Live Blogging Camping World Trucks From New Hampshire (SPEED - 2:30PM ET)
The Camping World Truck Series might be down, but it is definitely not out. The flat track at New Hamphshire is still a bit big for the series, but the trucks put on a good show for TV.
Kyle Busch was the class of the field, expect him to dominate. The regulars are still putting up a good fight with better stories in this series than the Nationwide tour. Lots of youngsters who fans will be seeing for many years will be on TV today.
Krista Voda starts the coverage with the pre-race show. The Mod race will just have ended, so pit road should be a bit busier than normal. The weather has also been iffy, with a rain delay in the Mod race.
Rick Allen will call the race with Phil Parsons and Michael Waltrip. Ray Dunlap and Hermie Sadler are on pit road. The trucks are a familiar TV package with no surprises. Fans and TV viewers know exactly what they will get.
This post will serve to host your comments on the truck series race from the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. To add your TV-related opinions, just click on the comments button. Thanks for stopping by.
Hey all, no rain please!
ReplyDeleteHave to say the Mod guys are putting on a fantastic show. Bob is doing a great job in the booth. Jimmy is talking over others and himself though.
ReplyDeleteNASCAR is just nuts for not getting that tour on TV. Just shoot it cheap and edit it online.
ReplyDeleteThey're making me laugh with the hermie sadler accent jokes.
ReplyDeleteHey guys. The REAL one is here. (J.D. look above).
ReplyDeleteHarvick and Kyle Busch, the resident cheaters on the front row. Let's hope for an early wrecking of them both then get some real racing.
That poor guy, at least he switched from female body parts! Maybe he has a girlfriend now. Nah, probably not.
ReplyDeleteMan, that weather is looking nasty in the background!
ReplyDeleteGod hope it stays away till at least Lap 88.
ReplyDeleteAlso some good news in terms of KHI's 8 and 33. I hope Eddie Sharp keeps Piquet and Hornaday in their rides. Would be so much easier for them
Trucks parking before the rain: 07 Miller, 66 Yeley, 74 Harmon, 75 (whoever is willing to drive 10 seconds off the pace, Jayski has listed 3 different drivers in this truck this weekend), 87 Jones, 93 Wise
ReplyDeleteCanadian Anthem: A+
ReplyDeleteAmerican Anthem: An ear-grating F. That was a pitiful excuse for a contest winner. Probably chose his bad singing for his age.
You didn't like that one?
ReplyDelete@Adam, come on, it was a little kid! It was better than professionals that forget the words.
ReplyDeleteGeeze Adamn give the kid a break he is blind and autistic. I thought the little guy did a great job.
ReplyDeleteHeck no, it was very painful to my ears, and I have bad ears.
ReplyDeleteWell, the Hoff and Foghat were not available.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry I've pissed people off. As a fellow autistic, I understand what he's going through, but its just me. I'm always a critic.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, didn't take long to be the Kyle Busch show.
ReplyDeleteWas hoping for a two groove track, but not so far.
ReplyDeleteAdd JJC to the S&P list, she was trying to find another engine, but looks like things didn't work out.
ReplyDeleteImagine NASCAR having the Bathurst 1000. That would be fun.
ReplyDeleteThe intensity of the mod race is nowhere to be found in this race.
ReplyDeleteBig move by SPEED sending Mike Joy and DW over to the Aussie V8 Supercars big race.
ReplyDeleteSPEED is pretty much a mess right now. Moving RaceHub to 6PM was awful, the weekday primetime shows are embarrassing and no new NASCAR series or shows added for the Chase.
Going to be interesting to see what they do in the off-season and who is gone come 2012.
why was my post about race buddy deleted? I will try again.
ReplyDeleteI have never watched the truck version of race-buddy and am pleasantly surprised to find both a battle cam and backstretch cam and they are not stationary. What a nice surprise over what we saw last Monday.
Hope this post makes it past the goal-tender.
19 trucks on the lead lap with less than 40 laps run.
ReplyDeleteSally, well it's expected when you have these cheaters.
ReplyDeleteAfter all the feedback, I'm amazed SPEED continues to overuse DW. They sell him like a brand, but the brand is no longer well-recieved.
ReplyDeleteDavid Hill from FOX knows DW brings viewers to anything.
ReplyDeleteShould be interesting to see if folks will watch a series that is not popular in the US.
I think David Hill THINKS DW brings viewers to anything. I'm not sure it is so. It drives some people away.
ReplyDeleteAnon, if you go back through the posts on TDP, you will see my column on the problems with the new Sprint Cup Series version of RaceBuddy.
ReplyDeleteExactly the issues you addressed.
