Live Blogging Mods and Trucks From Bristol (SPEED - 6PM ET)
It's one of the most interesting days of the year on SPEED. Viewers get to see the NASCAR Modifieds in a combined North and South Series show before the Camping World Trucks take to the high banks of the Bristol Motor Speedway.
Mike Joy and Dick Berggren call the Modified action that includes Ryan Newman and an all-star cast of Mod regulars at 6PM ET. This race is so very different that it is a hit every season. Joy and Berggren both make the entire race exciting from start to finish.
The Camping World Trucks are next with Rick Allen, Phil Parsons and Michael Waltrip on the race call. Ray Dunlap and Adam Alexander are on pit road. Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski and Elliott Sadler are crossing over to race in the series and there is quite a variety of drivers in the field.
The new pavement at Bristol allows the trucks to have two racing grooves and that is very important for this series. The leaders are going to begin lapping quickly and the difference between the experienced and non-experienced drivers is going to show-up quickly.
Update: News from SPEED is that Kyle Busch is going to be moved to the rear of the field after having to change engines. That is going to put a whole new storyline into play for the TV network as Busch, who was on the pole, moves through the field.
This post will serve to host your comments on the Mod and truck races Wednesday night on SPEED. To add your TV-related opinion, just click on the comments button below. This is a family-friendly website, please keep that in mind when posting. Thanks for taking the time to stop by.
This race is being time shifted by SPEED a bit to make sure the trucks start on time.
ReplyDeleteThat's why live info from Twitter and Facebook is ahead of the TV.
:(( Twitter
ReplyDeleteOh, Boris Said in the Buick commericla
Thats how you pass on a short track, im looking at you Jeff Gordon
ReplyDeleteGreat action and the pictures follow it.
ReplyDeletethe blimp cam is really nice
ReplyDeleteAnd the skies opened on the final laps, so I miss the finish due to satellite interruption.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the Mods!
ReplyDeleteHappy for Newman!
Hoping for a great Truck race tonight! :)
that was awesome. Why can't they *all* be like that????
ReplyDeleteHappy Mods & Pick 'em Ups Racing from Temper Valley <3
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the Mods as always :). They always put on a great show!
Congratulations to Ryan :)! What a shame for Ted :(
Looking forward to Jen's profile! Been looking forward to it since Sammy mentioned it earlier today :),
Now sadly i bet the cup race will be alot of single file snoozing as this race has been since the Chase was brought in
ReplyDeleteHope the trucks dont disappoint though
well...he sounded okay and had all the words right. For that I am grateful.
ReplyDeleteOld man 1, "recording artists" 0.
ReplyDeleteHis heart was in it, he knew the words and I appreciate his effort.

ReplyDeleteDaggone, I thought our troll had finally gotten a girlfriend! No such luck.
ReplyDeleteWow. Great save by BK...didn't hit a thing.
ReplyDeleteNice replay. Mikey sure is talking a lot more than he did last weekend.
ReplyDeleteI think the small crowd is due to the recent weather we have had around here. It was unbearably hot and humid earlier and we had significate flooding yesterday (flooded out a tent camping area and more). Today, the weather has been dreary, overcast but still humid all day with occasional sprinkles. With the probability of rain and humidity, I don't think the locals want to risk attending the race. Also, tomorrow is the first day of schools in several areas near the track.
ReplyDeleteThey must be paying Mikey by the word again. Too much and too fast.
ReplyDeletethanks for the update, Osbornk--I was wondering about those camping areas. There is weather all around them tonight but they were sorta in the middle. Shame to see all those empty seats for the mods, too, but people can't always get off early. We used to see people trickle in for Richmond and you could see they didn't even have time to change clothes.
ReplyDeleteSeems to have settled down a bit. He gets really hyped on these one day show.
ReplyDeleteKyle Busch in the top ten. Something to prove.
Hey all, taking your comments tonight on the SPEED coverage of the CWTS from Bristol Motor Speedway.
