Live Blogging Camping World Truck Series From Texas (8:30PM - SPEED)
That is 18 year-old Johanna Long shown above with Steve Byrnes after a Race Hub interview. An up and coming driver who has worked her way through the ranks, Long will start 9th tonight in the truck race. There are lots of good stories in this field.
Krista Voda starts the night with The Setup at 8:30PM ET. Ray Dunlap and Adam Alexander are the pit reporters. The race starts shortly after 9PM. Rick Allen, Phil Parsons and Michael Waltrip will call the action.
TMS has just been very fast today with the low temps and the big power the engines have been making. It should get down into the upper 40's during the truck race.
SPEED is coming off perhaps one of the best truck series telecasts in years. Talladega was done right from start to finish and the reviews were outstanding. TMS should give the TV team another opportunity to show what is right with NASCAR TV coverage.
This post will host your comments about the SPEED telecast of the CWTS from TMS. To add your opinion, just click on the comments button below. This is a family-friendly website, please keep that in mind when posting. Thanks for stopping by.
Hey JD
ReplyDeleteI hope ESPN will take some notes on how to do a good broadcast.
Which Speed usually does.
ESPN has steady competition with speed and I am wondering if ESPN does their own way of broadcasting to spite speed.
Well the way ESPN usually does broadcasts drives viewers away.
Besisdes the trucks usually provides a good show anyway
I'm ready for it!
ReplyDeleteThis should be fun!
ReplyDeletenitpicky but wrong logo for the truck race last week. That was the old logo from last year...
ReplyDeleteAm excited to see the truck race though!
I'm gonna hate the next few wks for the trucks. We get RB, but it's the end of the wk, I'm old & thankfully have a job, so I can't stay up so late...:( I will still tape. Hope Weed doesn't ruin them all for me. Enjoy all!!!
ReplyDeleteAlready on the recording you think David?

ReplyDeleteRecording?
ReplyDeleteLost me there for a moment. I feel rusty after having taken a few weeks off.
I keep forgetting how many great Talladega finishes they've had in this series until I saw that feature.
Little lighter on the interviews than I would have expected though
Don't forget TruckBuddy for free tonight over at NASCAR.com!
ReplyDeleteGo check it out.
To hear Eli Gold's voice was so refreshing!!
ReplyDeleteThis should be fun.
ReplyDeleteWould like to that RAM for sponsoring Truck RaceBuddy.
Eli is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI think the lady should speed up the National Anthem or the race will be over before she finishes.
ReplyDeleteThat was BAD. Like, REALLY REALLY BADDDD!!!
ReplyDelete"The Sprint Cup is made to hold things"?!?!?!? Its not even a Cup!!!!!
ReplyDeleteit was very amateurish.
ReplyDeleteAmy should keep her job at Barrett Jackson and nix any dream of becoming a recording artest. That was slow and painful.
ReplyDeleteYep, anthem was too slow I actually posted this comment on previous column. Go David & Parker!
ReplyDeleteTough year for the anthem.
ReplyDeleteIts been a rough several years JD. for every good one, we've had 10 horrible ones.
ReplyDeleteCobb as an onboard will be fun tonight. Tracking their communications will be good too.
Don't think her tire was flat, maybe suspension broke. Listening to the 10 team was cool. Glad NASCAR did this tonight!
ReplyDeletelove this
ReplyDeleteTruckBuddy really shows just how much other racing is going on around the track.
ReplyDeleteThe battle cam is great. You can watch someone setting up a pass for several laps, rather than having the camera skip all over the place every 2 seconds.
ReplyDeleteOk who is in car #1 and 2 on Truck RaceBuddy?
ReplyDeleteOne is Jennifer Jo Cobb. No clue on the male driver. Anyone?
ReplyDeleteI was watching the red car and that is Jennifer. Thanks
ReplyDeletenot a car a truck.
ReplyDeleteI don't know who are the two drivers but I actually like the lights in the background when each truck passes them.
ReplyDeleteMike Skinner is the other in-car.
ReplyDeleteJen Jo and Mike Skinner. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the in-car information on the two drivers.
ReplyDeleteIs Truck RaceBuddy fun or what.
ReplyDeleteYep! Couple more gadgets and it would be even better.
ReplyDeleteIs there a fire near the track or something? cause it looks really smokey on the front straightaway. I noticed it early in the race but I thought it was smoke from pre race stuff. Maybe its just me.
ReplyDeleteFreezing there. Temps in 40's. Campfire smoke?
ReplyDeleteMaybe the truck fans are toasting marshmallows tonight! But I just mentioned that to hubby about it being so smokey there.
ReplyDeleteMikey is yakking too much! I am finding out more information from Racebuddy tonight than the booth.
ReplyDeletePretty good broadcast so far. It would be great if they dumped the ESPN-like radio chatter speaking over the reporters.
ReplyDeleteGood racing is fun to watch when you can see it.
ReplyDeleteLiked the way they showed the finish.
ReplyDeleteSay what you want about KB but he is who you want driving when you need to win. He can get in almost anything and win.
I didn't watch much of the race on Tv. I did the in-car cam with car #2 Jennifer using Truck RaceBuddy in full screen.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed that. The spotter was great - Roll in behind him and hang on. come on.
If I could ride with my driver each week like this I would love it.
The Truck RaceBuddy on NASCAR.com made the race even more enjoyable to watch tonight. The multi-views and the in-truck cameras added to the overall experience tonight. Even my 4 year old son sat down and watched most of the race. It didn't hurt that his favorite driver was in the lead most of the night.
ReplyDeleteI did learn a very important lesson tonight with the audio from the RaceBuddy. Not all NASCAR scanner chatter is suitable for 4 year old ears. No problem thou. There was a great invention on most items that offer sound, and that is the "MUTE" button. Still enjoyed the racing tonight.
A big thank you to whoever created RaceBuddy and thanks for offering it for tonight's race. I am looking forward to watching it next week.
Great comment Jim. Those guys read this blog and they will appreciate that.
ReplyDeleteDid Phil just compare Cale Yarborough's Cup record to Kyle's 3 series record? One day the media will get it.
ReplyDeleteThank you to the Speed crew for doing a great job all day/night.
Thanks for hanging with us! See you tomorrow for the NNS race.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the little bit of RaceBuddy I was able to use. Maybe I'm blind, but I couldn't find any instructions once the 4 cams were showing. It took a while to figure out what cars had the in-car cams. At one time I clicked on one to see what I'd get, and it was just a Dodge commercial so I never tried again. From other posts here, I assume that's how you got to hear the scanner.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I couldn't find a ticker or leaderboard, so I never knew where my favorite driver was. I don't normally have broadband, so I was looking forward to seeing how all this stuff worked. I liked it, but was a little disappointed. Fortunately I love the Speed coverage so I'll be content with that for now.
