Live Blogging Sprint Cup Series From Atlanta (12PM - FOX)
The Sprint Cup Series continues the 2010 season at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. The weather is clear and the track is fast.
Chris Myers opens the FOX coverage with the pre-race show from the Hollywood Hotel. He will be joined by Darrell Waltrip and Jeff Hammond. Last week saw more disorganization and less of a focus on the stories of the race. Comedy and inside jokes are pushing this show in a very different direction.
Perhaps, FOX is again seeking to entertain the exclusive casual fan, but after three hours of hardcore NASCAR pre-race news on ESPN2 and SPEED, it's just not working. Myers jokes are not funny and there is very little focus. Hopefully, the show gets back on track after a rough start.
Mike Joy, Darrell Waltrip and Larry McReynolds have been working this weekend on SPEED. They have already hosted the practice sessions and qualifying for the Sprint Cup Series. As they transition from SPEED to FOX, perhaps they can keep the momentum of the week going strong.
On pit road are Krista Voda, Steve Byrnes, Matt Yocum and Dick Berggren. Atlanta has a lot of action, so the reporters will be chasing strategy calls as the race progresses. The leaders can lap quickly here, so keeping viewers updated on the field will be continually important.
FOX has Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman coming from the back of the pack after engine changes. The network has Dale Earnhardt Jr. starting from the pole. They have Jimmie Johnson seeming to be bulletproof. This season, Kevin Harvick and RCR have found themselves and are running strong. There is no shortage of storylines from the drop of the green flag.
Darrell Waltrip holds the key to this race telecast. When he keeps himself in check and acts as a good teammate, things flow well. When he gets emotional and goes overboard with his comments, things fall apart. TV viewers have seen him do both this season.
Atlanta is so fast that it does not lend itself to using the in-car cameras live until the field gets strung out. The low level speed shots are tremendously effective on restarts and through the corners. Restarts on fresh tires are going to be the most exciting parts of the race. We saw that in the Saturday truck series race.
This post will serve to host your comments about the NASCAR on FOX coverage of the Sprint Cup Series race from the Atlanta Motor Speedway. To add your TV-related comment, just click on the comments button below. This is a family-friendly website, please keep that in mind when posting.
Thank you for taking the time to join us today as we live blog the race.
For those interested the Green Flag should drop at about 1:16 pm Eastern Time.
ReplyDeleteI am an old time Nascar fan and I can't believe I am going to do this but I am going to record the race and watch Golf.
Hope the announcers and the camera work is good this time.
Golf??? Oh man, that is a comment on the sport right now.
ReplyDeleteLast week I recorded the Vegas race, then I watched it Sunday evening in about an hour. I started the race watched the first 10 laps real time, the FF to any cautions and stopped about every 50 laps to check the running order. I then watched the last ten laps real time.
ReplyDeleteI actually got things done around the house, I didn't feel tied to the TV. That is an empowering feeling!
The other bonus was not having to listen to the FOX announcers... I use to like them... but I don't feel they are connected to the sport as they where a few years ago. DW talking about driving a car with a wing... When have you ever driven this car with a wing in a real race DW? Larry Mac some old some old topics week after week, very predictable in what he will say.
Didn't quite follow the Tebow story. Interesting they're starting with the track history segment.
ReplyDeleteThe cheesy survelance video of DW and Tim Tebow was all I needed to see to know where this pre-race show is going. Gonna go find something else to watch until 1:16.....
ReplyDeleteWhat is up with Hammonds eyes?
ReplyDeleteAt least it isn't all Jimmie Johnson all the time!
ReplyDeleteAmen leaving the pre-race, returning for the green flag... maybe.. DVR ready...
ReplyDeletegreat, Jr. gets the curse as in-car reporter. and on the pizza episode too..
ReplyDeleteJeff had a little nip and tuck, but I am not so sure it turned out just right.
ReplyDeleteOH WAIT!!! I see a new Speed Monday night show... Who Wants To Be the Next Sprint Cup Girl!!! Quick call Michael he may need yet another job!!
ReplyDeleteAnyone Pizzi?
ReplyDeleteFOX has officially jumped the shark! Have mercy.
ReplyDeleteScott W- Too funny!
ReplyDeleteI'm just flipping periodically looking for interviews... well, not seeing 'em. Lame.
With all due respect Mr. Pizzi's talents appear better served behind the camera. I admire the effort but this experiment just isn't anywhere close to working I'm sorry.
