Live Blogging Camping World Trucks In Kentucky (SPEED - 7:30PM ET)

Everyone is on vacation! Friday night the weekend begins with the Camping World Trucks at the Kentucky Speedway.

Krista Voda hosts the pre-race with Ray Dunlap and Adam Alexander as the reporters. Rick Allen, Phil Parsons and Michael Waltrip will call the race on SPEED.

Kentucky Speedway is fast and the trucks should quickly split into to groups. Those who can stay on the lead lap and those who are destined to get lapped a lot. This is a very diverse field tonight and it should be interesting to notice how many "start and parkers" are going to crank it up.

The speedway makes good TV pictures at night, but it is yet to be seen how many cameras SPEED will have available tonight. The CWTS TV team is well-known to most fans. The show is straightforward and makes sense to fans.

This post will host your comments on the TV coverage of the trucks from Kentucky. To add your opinion, just click on the comments button below. This is a family-friendly website, please keep that in mind when posting. Thanks for taking the time to stop by.

  4. i may be dropping in and out.

Are people just now realizing how rough this track is though?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Krista has a Dr. Dick hat :)

Yup may be a slow night :( maybe folks will come after they finish nomming

    ReplyDelete
  6. Did you see what happened to KyBu in qualifying? That was wild! His truck actually got air when he hit that bump.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Don't know how I feel about her hat thang....

    ReplyDelete
  8. Hey, no vacation for me either tonight. We'll help prop up the blog, you can count on it!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Hi David, Pammmmmmmmmmmm and Vicky :)

I missed it during quals but just saw that...kewl!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Hi all just got in waiting on TV to get set, yup could be a small group tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Just finished my fish tacos so am ready to sit down for the race (well if doggy lets me!)

    ReplyDelete
  12. hi JoJaye and Sally

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'm not a Kyle hater, yet I hate the fact the media adds all KyBu wins in all NASCAR series - yet the "old timers" and other racers have only their Cup or top tier races count. Or do I have it wrong ?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Why, why, why do TPTB think Weed's wins across 3 series equals Cup wins??? I don't get it.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I'm here!

    S&P prediction tonight: 87, 72, 93, 85, 95, 07, 01

    ReplyDelete
  16. @Jojaye - All the old-timers' win count included their Busch wins (I don't think any of them won any Truck races).

    ReplyDelete
  17. Pretty good S&P count for a stand alone race!

    ReplyDelete
  18. @Jojaye - My bad! Mark Martin's total includes 40 Cup wins, 48 Busch wins and 7 Truck wins.

    ReplyDelete
  19. MV...but the media doesn't say he has 96 wins, do they?

    ReplyDelete
  20. @JD - Don't know if Cope would have run the whole race, but Harmon sure would have been a S&P. They were outqualified by part-time teams running the whole distance.

    ReplyDelete
  21. @Sally - You're right, Mark Martin doesn't get that kind of media treatment, only Kyle Busch does.

    ReplyDelete
  22. MV & Sally - thanks I know The King never ran Busch series because he refused to pose with the sponsor product

    ReplyDelete
  23. No doubt what Kyle has done across all 3 has been impressive but they aren't equal. It comes back to NASCAR pushing their idea that the NW and Trucks are in some way equal to Cup just like when they push loop data down our throat and when they tell us the racing is more competitive than ever with closer finish and more passes and more cars on the lead lap when we all know why that is the case...

I'm pulling for Kyle but id like to see Skinner or Almirola get it. Anyone but Bodine...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Not so great on the anthem so far, but loving the sash...;)

    ReplyDelete
  25. And what a happy and loving couple Matt Crafton and his wife/girlfriend look like!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Lets see Miss Kentucky cute, sings better than most, appropriately dressed & proper attitude. Not bad at all. Much better than most "pro" singers lately

    ReplyDelete
  27. Then I'll root for Bodine, lol. My feeling about the whole Kyle deal is, if Tony Stewart had had the ambition to run the races Kyle did, he probably would have won even more than Kyle. Others too, perhaps, but Tony comes to mind because he has raced in so many kinds of vehicles. I think Kyle's good for the sport, but I think he also hurts it sometimes. He makes for good TV, but I'll admit I've turned away early more than once. I'm not sure how NASCAR feels about him taunting the fans though. Pretty classless, as were his Reuty comments. Sort of insulting, rather than just showing 'personality'. Anyways, it is media driven, not Kyle driven.

