screwed.
Anybody else see Marcos get squirrely way up front from Harvicks camera?
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOD---
ReplyDeleteMarcos Ambrose is wrecking an Jerry Punch will not stop reading his contest promotion!!!!!!
They are glued to the front of the field.
ReplyDeleteHey a field rundown. Not on TV of course. Thank you MRN.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, how can you all listen to the TV after the comments I see you print? I would just go nuts!
ReplyDeleteCar # Bingo up to 9
ReplyDeleteOnly 11 drivers have been mentioned so far. A poster on Friday said the Speed booth mentioned all 36 trucks in 40 laps. ESPN is not even close.
is very frustrating when MRN describes the racing at the back while ESPN acts like there are no cars outside the top 10
ReplyDeleteTV on, MRN on Sirius, Marcos on Pit command.
ReplyDeleteWhat a day for Marcos.
Anything good things on TV?
Has TV said anything about Marcos going to the garage?
ReplyDeleteMcDowell parking
ReplyDeleteMRN tweets 47 behind the wall, how come TV didn't mention it?
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice if they mentioned that Robby Gordon won a racing championship yesterday!
ReplyDeleteI guess he will have to spin out (like always) to get his sponsor/name on TV.
Too funny. Punch sounded surprised that the 14 was leading when they went to commercial.
ReplyDeleteOh Doc, you don't even know who is leading.
ReplyDeleteOMG...did Jerry Punch just about say that Jimmie was in the lead, when TS was?
ReplyDeleteRuined his segue into the commercial.
Awful. Just awful.
It is like the Soviet Union. A guy disappears (this time the 47) and everyone pretends like he ever existed to begin with.
ReplyDelete@ Anon 3:55, because MA is an Odd Wad to BSPN. Not in chase, etc.
ReplyDeleteAnybody mentioned yet that rain is near the area?
ReplyDeleteAm so glad ESPN/ABC will go away for a long time after this race until they broadcast a cup race.
ReplyDeleteJerry has no clue who the leader is...
ReplyDelete19 drivers have been mentioned since the green flag. Jimmie Johnson was the most at 20. Matt Kenseth & Carl Edwards were only mentioned through an ad, so you could argue only 17 were covered.
Car # bingo is up to 12
Marcos back out on track
ReplyDeletemrn interviewing Mike Rowe now. no race coverage on tv or radio at same time-I hate that. nice interview tho.
ReplyDeleteMarcos had a bad carb. 15 laps down. :(
ReplyDeleteOnly 84 days until FOX takes over Nascar Coverage...I think I'm gonna make it. I am so sorry Tony Stewart is leading the race and interupted another Jimmie Johnson tribute...Save me, please...
ReplyDeleteSpotters seeing rain in the distance.
ReplyDeleteNOOOOOOOOOOO! Now they have AB doing the "points as they stand" thing.
ReplyDeleteDarnell on pit road
ReplyDeleteAB mentioned pre race that rain was in the area.
ReplyDeleteI think most ppl are using MRN other than the casual fan.
ReplyDeleteMan, could you imagine what a mess TV would be if this race was delayed by rain?
ReplyDeleteJD,
ReplyDeleteYou mean this wasn't messed up already?
terri,
ReplyDeleteNBC used to do the same thing when they had the Chase
Lost the split screen after a couple of cars. Could not keep the leader straight...
ReplyDeletePit stops just randomly happened, like it just fell in their lap. I miss Larry Mac with his calculator.
ReplyDeleteNow stupid helmet cam...
hey jd? will this race be rerun during the week?
ReplyDeleteKvapil parked
ReplyDeleteMon on ESPN Classic at 1PM, probably Weds on SPEED at noon.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it time for a drama caution?
ReplyDeleteTV, radio, three web sites.
ReplyDeleteHow hard do we have to work to get coverage?
And why?
Wouldn't it be fitting for ESPN to have a red flag for rain and have to dump the ceremonies for Jimmie to go to America's Funniest Home Videos? :)
ReplyDelete@ boyd, right on.
ReplyDelete@ Boyd...I'm with you there! Shouldn't we just be able to tune in to the telecast and get all the relevant info in one place? this is ridiculous!
ReplyDeleteJerry Punch can wax my balls. He is so boring and has no idea what is happening on the track.
ReplyDeletethaks, jd. i have wednesday off so i may check out now and decide later if i want to try and catch the re-run. will give it until the 88 gets to the front . .
ReplyDeletePoints as of Now were shown 4 times in the first 60 laps.
ReplyDelete24 drivers mentioned - JJ the most at 37.
@ bevo, AFV had their finale last Sun. But, get your point.
ReplyDeleteTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO funny bevo.
ReplyDeleteBut wouldn't it be wonderful to mess up ABC's Sunday night lineup.