ReplyDeleteThat interview was awful, I give Jr. credit for sitting there the whole time.
ReplyDeleteWatching the pre-race for the first time since Daytona. I don't know why I'm wasting my time. And yea, golf just might be more interesting. Slice of Pizza with Jr was usless.
ReplyDeleteHorrible.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for mute buttons (and in extreme cases, the OFF button)
The current state of Nascar needs all the laughs it can get...keep Pizzi coming!
ReplyDeleteUmmmm....yeahhhh no comment on the pizza guy. At least it amuses one person I guess.
ReplyDeleteGonna disappear for a few minutes, LOVE Atlanta though and I'm quite excited about the race today!
Not too thrilled about FOX's presentation of the race however.
Gonna have the 18 and 42 up on the scanners today for those interested. Will update as things go.
Why does David Hill insist on treating the NASCAR audience like kindergarten kids? Last year cartoons and now the Pizzi crap? Go back to being a sidekick man, Caliendo you are not.
ReplyDeletehere we go squeezing th erock again. Montoya/mcmurray . same old we are ok interviews. let it go!
ReplyDeleteYes I agree with Anon what is going on with Hammonds eyes. They look different plus weeks previously he had been wearing glasses. I wonder what's up unless he just had some sort of surgery. Don't know how we can wait through all the hype for another hour. Can't believe Jr did that segment with Pizzi either.
ReplyDeleteWell, so far aside from the Pizzi bit, I think this pre-race show is better than last weeks. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteFriend of mine had eyelids done for the HD cameras. Kind of looks like that is what Hammond had done.
ReplyDeleteGlad Juan & Jamies declined interviews!
ReplyDeleteThis is also my first FOX pre-show this year... sadly, it may be my last.
ReplyDeleteWord veri- outte. As in get out, THIS is what passes as pre-race? About to abandon this once the Red Wings/Blackhawks hockey game starts.
Hey look, brief driver interview.
Dan, started great. Big difference.
ReplyDeleteFast Track To Fail advert... y'know that's the only time I've seen the embarrassment that happens on that stupid show.
ReplyDeleteLame.
I really enjoyed the Mike Joy piece at the start of the show about AMS history. Good journalism.
ReplyDeleteJJ 'dynasty'? *gags a bit*
ReplyDeleteI'm done...
Jr is doing all he can to re-connect to the fans. Over the last few seasons Jr has been distant. He gained all his fathers fans and now they are aging and leaving the sport to the younger generation. Don't worry, Jr will disappoint yet again this weekend with a car that will break. I see his motor giving out first...Tony and Ryan changed engines from Hendrick, and Jr is hard on the equipment.
ReplyDeleteI think Jr. had th perfect reaction to that pizza idiot...just sit there and stare at him. let him make as big a fool out of himself as he wants, and stay well away from it. At least 1 Hendrick driver stayed above the idiocy.
ReplyDeleteSo, Scott...you're a big Junior fan, eh?
ReplyDeleteGood Grief! Talent show, cooking show for hill billies, Pizzi, they just keep trying to push the Good 'ol Southern Boys stereotype we've been trying to shake for years.
ReplyDeleteThey're not helping with stuff like this!
JJ in a fist fight, might be the only way to beat him.
ReplyDeleteafter race day and now this pre race i have to get away from the tv for awhile. if you are enjoying the show i hope you continue to if not good luck hanging in til the race starts.
ReplyDeleteJD - Hammonds eyes look bigger so he probably had his eyelids done. One of the guys at work had the same thing except his eyes were all purple - maybe HD makeup can hide that!
ReplyDeleteNever have and never will be a Jr fan... I just don't see why anyone could. He doesn't have the talent his father had and I was a fan of Dale. I think it has a lot to do with his fans too... Flip the bird to Kyle B, why? Kyle has won more races in the last few years then Jr. Why hate that, yes he is cocky but he can back it up.
ReplyDeleteThey all say HD is a cruel mistress, especially for guys.
ReplyDeleteScott, that's what keeps Nascar interesting, isn't it? everyone has their favorite driver for lots of different reasons.
ReplyDeleteIs anyone else having audio problems with the Fox channel? I have to turn the volume up to blast just to hear them talk, otherwise all I hear is cheesy background music.
ReplyDeleteSally
ReplyDeleteTrue statement!