Actually I kinda like the anthem. It was honest, though weak. I mentioned on the Friday notes page, Foreigner is NOT doing the Cup anthem, lol. It was some gospel group which will hopefully do well.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Agree JoJaye not the best but much better than what we've been tortured with of late

    ReplyDelete
  29. When I see the Trucks I think of Johnny Benson. You would think he would be on Tv, in a truck/car or talking to us.

    ReplyDelete
  30. @ glen - A huge Thank you for that news.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Things are so different, you can't compare past and present records. I think records of the old time racers that raced on lousy tracks in converted street cars without power steering should get a double count for their victories when they are compared to the pretty boys of today that drive special built race cars with power steering while wearing cool suits on smooth racetracks with spotters to assist their eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Nice job of giving spotlight on the newer, lesser known truck racers! Good job Speed

    ReplyDelete
  33. I hope this start is clean with no big wreck.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hi everyone,

The #81 is back! I think that's great and I hope Germain Racing runs the 77 team and Miguel full time next season.

    ReplyDelete
  35. they also forgot to mention; drivers didn't have the opportunity to drive at those young ages. They had to prove themselves first back in the day.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Be fun to have Max in this series next year fulltime.

    ReplyDelete
  37. How big is this track?
The header said Lap 1 for 5 laps, at least.

I don't think they said who lead lap 1 either. I think Sauter took the lead before the start/finish, but expect my announcers to tell me that.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Nice to see Steve Park back in the trucks. Talk about a hard luck guy...

    ReplyDelete
  39. Max=personality. Would be good for the series.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Looks like we got single groove racing going on right now.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yes, Max certainly seems to enjoy his Nascar racing. He is always SO happy when he has a good run...or even manages to qualify! Don't often see that kind of genuine joy these days.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Steve is a nice guy in person too. Got his autograph a few times.

    ReplyDelete
  43. That felt like a long time before the first commercial.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Agree can't wait to see Mad Max here FT! He's good people :)

The SParkies are happy to see Steve running. We've missed him! Hope they get a deal going to bring him back FT

    ReplyDelete
  45. Single groove except wherever KyBu is passing everyone in sight.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Shelby Howard back in the #2. Lets see how this week goes. I'm glad they gave him another chance after their engine blew last week.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Gymmie, the '1' in my name was originally from Steve...at the Glen. Would love to see him return.

    ReplyDelete
  48. @roger - Only the "number 81" is back, Randy Moss is a 1-truck team now and the 81 truck is actually last week's 21 truck out of SS Green Light Racing.

As far as anthem singers go, I thought the French-Canadian singer in Montreal did an awesome job considering it's not even her own anthem.

    ReplyDelete
  49. She was a pro! Like maybe an opera singer. What a set of pipes. Loved those Montreal fans. The track...not soooo much.

    ReplyDelete
  50. awesome Glen <3 Steve's a great guy and so sweet.

    ReplyDelete
  51. @JD - I was born near Montreal and was spending some of my vacation time with family there that weekend. I asked for pit passes from a team, but didn't get them.

You're right, the fans in Montreal really love their NASCAR racing.

    ReplyDelete
  52. JD, that track sure made for some drama though, lol. I enjoyed watching the fans enjoy the race.

If Ricky gets this car thing down, he would be great for the series. Any guy who can make goat noises on the radio...

    ReplyDelete
  53. -sigh- why do we have to see people getting into the wall via replay?

this is getting irritating for ALL of the broadcast partners.

MV, any word on why Jason White is in a Ford this week?