ReplyDeleteAll we ask is that you stay on topic, do not use profanity and refrain from derogatory comments.
Thanks.
I think it looks like there are a lot of fans at the track. Good broadcast so far except I wish Mikey would take a breath once in a while to give us some relief!
ReplyDeleteYes this is good stuff, a wreck fest so far so cant give a good comment on the broadcast but Im do like what I see! Bristol is awsome
ReplyDeleteMikey there are 3 of you in the booth. It is a group effort.
ReplyDeleteA few 2x4's stuck in the front bumper would have saved Dillon's crew a lot of work today.
ReplyDeleteGood god, why do we need a caution for everything??
ReplyDeleteMikey has jabbered so much he has lapped the field. I'm done with it.
ReplyDeleteWhat bums me out when Waltrip is like this is that he talks right overtop of Phil Parsons.
ReplyDeleteParsons was working this series and on this telecast team long before Waltrip was added.
I think MW should realize that when he behaves like this it turns fans off.
Just like his big brother, all of a sudden he knows everything.
I hope Parsons sets him straight o the air before this is over.
Oh man what I would give to have Neil Bonnett to still be with us.............
ReplyDeleteMikey just makes me tired when he does his jabber, jabber routine!
ReplyDeleteSorry to the other two in the booth, but I may have to watch the remainder of this one on mute!
They force us to listen to a Waltrip and wonder why the ratings suck? Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out.
ReplyDeleteIt's sad. When Mikey slows down and doesn't try to set a world record jabbering, he can actually be very informative and interesting. this is NOT one of those times.
ReplyDeleteI'm East Coast & taping, but Mike is again driving me nuts tonite! And Vile Kyle is being a butthead as usual, imo. Gonna check out the end in the morn.
ReplyDeleteRemember the last truck race? He was great!
ReplyDeleteI do remember, JD. That's what makes nights like this so frustrating! DW is the same way. get him in a 1 on 1 interview, and he's great! Guess we just shouldn't take the Waltrip boys out in public?
ReplyDeleteNorm Benning = Milka Duno
ReplyDeleteHe was a contender in ARCA. That was a long time ago.
ReplyDeleteThey call a caution because a truck gets loose? That's worse than the "debris" cautions.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if there was a reason to have a caution there. The two truck ended up both going straight again.
ReplyDeleteIf they call cautions in the Cup race like they are calling them tonight, we'll be up all night.
ReplyDeleteTimothy Peters might have a little something for Elliott Sadler before the night is over.
ReplyDeleteBummer for Schrader.
ReplyDeleteMight not be the last caution. Like to hear from Elliott Sadler or Timothy Peters.
ReplyDeleteNot the ending we wanted, but the action is back at Bristol for sure.
ReplyDeleteNo TV tomorrow, just NASCAR Now at 5PM and Race Hub at 7PM.
Big day on Friday. Complete TV schedule is on the main page.
Thanks for stopping by everyone!
JD
Good telecast by Speed.
ReplyDeleteDid not watch the trucks, when a Waltrip is involved the channel gets changed.
ReplyDeleteThe Mod squad on the other hand. great race. Nothing like seeing Mike and Dick get to talk about their beloved modifieds.
Great TV, As I have stated before:
Nothing wrong with NASCAR that 43 Modifieds every week would not cure.
I couldn't deal with Mikey's
ReplyDeletedialed up Batman dialogue so I tuned in only after the Braves baseball game ended at about 20 laps. I will wait for the Race Hub recap this evening.
Too bad our fav ended his race 3 laps early but glad everyone was ok. Starr looked a little uncomfortable guess his back was really bothering him but he still had that signature smile on his face (and I'm so happy that Speed interviewed several of the drivers that were involved in that wreck). Great broadcast (except for Mikey hogging the mic) and it looked like a good crowd at Bristol for a Wednesday evening. Looking forward to a super racing weekend.