Lots of storylines to follow today. No follow the leader with the camera. Tony and Ryan coming from the back, Juan and Jamie, Harvick and RCR on and on....
ReplyDeleteSeems like when Fox goes to a pre-recorded segment the sound goes down, then back to live the sound comes back.
ReplyDeleteDaly Planet Editor
ReplyDeleteJGR off the radar, no one talking about them.
This is a huge race for RCR and Harvick. 29 has struggled for the mostpart since he won there so coming from 35th will be interesting to watch if he moves forward. No excuse for covering leaders alone or single cars. Great track to go through the field.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to get the radio channels up and going!
Hopefully they can catch action as it happens instead of replays
Great point Scott!
ReplyDelete@Anon 12:46
ReplyDeleteNo audio issues
As I said last week, Hamlin has become completely ignored by Fox this year. Suprising, considering he has a big-time sponsor
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to the storm scout segment? And the Carl interview was good, why don't they do more of those, instead of Pizzi, get to know about the drivers that way instead!!!
ReplyDeleteHamlin must be ignored because Fox isn't friendly with FedEx, thats how it goes, look at how much Kobalt is in the show, and how much JJ. They never show Kahne stuff either or Tony Stewart, its all about how much money they can get and if the sponsors aren't involved with Fox, they won't show them.
ReplyDeleteLisa
ReplyDeleteNo chance of rain, so Fox seems to think weathers not an issue. But they are wrong... temps will be higher today then in any practice this weekend. This equals a very slick track....
Just wanted to leave a note for any of the TV folks that may take a look at this board, If it has a Waltrip, I will not watch it anymore. I have been a fan and have followed devotely for 25 years but I just can' take them anymore. I turned on the truck race yesterday, MW was there, I turned it off, I turned on Pre Race today, I turned it off and now I am going outside to work on the Truck.
ReplyDeleteRemove the Waltrips and I will watch again, but not untill..
Wonder if they moved the storm scout segment to later?
ReplyDeleteI live in Mooresville and the truth is Hammond is a fake, he was a fake crew chief, he has a fake sprayed on tan, and he is a fake announcer with a real red neck accent that will never go away. But- maybe he will go away soon as contracts renew soon as the sport has risen above the redneck mentality it once has. His eyes? Well as the song goes. "You can't hide those lying eyes".
ReplyDeleteyou mean to after the race JD?
ReplyDeleteI bet Fox was just beside themselves when Jr. got the pole. Okay, that decided the story line for Sunday. Many teams not mentioned before the race-kinda a shame.
ReplyDeleteMark Wills who?
ReplyDeleteDarrell says if he was starting a new team and could have any driver in the garage area he would pick Carl Edwards. Chris Myers does a great job of picking up on that and immediately asks the right question: "You would even pick him over Jimmie Johnson!?" and Darrell responds "Well I can't have him." Huh? What the heck is DW talking about?
ReplyDeletehey gang! just joining in; will catch up on comments and be back.
ReplyDeleteI think lots of the media is red in the face about Carl Edwards and Denny Hamlin. They were both picked to be hot favorites to unseat JJ this year, and so far haven't come close. That weems to happen quite often. I remember when they all had Jeff Burton picked in '00 or '01? and his next year was awful.
ReplyDeletehey red!
ReplyDeleteNo, I meant until after the top of the hour. The race does not go green until 16 after.
ReplyDeleteWhy would you even dare watch golf when Tiger's not playing?
ReplyDeleteVery respectful anthem and the flyover was great!
ReplyDeleteI know what you meant JD, I was just saying that since the anthem hit that probably means the weather segment is gone. Just being smart lol.
ReplyDeleteOfficials making sure track is clear and all the radios are working.
Pick to win: #5
Sleeper: #33
Sleeper #2: #88 (with the way they've run, i consider them sleepers lol)
Ok, I watched the entire pre-race show. I learned zero new information.
ReplyDeleteDid Fox/Nascar go to Sarasota, Fl and hire the producers from the Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus? This reminds me of a wrestling broadcast from the 80's and 90's with Hulk Hogan and Andre The Giant. All fluff.
Why should the media be red-faced about Hamlin's start? Racing's as unpredictable a sport as there is and just because he's struggling now doesn't mean it'll be that way for the season.
ReplyDeleteDenny showed what he could do in spots last year against the 48, he's just gotta be consistent for an entire season, not just have a moment here and there. He'll be okay.