(opps, did i say that out loud)
Reading a contest promo while people are wrecking? geeze! Even drivers will stop their interview and turn their attention to a wreck :(
ReplyDelete@PammH agreed! I'm hoping the finances will allow for cable again soon but I still want to try for DTV just hope the trees won't be an issue I think there's enough to get a signal but regardless I'll have Trackpass available.
So glad I have MRN on TV would be driving me batty right now if I had to listen to that mess!
50" flat screen, two computers, radio blaring, trying to keep up with twitter and this site.
ReplyDelete***WHEW***
I'm wore out already!
Planeteers lets try an experiment.
ReplyDeleteTry watching Monday night Football on ESPN.
Even if you hate football.
See if you can get the jist of the game, with a lot of details sprinkled in.
If they can accomplish this feat on ESPN, why can't they do it with NASCAR?
Bevo at 4:08 - or go to a Extenze infomercial!
ReplyDeletemy least-favorite expression today "let's update the 48 car. . . " it's even worse than "50 year old mark martin" or "in case you just joined us."
ReplyDeleteagain, i'm amazed by what the 48 team has accomplished this season but espn has sucked all the joy out of it.
Jerry Punch is just shouting names, stats, & promos. No play-by-play.
ReplyDeleteStill no mention of Kasey Kahne, Denny Hamlin or Brian Vickers
anyone notice that JJ has a "dirt bike" visor on his helmet. anyone hear about the reasoning behind that? help with the sun i'm guessing, but i don't know that it will help with the angles of everyhthing
ReplyDeletetoo bad MRN is not TV
ReplyDeleteKvapil back out...
ReplyDelete#37-Kvapil back in the race. Not surprising that this won't be an S&P this week. They transferred the #09 Miccosukee sponsorship to the #37 after Stremme wrecked in Qualy.
ReplyDeleteI'm having my own celebration. This is the last time I will ever listen to punch. If he is gone, gone, gone next year, then great. If not, I have watched my last race on espn/abc forever.
ReplyDeleteI want my NASCAR to be fun, not painful.
Makiki
Honolulu
Jeff Gluck just noted that a spotter has said that the wind is picking up on the roof. Rain may be getting closer.
ReplyDelete@Haus- I believe all of the Hendrick drivers are using them

************
They pointed that out yesterday during practice. It was for the setting sun.
Everything Brad D says just comes out as irrelevent blah blah. It feels creepy listening to him call Dalr Jr. Junebug. You are not DW.
ReplyDeleteIt is so weird when they stay with the infield studio audio for an extended period.
ReplyDeleteFirst it's like a whole new announcer team.
Second, they are BETTER, so when they throw it back to Punch, it is a letdown.
It is almost like Bestwick is showing off what he can do and then throwing it back in Punch's face. LOVE IT
anon @4:17 said:
ReplyDelete"too bad MRN is not TV"
--> too bad tv is not tv.
Can the infield pit crew call the rest of the race?
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely not MA's day today.
ReplyDeleteHas TV talked about guys outside the top 10 or 12?
ReplyDeletei don't get how the visor will help. the sun will be down in their face in front of them not over top, but i am not an expert, nor have i actually taken one out and tried it in a car so it is just an opinion based on an observation and my common sense logic.
ReplyDelete@red @anon 4:17 too bad this NASCAR TV is bad TV
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine trying to follow the race with only the TV audio and picture? It would make a person switch to a football game even if they didn't like football.
ReplyDeleteWell - Jerry at least told us the lucky dog. But we got no field recap, no S&P's, no garage updates.
ReplyDeleteA THRILLING Lions win!!!
ReplyDeleteESPN has alot of work to do to captivate me like that game did!!!
As usual, things are a confusing mess after pit stops.
ReplyDeleteIxs anyone else kindof sickly hoping that JJ wrecks so we can see the ESPN crew just sit there in silence while we hear papers shuffling and the panic set in. Just see how bad they would implode if it were to happen??
ReplyDeleteincredible racing and DR punch can't keep up
ReplyDeletewasn't expecting all those words in one sentence...Lions, win and thrilling, lol. It's kinda funny cause everyone thought that game would be a dog. My team tried to lose but managed to eek out a win in OT, so I'm just joining the race as well.
ReplyDeleteHonestly Annon, I am just hoping this race ends quickly, we get this JJ lovefest over with and maybe, just maybe ESPN will finally implement these "changes" in the offseason.
ReplyDeleteO lord..out first sailing into the corner of the day.
ReplyDeleteJerry is back to stats and asking questions.
I think it would be a good race if they would show it.
ReplyDeleteJ.D.
ReplyDeleteYou seem to have spies every where. Hearing any TV changes coming up next year?
#08-TLabonte to the garage
ReplyDeleteI decided that Race view is no better than TV. It was showing Juan completely sideways and running into to Clint. One less thing I need to do now.