@Anon - gotta agree, truck buddy is a lot of fun. Wow, that 'Dumbest stuff on wheels' promo was in really bad taste. Even the booth didn't see the humor
ReplyDeleteGreat to see Justin Lofton have a good day.
ReplyDelete13 TRUCKS? What the hell is going on here?
ReplyDeleteI bet Nascar wants to throw a fake debris so bad.
ReplyDeleteYou were saying?
ReplyDeleteLots of room on pit road for lead lap cars.
ReplyDeleteMan, this is rough to see. Probably missing eight to ten guys who could totally turn the series around.
ReplyDeleteAnd the camera didn't show the debris.
ReplyDeleteImagine that.
Yeah its called Wayne Auton deciding to do something about the engines in the 18 and 2.
ReplyDeleteRace buddy is cool but ESPN’s way of using it is useless and selfish, but what they obviously don’t get is that it really only works with the original telecast.
ReplyDeleteLast week we were at a hotel in Medford Oregon and a CRT TV should have triggered me but I tried to get SpeedTV anyway and of course they didn’t have it. I tried the hotel hi-speed woreless to watch the trucks through Race Buddy and it didn’t work without the telecast. No audio or replay, lap counter or position ticker.
Race Buddy is cool but not so much without watching on TV at the same time.
The sun is out, this is going to go all 175 laps.
John, ESPN told Turner no cameras that show racing action and no audio of the race from TV or radio and Turner caved.
ReplyDeleteThis is the result.
Just what I want to see. People getting hurt in one show and people getting tattoos in the back of a car in another show.
ReplyDeleteI agree JD, I haven't really watched the trucks since 2008, but when I do check in every once in a while, it's like only 9 or 10 people who raced back in the 2008 season are still there. Good news is Johnny Benson Jr. is supposed to be back full time for the 2012 season. So that means I will have to endure the speed truck coverage next year, but it's worth it to see Johnny Benson race again, So thats 1 of the 8 to 10 guys that you speak of.
ReplyDeleteThis Kyle Busch show is getting disgusting. Has anyone else even led a lap?
ReplyDeleteI don't think Nascar is doing themselves any favors having the first 2 'chase' races on flat tracks. The races tend to be pretty boring...like this one is turning out to be. Just taking the last 10 races of the season and pretending that they will produce the 'best' driver/team in Cup racing was pretty stupid.
ReplyDeleteI made a bad recording choice.
ReplyDeleteI am recording the golf and watching this boring Truck race.
Should have recorded the truck race.
The track is certainly not the problem. The mod race was great. The truck series is the problem.
ReplyDeleteChase should not have Chicago. I don't mind New Hampshire (albeit right now its boring). Next week is a tossup (Dover). Then we have some interesting tracks ahead (Talladega, Charlotte, Martinsville, Texas and Homestead). Just gotta survive Kansas.
ReplyDeleteReplacing Chicago and Kansas would be fine with me. Just leave the other 8.
ReplyDeleteLittle late restart, rough Kyle up and give it a shot...wonder if that is the script today?
ReplyDeleteDid not know pelvis had a plural. The things you can learn online!
ReplyDeleteSwitching to baseball.
ReplyDeleteMike, I am right behind you in about 40 something laps!
ReplyDeleteI;m bouncing around between the race and a college football game. I switch at commercials.
ReplyDeleteAnon, Phil has been working this series for many years. He is the most informed on-air personality where the trucks are concerned.
ReplyDeleteI might not like his S&P activities a while back, but he is clearly a TV veteran.
If you don't like something about him, give us a little summary of what bothers you.
We have our little troll out today (he is off from middle school) so I apologize for deleting your comment.
JD
Washed and waxed the car, now tuning in for the last 50 laps. Reading the previous posts, seems like I didnt miss much.
ReplyDeleteLOL, well I see the troll has stolena another identity.
ReplyDeletehello to the REAL Adam, not whoever the fake is.
I just got home and turned on the TV for the race. See that KyBu is ruining the race for everyone else again.
If I had known how deadly this race would be I would have spent more time with m y horse on this spectacular autumn day here in Michigan.
ReplyDeleteGina, he's been doing it for weeks.
ReplyDeleteOur poor little troll is having a comments moderated meltdown!
ReplyDeleteAh, we love the Internets!
As for the Kyle Busch show, why haven't we tried handicapping trucks like that?
ReplyDeleteAdam, yeah, I know, he's been "me" a few times too. Very annoying. It would be good if he could just go get a life of his own.
ReplyDeleteIs this a boring race or what?
did you guys see the qualifying debacle yesterday? It started to rain right before the last 5 went out and NASCAR wanted them to go with the track wet.
Whats amazing is that altho Kyle has dominated the race, they still only show us his truck, and not any racing behind him for other positions.
ReplyDeleteWow.
This race is scheduled with a time slot to 5:30 et.