Howard is running because he brings sponorship

    ReplyDelete
  54. I got an e-mail from Michigan International Speedway this week. I went to the August race for 18 years in a row. Near the end of me going I got tickets in the Champions Club. It sits below the Press box and Suites. The cost was $450 for the three day weekend. On Friday was an ARCA race, Saturday was Nationwide and Sunday the Cups guys. Then the price went to $480 but the schedule did to. No race on Friday, Nationwide race on Saturday and Sunday the Cub. In this e-mail I see the price is now $490 and the schedule has changed. Saturday is a Truck race and Sunday the Cup.
Seems price is going up and getting less.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Wow Charlie, thats alot for a little. I figure anything over 300 to go to a Cup race is outrageous and thats pushing it for Daytona 500/Bristol night race tickets.

Hopefully the race next Feb in Phoenix will be cost effective. I do know it ruined the NHRA date though and they don't know when they will run that now

    ReplyDelete
  56. funny, Charlie, Michigan keeps running those ads saying they're listening to the fans. Guess not so much. Not sure if those are national ads, we get them in Upstate NY.

    ReplyDelete
  57. @David - SS Green Light has no factory support from any manufacturer, so they're going back and forth using trucks they're buying from other teams. That Ford is an ex-Roush truck if I'm not mistaken and I think Starr's Toyota comes from his old team. I would think SS Green Light Racing won't spend money switching sheetmetal since no manufacturer is paying them anything.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Did we miss the pass for the lead?

    ReplyDelete
  59. Weird race tonight. Good pitstop coverage though.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I knew they were solo on support MV, but what makes me more curious is what is the status of the engines they are running. I imagine they cant run the same engine type in all the chassis since some of the mounting points etc are different between the makes. Perhaps a statement of how unhappy they are with the Dodge engines?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Great, enjoying the race so far! Go Bodine I hope he beats Kyle tonight!! Last week was great seeing Todd use all his stuff up in Chicagoland but came up oh so short

    ReplyDelete
  62. I wonder if it has occurred to anyone that one of the major changes in the pst few years with racing is the distance nowadays between the fans and the drivers? When I went to martinsville in 2001 my pit pass had me standing in front of the haulers right behind the garage. Had drivers walking all over where I was. Same for Bristol. That used to be one of the attractions of Nascar. Now they keep fans behind chain link fenc or glass with slots like you local stop and rob. I wonder if that has made some of the difference?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Sally think about it though after Sept 11 2001 things changed and it is what it is they wanna keep the drivers safe I wouldnt feel safe w just anyone walking around if I was a driver you never know

    ReplyDelete
  64. @David - I'm sure Jason White's Ford came with a Roush engine, he has been using it strictly on superspeedways (Daytona and Michigan). They must be getting some engineering support from a few big teams and Jason White is having the best Truck season of his career so far.

The Dodges they've been running probably all came from GunBroker.com Racing, a team that was absorbed by SS Green Light Racing in the off-season.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I see no reason to show the mph of the two cars running together. Does nothing for me.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I have to say that this race (at yet another 1 1/2 mile flat track) doesn't make me look forward to having a Cup race here next year. Fowwow the leader get in front and stay there racing just isn't my cup of tea.

    ReplyDelete
  67. wow charlie complain much?

    ReplyDelete
  68. Is this really fun for Kyle? Was he beat up and picked on as a child? I am really tired of him.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Actually they more merged then they were absorbed as Jason White was on SIRIUS a few weeks back stating that his sponsor practically owns the team.

He has has a great season but those 3 straight engine failures really hurt the standings and results.

I'm somewhat familiar with SS Greenlight since I like Jason and hope he gets a good shot in a top truck or NW team in the next 2 or 3 years but I wasn't sure all the details of what they were doing.

Doing alot with a little though.

    ReplyDelete
  70. hi Jon :)

That's a shame Charlie :( Get less and less and they want to charge an arm and a leg :(. This is why folks can't go and forcing a "blackout" won't help have to address the reasons folks aren't putting their butts in the seats.

