The Daly Planet started on a wing and a prayer after some encouragement from friends and support from my family.
Now, after four seasons, I have an entirely new extended family. It's been wonderful to interact with NASCAR fans all over America. Thanks to the wonders of the Internet, our readership also extends to many countries around the world.
I will be taking a short break over the holiday weekend and resuming with original columns early next week. In the meantime, thank you once again for helping with this project and I hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
A very Merry Christmas John!!!

ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and Happy New Years!
wow, jd! has it really been 3 years already? i lurked for what was apparently the first year, somewhat intimidated by the intelligence and civility of the discussions before i screwed up the courage to join in the fun that is TDP!
ReplyDeleteto all my Planeteers buddies: you folks make each racing season so much more enjoyable for this fan! when i think i'm just gonna turn it all off, i find that the thought of not interacting with TDP on race day is a dismal one and each of you has made that happen.
the back half of my year has been pretty nasty and the laughter, friendship, and discussions that you've brought into my life helped me find my way through the medical maze that seemed endless. you simply can't know how valuable that's been to me and just saying "thank you, one and all" seems too little.
and jd? it's been a long, sometimes rough and bumpy but always compelling three years. i can't watch any televised sporting event the same way--not that i'm complaining! you asked the question at the end of one season -- "will you watch again next year? -- and i get to this point in the off-season, ready to answer that again. for me this year, as long as TDP and Planeteers exist, my answer is simply "Hell to the yes!"
thank you, jd. you've kept this nascar fan engaged in our sport, despite the best efforts of many to push me away. enjoy the holiday with family and friends and know that your "virtual friends" are so very grateful for your passion and professionalism.
and i second 51 Yr. Fan: please keep all our service men and women in your thoughts and prayers this holiday season. may they all be home with family this time, next year!
Merry Christmas Mr. Daly and Planeteers!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Happy New Year, Season's Greetings to all!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas all Ye Nascar fans and Happy New Years too. It's been a very interesting year for this 48 fan and we all saw some great racing. I still have that last truck race on DVR I'm saving it for when the withdrawl gets bad.
ReplyDeleteThanks for everything JD this blog has kept me sane on more than one occasion
Happy Holidays to all! Thanks for all of your hard work this season. 58 days to Daytona.
ReplyDeleteVery Merry Christmas to everyone!!

Maybe even some good racing and great TV coverage!
I'm with Red, not sure I would still be watching NASCAR, at least not every weekend, if it weren't for TDP & the Planeteers.
Merry Christmas to all.
Gina Merry Christmas => JD I have to say you give us the best present of all and it last all year long! Thank you!

Merry Christmas to all planeteers from the UK.
ReplyDeleteEach year at this time, I hope the need for this blog goes away during the following 12 months, and during each year, the need gets ever stronger. Thanks JD.
Hey JD, i just thought of something.
ReplyDeleteI just thought about my christmas story, A christmas carol. I was thinking about our own version of the story named The Daly Planet NASCAR christmas carol. I need players to play parts, but Ebenezer scrooge is already taken by BZF.
Any thoughts on any of the story's characters JD.
Thank you for your time and effort JD. We appreciate it even if certain reporters and apologists don't.