ReplyDeleteTerry Labonte was in this race?
ReplyDeleteI expect that this has been asked before, but I'm just now seeing it for the first time.
ReplyDeleteIf you have a competition for fastest pit crew throughout the year, then what on earth does a fan vote have to do with it? Just means it's another stupid ESPN gimmick.
Terry Labonte suddenly off the track.
ReplyDeleteDale Jarrett & Andy Petree have taken over play-by-play and are talking over Jerry Punch. Took 100 laps. DJ noticed the #24 stopped slowing down, Andy noticed the #34 in trouble. Jerry Punch was silent.
There could be a 20 car crash right in front of the booth and they wouldn't call it out because they are looking at the monitors. It took way too long to tell us Andretti crashed.
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame ESPN didn't pick up ServiceMaster clean up spots.
ReplyDeleteI think JP would get excited about it.
So far my list of most annoying lines overused in NASCAR broadcasts:
ReplyDeleteMomentum
50 year old
Would you believe
anything DW says with I or WE in it
Debries caution only BC it's mostley NASCAR BS....
Goes sailing by
Brad D.....just annoying
Looking at the crews' visors, I'm thinking maybe Jimmie's visor is adjustable and can be pulled down to block the sun. Then, when the sun sets, he can push it back up.
ReplyDeletesorry guys, watching lions highlights on NFL.com!!!
ReplyDeleteanyway, radio just mentioned the andretti car sitting in 35th in owner points and that scott speed can catch him...i would be interested to see if that comes up on tv as that is a relevant issue for Daytona 2010
Ive got the International TV coverage synched with MRN so that the pictures and audio go together. All hoping that Jerry Punch gets shafted away from the booth next year because even us aussies can't stand him. :(
ReplyDeleteWOW, did it really take that long for ESPN to find a wrecked car?
ReplyDeleteI got the tv and Sirius sync'd good I thought but, at least 15 sec. passed and no car. Didn't even show it until after the caution.
Pit command is almost a minute behind tv and radio and they called the caution before tv ever showed Andreti.
How long does the yellow flag have to be out before Punch mentions it?
ReplyDeleteHow can you award a fateast pit crew of the year award when there is still a race in progress?????
ReplyDeleteI guess Jimmy really is the champion now.....as they see it.
PammH - Terry Labonte has not been mentioned once today. Just embarassing.
ReplyDeletewow who would have thought there were at least 3 lions fans on the blog...that is pretty cool
ReplyDeleteDavid, Glenc1, Haus14
I am watching ABC with only ABC audio.
ReplyDeleteI cannot imagine anyone seeing this and understanding what the appeal of NASCAR is. They are ruining the sport, absolutely ruining it.
Even if you love Jimmie Johnson, you cna't be liking this coverage.
If Jerry Punch says "If you are just joining us" one more time, I am going to puke.
ReplyDeleteJERRY: People aren't tuning in midway, they are tuning OUT!
@JoeGibbsRacing - Rumblings of rain showers nearby - but we have lights here. #nascar
ReplyDeleteWhat happens if we get an hour-long rain delay? Would ABC deign to give us any post-race at all?
Don't believe glen is a Lions fan, Might be the Giants since Detroit didnt go OT.
ReplyDeleteStill, two is more than I expected =)
Jimmie, thats just funny.
Punch gives us the top three as they restarted, after they restarted and have changed positons....
ReplyDeleteCalling Punch to the unemployment line, DR JERRY PUNCH, please report the end of the unemployment please!
David, we have been struggling with ending the season on this Google blogspot format.
ReplyDeleteI allow ANONS, so we have been having one very disturbed man who has been stalking me for two years now back at flooding the conversation.
I have probably erased 200 comments today alone.
We have been here for three years and talked about everything in NASCAR TV under the sun.
If you ever have a problem with me, just email me directly at editor@thedalyplanet.tv anytime.
Thanks for your patience.
Jd
Punch just gave it away. Said "we are told..." about the car hitting the wall. Too bad they have to watch the monitors and listen to someone else to call the race.
ReplyDelete- Second time Jerry told us the Marcos Ambrose stats.
ReplyDelete- Dale Jarrett has to tell us about the wave around cars
- JJ most mentioned at 78, Tony Stewart second at 50, Mark Martin thrid at 38.
@ Anon 4:41 - you're right. I'm a 48 fan, but the ESPN coverage does him more disservice than anything.
ReplyDeleteIt's not Jimmie's fault that ESPN is so bad in coverage, but I suspect many people will blame him for NASCAR appearing so boring.
busch61-I don't even remember hearing him on radio either, but multi-tasking makes it tuff to keep up w/everything!
ReplyDeletedidn't say I was a fan, lol...but glad to see them do better...no city should suffer that long!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm turning on MRN now. No idea what's going on.
I didn't know the safer barriers are made of concrete.