Like him or not Kyle knows how to put on a show

    ReplyDelete
  71. @Patrick - I'm sure Kyle wants to recover as much of the money he invested into his team. After Miccosukee pulled out, he said he wouldn't have started his own team. I wouldn't be surprised if he cashed in on the year-end owners fund and went back to Billy Ballew Motorsports next year.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I'm not a great fan of KYBU - yet I got to give the brat his props. He can flat out drive. Just be grateful he had to start from the back & his truck isn't running well, otherwise it would have been all KyBu all night. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  73. I love it that Kyle's finance is on Twitter during the race hawking his merchandise! Gotta pay for that big wedding I guess!

    ReplyDelete
  74. @DalyPlanet Editor

    ; ) Me Owww lol

    ReplyDelete
  75. Oh yea, Freudian slip!

I have been trying to avoid the other term for sometime now! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  76. I like finance better ! You get her tweets? finance fits well....

    ReplyDelete
  77. MV, race for free and take a multi-million dollar loss? nah Kyle will keep doing KBM if not for the late model team

    ReplyDelete
  78. here we go restart time!! Btw who ever produced that Chase commercial needs to do a better job on matching the voice over with the video lol

    ReplyDelete
  79. Last post of nite, cause I'm enjoying some adult beverages! ummm--why should I watch the best racing of the 3 series when Weed is gonna win-even when starting in the back? And make fun of the fans that detest him when he does? And the media is gonna grant him Superman status? I haven't listened to much Sirius this wk because of that. They have lost me as a fan w/this bs. That is it for me~wave~

    ReplyDelete
  80. G'nite Pammm - have 1 for me

    ReplyDelete
  81. No way that BareBond is going to hold up, they'll have to put in a new sheetmetal piece there.

    ReplyDelete
  82. night Pammmmmmmmmmmmmmm :(

    ReplyDelete
  83. 'Night Pammmm. Have a couple for all of us!

    ReplyDelete
  84. I'm surprised the #72 John Jackson and #85 Brent Raymer are still running, thought they'd S&P.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I wondered if some of the S&P regulars would save their money to run a race where there was not a ton of Cup guys around.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Does anyone have any idea what the Hendrick/MM announcement tomorrow will be?

    ReplyDelete
  87. Probably Kahne in the #5...

    or maybe a sponsor...

    ReplyDelete
  88. Retirement after 2011?... Nah! :)

Probably a sponsor. Kahne to the #5 not likely to happen after all that rumor mess with Mark.

    ReplyDelete
  89. MV, I personally feel Rick Hendrick himself fueled those rumors and is trying to push Mark out without spelling it out directly. He knew the deal when he went after Kahne and could have at any time completely diffused the rumor. Hell have we forgotten how Jr got his HMS ride? They fired Kyle Busch for him when "there was no room at the inn"

    ReplyDelete
  90. I think Hendrick had other reasons to want Kyle gone from HMS. Rather like his brother at Roush?

    ReplyDelete
  91. I wouldn't be surprised David :(. But will be interesting to see what they say. Hope it's good for Mark #Blessthe5

    ReplyDelete
  92. Guess they need a thru the field so the booth knows who is laps down.

    ReplyDelete
  93. @David - Maybe GoDaddy.com agreed to move to Red Bull Racing with him to make room for Kasey. Or Stewart-Haas adding Mark in a 3rd car.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Any ideas on what the Mark Martin press conference tomorrow is about?

    ReplyDelete
  95. Maybe Wal-Mart made him an offer. As a greeter.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Stewart is not and will not add a 3rd car. That much has been made clear. He will not hire people for 1 year just to lay them off and he still doesn't have full funding for either of his cars. Adding a 3rd is plain stupid for Stewart-Haas. I'd have no respect for Smoke if they did that.

However, Kyle getting the boot from everything I heard from people in the know was it was a Kellogg's decision but still, giving up what they did in talent for Jr seems to be something that will bite them in the long run.

GoDaddy probably won't leave with Mark though, if anything I'd think they'd want Kahne more since it fits their "brand"

Anyways just speculating, hopefully it will be just to reaffirm 2011. If it was more I think more speculation would be out there then what has been said so far

    ReplyDelete
  97. I think Rick Hendrick decided he didn't need that headache (Kyle). Nothing to do with Jr. He wasn't running that bad at HMS. But he's just not a Mr H kind of guy. On the other hand, Mark's been treated like crap this year, Mr H is not perfect.