BTW- I think Kyle wins today
Beautiful flyover too.
ReplyDeletehey david!
ReplyDeletesoooo, it seems we're gonna play the "if we don't talk about it, it doesn't exist" game in re: hammond's eye. i'm thinking if you're on camera and something is that obvious, it might do well to say something, if only "yep, i have this eye 'thing' happening but i'm fine, thanks."
instead, we get to speculate. if it were me, i'd say something just to keep people's eyeballs off of it! doesn't have to be personal, just an acknowledgement: that'd be the professional thing to do.
Missed having ya around red!
ReplyDeleteI believe that is your boy on pole right?
Ready for Green Flag!
ReplyDeleteDamon, your post at 1:04 doesn't make sense. That's like saying, why would anyone watch NASCAR if Jimmie Johnson wasn't racing? You're either a fan of the sport or fan of the man.
ReplyDeleteDW doesn't know how to act like a good teammate. Like the Toby Keith song - I want to talk about ME!
ReplyDeleteChip Ganassi: "We came to race today"
ReplyDeleteJPM: "Don't we do that every week?"
Chip: "Yeah, but I don't feel we say that enough is all"
Plus we have an in car for Jr's car today - want to guess how much that will get overused?
ReplyDeleteAfter watching the pre-race, I feel an hour of my life was stolen from me.
ReplyDeleteJr will wreck early and there goes Fox's ratings........
ReplyDeleteI agree with annon. Someday when I die I am going to ask for a refund of all those hours of pre-race I want back...
ReplyDeleteMight give me another 10 years!
Hi all so glad I didn't have time for the whole pre race -
ReplyDeleteAre the crowds as thin as they look? Lots of empty seats
With some good cars starting near the back, I wonder when we'll hear "Where did the (fill in car # here) come from!" today? Like we would know, if they don't show/call it from the booth!
ReplyDeleteyikes, lots of empty seats in that short behind Bergerren
ReplyDeleteMy top stories for today's race:
ReplyDeleteCan Dale Jr capitalize on his pole qualifying effort?
Can Jimmie Johnson pick up his third win in a row?
Can Kevin Harvick come from deep in the field a continue his early season success?
What will be the odd ball moment of the race? (Pot Hole, Caution Light)
Will the term "Vortex Theory" be mentioned today?
~DCV
@david: life's been busy on race days but i'm hoping to get a full race in today!
ReplyDeleteand yes, that'd be the 88 team on the pole with THE fastest qualifying lap ever run in a COT! thanks for pointing that out, just in case anyone might have missed it!
race hard, be safe and have fun, guys!
S&P to watch since MV doesn't seem to be here:
ReplyDelete#55, #66, #87, #26
Kept saying they were expecting a big walk-up crowd. In other words, not a lot of tickets sold...
ReplyDeleteThanks David, new start and park rules this week huh?
ReplyDeletehahaha @ red. Missed having ya around!
ReplyDeleteHope you make it through!
Good luck to your boy, hope that 18 and 42 can make it happen today!
That's why race fans are so fickle. They complain about the boring races, yet Atlanta puts on good races constantly, and the poor track has to almost beg people to buy tickets. It's hard to understand sometimes.
ReplyDeleteNot aware of any new policy other than NASCAR impounding the first S&P out
ReplyDeleteStands look about half full.
ReplyDeleteOh come on, stay wide please!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Mike. If i lived closer I'd go to ATL all the time.
ReplyDeleteKyle!
Already with the in cars! ARRRRRGH!
ReplyDeleteAgain caught wreck at end. =(
ReplyDeletePoor Robby :( what a rough season already for him :(
ReplyDeleteRobby Gordon is an off road racer, so it stands to be true he wrecks first.
ReplyDeletestationary camera catches it better than all the humans trying to do the same job. How bout that?
ReplyDeleteDigger Count: 1
ReplyDeleteThe last of the true independents might not survive this season. Rats.
ReplyDeleteIn-cars on lap 3??? Is Artie oblivious to the fact that we can't see a damn thing from those shots?
ReplyDeleteIs there anything more useless than the in-car camera shot while it sits in the pit stall?
ReplyDeleteAnd using the 'digger' cam to show a wreck? Yeah, that works.
ReplyDeleteRobby said on the scanner that it was a right rear thst blew but his spotter called it correctly and told him it was the left rear tire.