ReplyDeleteWas watching Football and each time the football game went to commercial I would switch to the Nascar race. All I saw was JJ, tight shot or JJ in car camera. I guess it is another JJ show.
To bad.
Kyle can't get his tear off on his visor off. Fingerprinted it up, wants a rag to clean it. Made note to put a tab on visor next year.
ReplyDeleteAnon, this is the race blog. Brian was on RaceDay. That is the other post. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHuh JD? You lost me. I was answering a previous annon person's question. I want this race season just over with so that hopefully there will be changes at ESPN in the offseason.
ReplyDeleteI do think we need a new format in perhaps a forum type but then you start talking about $$ and hackers.
Punch is just bad. Just call the action and stop telling stories.
ReplyDeleteHmmm. Looks like there are some drivers going all outtoday that we might not have expected! Interesting.
ReplyDeleteThere will be changes all over the place for next season. Keeping this format through Jan 1st.
ReplyDeleteyou know, I have to admit...MRN made that Montoya hit sound a lot more exciting than it looked. But...I think that's the direction to be erring in, not the other way around.
ReplyDeleteyes, Giants fan here.
How in the world do they miss an accident on pit road? They just don't know how to pick the right cameras. It's almost comical, if it weren't so sad. Painful.
ReplyDeleteThat was chaos.
ReplyDeleteJD, whatever format you use, just don't leave us hanging next year! This blog is the only thing that gets me through to races most weekends!
ReplyDeleteDang it my two guys are banging into each other!
ReplyDeleteCan't believe there were people yesterday saying Reid wasn't any better than Punch.
Reed is behind the wall.
ReplyDeleteWow. ESPN looked lost. No one looking out the window. Glad they caught a replay. Tough day for RPM and E-Sad.
ReplyDeleteTony and Juan....fiery little bunch there...
One way or another, we will make it work next year. Just depends on where I am and what I am doing.
ReplyDeletei'm out. have a great evening, gang!
ReplyDeleteOh, thank god: I was worried they weren't going to have another chance to show the Texas wreck. Glad they got that in again.
ReplyDelete104960194 replay of Johnson's Texas wreck.
ReplyDeleteWell JD the benefits of other formats is if you can approve accounts you can give permissions to users to remove posts/etc. Should be interesting.
ReplyDeleteBut I do need to echo the thanks for all you have done for us the past 3 years. If it wasn't for here I would lose my mind and really probably be about fed up with NASCAR. At least here it has been proven certain people DO look, DO listen and DO care. So thanks to Rick Allen, Steve Byrnes, SPEED, FOX, Kyle Petty, and any others that have come here and given us some consideration!
There are so many TV guys, PR reps and network folks who funnel info here I could never do it without their help.
ReplyDeleteOne of the football coaches at my old high school his brother use to be the Lions coach for years Wayne Fontes.
ReplyDeleteWhy is Jimmie b**ching about people racing him this IS a race right?
Thanks for your hard sorry some people can't find lives and have to harass you :(
Hard to believe Kasey Kahne, Joey Logano, Jamie McMurray, and Brian Vickers have not been mentioned once in over 130 laps!
ReplyDeleteWhen is the Espn contract up - in 3 years?
ReplyDeleteJust think what kind of shape Nascar racing will be in after Espn gets done with their contract.
JD,
ReplyDeletewe do appreciate all of it. I'll follow you with changes that you make.
@ JD, I'll follow in the TDP conga line too.
ReplyDeleteWell, I guess Junior isn't going to change his luck before the end of the year, is he? What a nightmare! Of course, bouncing the car off the wall several times doesn't help. Sigh.
ReplyDeletefull screen green flag stop...
ReplyDeleteDoes PIP technology elude ESPN?
This run-time is scaring me. Won't be around for the end of this one I don't think
After ESPN gets done with this current contract, they may have damaged NASCAR enough that they'll be able to retain the rights for less money.
ReplyDeleteNo love for Casey Mears either? Pretty solid day all around for RCR
ReplyDeleteok not even fishing showing a pitstop and go 2 a commercial that makes alot of sense.
ReplyDeleteThru the field on MRN
ReplyDeleteAdd me to the appreciation line JD! Be glad to make a contribution to help with the expenses.
ReplyDeleteAnyone else think of that old Hee Haw song "Gloom, Despair and Agony On Me" whenever they show Jr these days? :)
The problem is that is that if NASCAR wants network television in the fall, they have little choice but to deal with ESPN.
ReplyDeleteNow, things may all change with Versus and NBC becoming corporate cousins before too long - Bob Costas hosting the Indy 500, anyone?
IRL will absolutely move to NBC...trust me. They want to promote that property badly....
ReplyDeleteBrad D just repeated the same RCR praise everyone else has already said.
ReplyDeleteAnnon, sounds better than Brent M!
ReplyDelete
