ESPN Classic Offers "VCR Theater"

Get your sophisticated video recording devices all charged up. The folks at ESPN Classic are slipping some NASCAR product into their line-up that normally features the original American Gladiators and endless World Series of Poker episodes.

The 1999 California 500 from Fontana airs on Thursday, February 21st at 2PM Eastern Time. Next-up is the 1994 Food City 500 from the wonderful Bristol Motor Speedway. That show is airing Friday, the 22nd at 3AM Eastern Time.

We can only encourage this network to come over to NASCAR, and continue to insert more weekday programming that fans can watch and record. Thanks ESPN Classic.

Thanks for the heads up J.D.. I find that the ESPN schedule in my on-screen guide is rarely accurate. So I probably would have missed this.

I used to watch ESPN Classic for the Nascar races on a regular basis! That was probably the best thing on the station! They lost a lot when they stopped showing them.

And a couple of years ago I believe they had "Busch Series Revisited" the race was the previous year's race that was coming up at that track and it was very enjoyable. I wish they would add that to their lineup. Or maybe I was the only one who watched it . . . . . .

Is the 94 Bristol race the one Dale Earnhardt senior bumped Terry Labonte out of the way for the win?

I just wish ESPN Classic would show something other than the rotation of the same 15-20 races I think they have... I think I've seen these races on like 5 times in the last couple years, at least. The Daytona thing over the last couple months was nice, but I'd like to see them get some other races in the rotation that they haven't replayed to death.

I REALLY wish I got that channel. I love seeing the old races.

I don't know if they're still showing any of the old races on Classic, Stephen. That's part of what we were "saying", so to speak. They used to have them regularly, but I haven't been able to see the channel since I don't have the digital channel packages nowdays and don't know if they've totally discontinued them, or just cut them back to the rare, occasional showing.

Thought it very interesting towards the end of this race when they mentioned Mark Martin in the Busch race the day before came into the pits under a caution flag thinking he had just run the last lap and won the race only to find out he pitted one lap too soon and lost.

I miss when ESPN hyped the upcoming race by playing old races from the upcoming track every day during the week.

For instance... this week they would be playing old Cali races M-TH