ReplyDeleteIt just seems so hard for Artie Kempner not to play with the in-cars before the field gets sorted out. It's pretty fundamental.
ReplyDeleteWhere is Elmer Fudd, Shhh be vewwy vewwy qwiet, I'm hunting Diggers!
ReplyDeleteDW, how can Scott Speed have a resurgence? He never had a surge...
ReplyDeleteScott Speed is 35th in owner's points and could move up past Robby today Darrell???? Speed's like 15th or 16th this year, and last year's points are still used at Bristol next race, what is he talking about?
ReplyDeleteSTOP WITH THE IN CARS ALREADY!
ReplyDeletewhy, why, why all the in-car camera shots????
ReplyDeleteLooks like the in-track camera may get covered in tire marbles today.
ReplyDeleteSwing and a miss on that one DW...
ReplyDeleteJimmie J moving to the front is DW's Viagra....
ReplyDeleteok, i'm over the in-cars and i've already gone to the mute button.
ReplyDeletesigh.
With all the in car shots, I wonder what the wind is like there? maybe it's causing trouble with stability? Shooting in the dark, digging deep on that one.
ReplyDelete~DCV
is DW is now gonna spend the race gushing for Scott Speed - What is he mad at Kyle & Junebug?
ReplyDeleteJD - Way too early of a start time ...
ReplyDeleteJohnP - Please don't insult Ringling Bros ... I had family who worked for them ...
David - Kobalt commercial wasn't funny watching when you know that it was a sham ;-)
JD - Already with the excessive Jimmie coverage ... UGH!!!
Wait ... It's the HMS 500 ... Ugh!!
Be surprised how much email I got saying FOX is the new ESPN.
ReplyDeleteIn some ways, this season...they certainly are.
tia, your saying that really happened?
ReplyDeletewow. thats a trip. How close we were to having a new champ then....
Newman in the top 20 from the tail of the field. Nothing.
ReplyDeleteI think it's pretty evident that DW no longer does any homework before the races. Just shows up, jacks his jaws and collects the paycheck. Too comfortable with his position and doesn't have to work at it anymore.
ReplyDeleteDW and a Justin Timberlake reference.. what what!!
ReplyDeleteI think D.W. and the Fox truck who put Scott Speed on camera truly think today's finishes will push the 82 past the 7 for 35th place in the 2009 owner's standings. Wow, that was horrible!
ReplyDeleteEngine #9 has taken off!
ReplyDeleteJust my luck PRN this week on radio, TV volume way down on way to mute, And 1 car in box sigh long day ahead
ReplyDeleteI bet we come back to a caution.....
ReplyDeleteWHAT? No green flag commercial bumper of Kasey Kahne in boxing gloves punching the camera while a Fox oval is on fire in the background? Actual progress from Fox or did they just screw up and press the wrong button?
ReplyDeleteMark Martin starts 4th, now outside of top 30. Newman starts last, now in top 20.
ReplyDeleteMark Martins car needs lots of work according to radio, they need a caution. Harvick having wheel tire problems he warned crew it could be a long day...
ReplyDelete& foxespn says nothing on way to commercials...
Start & Parks. Remember, the first car to park that's not involved in a clear accident or failure gets the NASCAR Eye, and an engine tear down.
ReplyDeleteand now, prn on the laptop and race trax in another window.
ReplyDeleteif i could find someone who does video feed that isn't fox tv, i'd watch that on the laptop as well.
double sigh.
Ok, 52 inch tv just went OFF. Why am I surprised? Want to WATCH JR up front but can' see a &^%$! thing.
ReplyDeleteToo many in car cams RUINING THE FLOW/THE RACING. Why. Why. Why?
Listening to PRN instead.:-(
That's sad they RUIN racing on any tv let alone a giant one=equal waste of space.
Very depressing.
Choosing radio online LISTENING over TV viewing?
CRIMINAL what suits have done to the sport.
As i feared, Harvick has made no progress
ReplyDeleteThe Biff says he's starting to get loose, on the radio
ReplyDeleteD Ham flying
ReplyDeletereal tweet from NASCARONFOX
ReplyDeleteDW: The rivalry everyone wants is already happening. Jimmie vs. Jeff. Student vs teacher. & the teacher is getting aggravated w/student.
14 and 39 continue their march
ReplyDeleteSay good bye to two Atlanta races in 2011. Crowd is terrible (as in past years) and Kentucky is waiting. Bruton says he has already made a decision - it has to be this spring Atlanta race.