Patrick, that was mean but it made me laugh. Though Mark still has championship in him under the right circumstance.

    ReplyDelete
  98. David, if that's true Kyle screwed himself with his attitude. Just saying.

    ReplyDelete
  99. @David - Stewart-Haas has been training crew members in conjunction with TRG Motorsports. I think the seat of the #71 is still available for 2011.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Bobbie Hutchins ( I think I got his name right) & Smoke have both said they were not adding a 3rd car this year when the KK/MM rumors started. Can't imagine why HMS would make an announcement for Stewart/Haas. Maybe MM & HMS came to a buy out, payoff & MM is leaving...

    ReplyDelete
  101. training a pit crew and fielding a 3rd car are two very different things. They aren't giving TRG cars, or engineering support or any of that.

It just wouldn't be smart because honestly, GoDaddy ain't paying all the bills at Hendrick either... Why have 3 cars with 3 sponsors, none of which even cover a single car for a full season?

    ReplyDelete
  102. Nobodys really talking about tonites broadcast, its actually one of the better ones this year. Everyones doing a good job and mikey has contained himself. theyve made a boring race fun to watch

Btw Patricks comment was hilarous ha

    ReplyDelete
  103. They've been pretty good tonight but far too often they have missed wrecks or near wrecks with slow camera work. that's my only gripe

    ReplyDelete
  104. I hate these gas mileage things.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Rocky, it's been solid and fun to watch. No hype, no BS and not too much MW. I agree.

    ReplyDelete
  106. #01 Chris Lafferty is still in the race, after all the problems they've had this weekend, I didn't think they'd run the full distance.

    ReplyDelete
  107. God not Todd Bodine....ever since Richmond 2002....

    ReplyDelete
  108. funny thing...we don't talk as much about the TV coverage if it's good.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Nice coverage tonight - not to much to complain about here. A few missed things - but not the cluster of cup series. Just enjoying the race, KyBu won't win & wide camera shots.

    So just chatting away here
And I love the greeter comment

    ReplyDelete
  110. awesome finish for Jason White!!!

    Goat and Sieg too

    ReplyDelete
  111. Congrats to Bodine, Germain & all his fans!
G'nite all. Heading for St Pete Beach early in a.m. enjoy the day see ya!!

    ReplyDelete
  112. I didn't have a lot of issues with the broadcast tonight. I'm glad Mikey didn't talk on and on that's usually my criticism of it. Glad Todd won!

    ReplyDelete
  113. That was a good one. Nice job Speed.

    ReplyDelete
  114. And kyle misses adding to his "...in a row" streak.

    ReplyDelete
  115. I thought the race coverage was pretty good tonight. We had several incidents only available on replay but it was good work overall.

    ReplyDelete
  116. "I've gotta thank Kyle Busch for driving me dirty"??????????????????

    ReplyDelete
  117. Yeah, and can I express how much I dislike cueball?!?!?!?!?!?!

Good job SPEED, hope they get some good interviews of other top 10 finishers

    ReplyDelete
  118. hmmmmmmmmmmmm Toonces and Kylie "chatting"

    ReplyDelete
  119. KB in Victory Lane causing a ruckus! Awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  120. I can read lips, even through the backs of heads. Kyle said, "waaaaaahh! sniff. sniff."

    ReplyDelete
  121. Hey, now we got a little storyline going.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Whether you like him or not, KyBu brings viewers to the truck races. Some tune in hoping he will win and some tune in hoping he loses. I watch more races because he is in them. I watch him so I can see him do things that can't be done by most drivers. He's fun to watch whether you are a fan or not. It's the same thing in the Nationwide Series.

    ReplyDelete
  123. OsbornK...what you're missing is that he also makes viewers tune out. It's kind of a mixed bag. I turn off the TV if I think he's going to win. Haven't seen him do anything that hasn't been done by other drivers who have made the attempt.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Well, that got exciting at the end and even more exciting after the race. See everyone Saturday night for some Nationwide Series action from Atlanta!

    Thanks again for stopping by.

    JD