ReplyDeleteThis means they can hold the camera at the finish line until all the trucks have finished.
They have the time to do it.
15 Laps to go.
ReplyDeleteeven the booth is bored, they are talking about the barret jackson auction.
ReplyDeleteGuys in the booth seem to be talking a lot about this car auction and less about the truck race.
ReplyDeleteTime to bail on this nap inducer. Hope this isn't what tomorrow will be like, but I don't hold out much hope. Seeya, guys.
ReplyDeleteStop, a caution with 8 laps to go???
ReplyDelete8 to go, hey! Lets show a commercial!
ReplyDeleteWHAAAA???
Please tell me they didn't just go to commercial with less than 10 laps to go!?!?! Not even ESPN would do that. Ugh!
ReplyDelete7 to go and they go to commercial? What is this ESPN at Dover? Geez!!!!
ReplyDeleteStinky race and then a break with less than 10 to do in a race running early.
ReplyDeleteHow can it get any worse?
hey charlie, they heard you, look at that a fixed camera at the start finish line.
ReplyDeleteWell this was a full blown waste of time. Anyone have spike strips?
ReplyDeleteI bet the guys in the booth are thrilled that the race ended sooner then figured so they can go watch the car auction.
ReplyDeleteYa Gina they did hold the camera for the finish.
ReplyDeleteMan, that was brutal.
ReplyDeleteWorst truck race coverage ever. And I like the trucks, sometimes the best coverage, and best racing. Glad I didnt watch the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteTalking about Barrett Jackson dream cars with 12 to go, commercial with less than 10 to go.
ReplyDeleteI think the race was a major letdown and the booth decided never mind. It's going to be Kyle Busch winning, so let's get some ad time in.
ReplyDeleteWayne Auton needs to do something, this was embarassing as hell.
I hope that the cup race won't be as boring tomorrow, although having been to NH many times, it often seems that one car leads the majority of the laps.
ReplyDeleteNice to talk with you folks, have a good rest of your Saturday.
Have I mentioned that I am very tired of dark rainy days?
Might be done with truck series live blogs for this season.
ReplyDeleteReally not worth the time! Going to think about it.
Don't do that please. I don't like participating on the Cup one. I prefer being here for the Nationwide Series and Truck races.
ReplyDeleteBarrett Jackson = yawn!
ReplyDeleteReally the only thing I watch on Speed is The Car Show with Adam and the boys. It's a very ist rate show with some real entertainment value to it. I'm kind of surprised that it's on Speed.
Few peeps in chat Adam. Total numbers on the blog and Facebook are down. NASCAR is plummeting with NFL in season and bad racing on the track.
ReplyDeleteBrian France might not think so, but this sport is in crisis from top to bottom.
I'll think about it. See you guys tomorrow for Cup!
That was quite possibly the worst race of the year, and it was equally matched by a horrid broadcast. That was terrible. Commercial with 7 to go? Seriously? No check of the points after the race. Left 20 some odd minutes early. Spent the final 20 laps talking about Barrett Jackson instead of the race. Pathetic coverage. Good God that was bad.
ReplyDeleteIf that "race" could have been any more boring.... Funny, many weekends the Truck race was the best of the bunch. The Modified race earlier was excellent.
ReplyDeleteJD
ReplyDeleteHow is NASCAR in crisis from top to bottom.
Wow... I left for 5 minutes after the race ended expecting postrace coverage and they went straight to Barrett Jackson? Barebones coverage all around for Speed. Goes to show where their priorities are...
ReplyDeleteGot home, fast forwarded through the recording. Even at that pace I could see the race was not entertaining. What is Kyle doing playing triple A ball? I am watching so much less Nascar than I used to. Almost never watch live anymore.
ReplyDeleteSBTF...seriously? Come on man.
ReplyDeleteDiane, I think the trucks are probably single A and the Nationwide series is closer to triple A if it is not double A. If they had not had a fake debris caution or two, Kyle could have lapped the field.
ReplyDeleteOh
ReplyDeleteI gotcha
when the race gets an "F" its hard for TV to do anything better... But hey I've got a suggestion that will surely liven up the show... Cut 800 lbs off the weight, put 18" wide tires on 'em, widen 'em by 23" or so and put 'em on a 107" wheelbase... what? really? oh... never mind...
ReplyDeleteI watched about 40-50 laps. We went out to eat with about 50 laps to go. I suspect KB won.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great anthem, that's the way to sing it - I hope other tracks notice! The race was a snoozer since KyB was so dominant I didn't even watch the end.
ReplyDeleteOH now Alan is reading a promo for
ReplyDeletethe NFL game on monday. I give up..
Heis theeee luckiest person in the
world...
and finally the fake lafff...
u wont post this anyway