ReplyDeleteToo much IN-CAR! Not enough views of the track
ReplyDeleteDavid - No ... The car was never going to fall off the lift ... It was rigged to "drop" like it did ... IF it was falling, it would've gone front end first as opposed to straight down ... LOL ;-)
ReplyDeleteChad & Jimmie = newest recipients of the Razzies for "worst acting" ... LOL
Scott - Mark Wills is a country singer ... Unfortunately, does not get the airtime because of the overhyping of the American Idol hacks ;-)
DW really reaching
ReplyDeletep.s. that was my rant about turning off 52 inch tv. HOW DEPRESSING (trouble logging into blogger)
ReplyDelete:-( :-(
I miss MRN...sighing & OVER TV VIEWING of races. Will probably DELETE on DVR. so much for enjoying that new tv tool...:-(
Just "Listening" to the in car cam noise ruining the flow was enough to make me click OFF TV
TIRES are gonna be a huge issue today.
ReplyDeleteOne in car camera down.
ReplyDeleteSO far so good in my book looks like Fox was waiting till this race to get it right! Good camera work on top of everything so far! JD what do you think?
ReplyDeleteGreat call by DW
ReplyDeletePeople can smell a media fabrication. Jimmie vs Jeff is a made up fantasy.
ReplyDeleteBucky B said...
ReplyDeleteDamon, your post at 1:04 doesn't make sense. That's like saying, why would anyone watch NASCAR if Jimmie Johnson wasn't racing? You're either a fan of the sport or fan of the man
-----------------
Interesting point, but the difference is Tiger is the only golfer that makes that sport worth watching, Jimmie doesn't do that for Nascar.
Can you honestly say you'd enjoying watching Camillo Villegas today dueling against whoever he'll be contending against for the win rather than watching him try to do it against Tiger?
prn tells me there's lots of racing "maybe not in the front but they're 2 and 3 wide further bcak in the pack."
ReplyDeletesee, this is what ticks me off: people are led to believe the racing isn't any good because they don't get to see it or hear about it on tv. i firmly believe that leads to the soft attendance at the track. if you're only seeing the front 5 (at best), you can't know that there's really some strong racing happening.
there goes another tire.
i'm going to brunch with the family: they're surprised i'm giving up this race but fox hasn't made it compelling tv so far -- unless one likes in-car cameras. see ya' soon, planeteers.
tia thats what i thought. I just felt chad and jimmie's reactions were funny. I figured it had to be rigged since it would have killed that box lol
ReplyDeleteCan Fox please demote Artie to the ARCA Series like they did the equivalent of in football last year?
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 1:40,
ReplyDeleteDon't tires always come into play at Atlanta though?
OMG lots of empty seats on the frontstretch right in front of pit road. As bad as California
ReplyDeletered, the radio is telling a completely different story....
ReplyDelete@jonathan...you're kidding, right?
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteSomeone said Atlanta might lose a race due to the lack of attendance. But it looks like many tracks could lose a race if you go by that standard. I don't think the problem is as much the track itself but the product on the track.
ReplyDeleteRed I whole-heartedly agree with you about that perception TV gives. Then racing is better than TV or even some of the "media" wants you to believe. Hate your leaving, cya soon!
ReplyDeleteI think McDowell parked
ReplyDeleteThank you director for that ill-timed in-car. On a RESTART?!?
ReplyDeletenope. they were showing Abrose moving up. there the camera was right on top of that accident, last week it would have took 20 sec after the fact. I see improvments today but just my opinon
ReplyDeleteMissed a crash at the front of the pack immediately after a restart because we were watching another damn IN-CAR CAMERA!
ReplyDeleteTime to shuffle things up behind the scenes Hill. It's been LONG overdue.
Thanks Brad Wreckslosky!
ReplyDeleteOK, so are they truing to say that BK, with his left tire right on the yellow line, moved UP into Carl? That Carl didn't cut down on Brad? Hmmmm.
ReplyDeleteWhat did I say last week?
ReplyDeleteI stand behind it yet again. Restart camera angles with FOX = FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Several drivers complaining they spun their tires. 9, 42, etc.
I lived in Atlanta for 4 years and we went to races all the time. Since moving back to Jersey I've only been able to make a couple of races there. The weather in March can be iffy for this race, but if I lived closer I'd go to every race here.
ReplyDeleteI've got the radio broadcast on now - can't stand to listen to the Fox guys any more.
Yes Damon, I will say that. I'm a fan of the sport. And unlike in NASCAR where Jimmie does show up each week, Tiger only plays the mandated minimum of tournaments. When he's not there, which is most of the time, it makes the broadcast so much better because we get to hear about all the players, not just one guy. It's the same issue we are facing in this sport. If your'e not in the 48 car or in a Hendrick car, you better do something spectacular for TV to comment on it.
ReplyDeleteYes, Sally, Carl cut down on BK.
ReplyDeleteCan we go 5 laps without an in-car, bumper cam or digger hole?
ReplyDeleteThis is the kind of shots we need-from above!!
ReplyDeleteStewart started in the back. Currently in 7th.
ReplyDeleteHow? The announcers have yet to say anything about it!
Credit Carl for manning up there because you can tell it killed him to do that.
ReplyDeleteMakes a good case either way though.
Blaney, behind the wall
ReplyDeletebusch no. its been like that for years you know that. we need some positive comments lol so much negativity here man
ReplyDeleteNo interview with David or Robby but Fox is right there with Carl. Sure would be nice to hear from more than just Fox's annointed superstars when they fall out!
ReplyDeleteDitto PammH!! Ditto..
ReplyDeleteAngles from above so we can see the race..
Good for Carl admitting it wasn't 'malicious'. If anyone should know BK doesn't cut any slack, it certainly should be Carl!!
ReplyDeleteFrom Twitter:
ReplyDelete@Mc_Driver is 12+ laps down, could be 1st Start & Park of the day. #nascar #TheSpeedzine
So Cuz Carl kinda admits it was a racin' deal & the booth disagrees w/him?????? wth?
ReplyDelete@jonathan...when the coverage is good, we are more than happy to acknowledge it. So far, there hasn't been much to compliment.
ReplyDeleteDW needs to get his head on straight - not sure how much more of this I will watch even with the mute button depressed.
ReplyDeleteDH up to 7. Think they'll mention him if he gets up to 3, 2, 1?
ReplyDeleteRhere's your boxing glovs!
ReplyDeleteJonathan, where are you when ESPN does NW races this year? We have all been surprisingly nice for those races!
ReplyDeleteKaren
ReplyDeleteOne could only hope.
Anyone think the #55 & #66 come back out to avoid tear down inspection?
ReplyDeleteThere's the contradiction of announcers. The California Nationwide race, Logano came down on Biffle and they said Biffle didn't do anything wrong. This time around Edwards comes down on Keselowski, but they want to put the blame on Keselowski.
ReplyDeleteYeah why show us cars racing under green when you can play dress up with the drivers and have them hawk your own network right? The ego of the Fox production truck makes me sick!!!!
ReplyDeleteI just watched the tv ( important phone call) with the sound off & radio muted & honestly I have no idea what is going on - who is where or even what racetrack it is.
ReplyDeleteWide shots please - the tv pictures are supposed to show a race unfolding. Not the in bumper rodent car cam. We know the truck has toys. Now will you show us the race please? Thank you
ive been there but for the sprint cup series the last positive day I can think of is last year TNT broadcasts. I dont know you guys say the same thing every week. we get it trust me the nationwide races have in car shots every 2 mins as well. Races are in HD look beautiful and thats what there going for everyone does it. I just feel this race has been ok. not great but seriously every Sunday its the same thing.
ReplyDeleteHighest place Underdog team after 20 laps is the 71-@Bobby_Labonte in 20th place #nascar #TheSpeedzine
ReplyDeleteI think its funny how FOX promotes the INSIDE NASCAR show during the race but they NEVER promoted This Week In Nascar.
ReplyDeleteBuschseries61 I think one of the Prism Motorsports teams will be torn down.
ReplyDelete87-Nemecheck OUT now. (From FOX Sports)
there a pass for 14th and 15th and showing it for a while. for those of who said they only show the top 5 there u go! much better than last week
ReplyDeleteJonathan, you might need to take a little break my friend.
ReplyDelete87 behind the wall
ReplyDeleteAny mention of our points leader, Harvick?
ReplyDeleteoh and may I add WIDE shots for over 2min !!!
ReplyDeleteMichael Waltrip will drive for Prism Motorsports @ Talladega.. He announced that during the truck race.
ReplyDelete
