Sunday Pre-Race TV Programming

Nicole Manske starts the NASCAR TV day when she hosts the 10AM ET one hour version of NASCAR Now on ESPN2. Ryan Burr and Marty Smith are on-site in Martinsville to report for the program.

Next up is NASCAR RaceDay on SPEED. John Roberts hosts this two hour live show with Jimmy Spencer and Kenny Wallace as his panelists. Wendy Venturini and Hermie Sadler are the reporters. Venturini's Real Deal this week is a conversation with Rick Hendrick.

Live guests on the program include Jeff Burton, Denny Hamlin, Kasey Kahne and Jamie McMurray. Features will include a look back at Burton's 1997 win at Martinsville and a profile of the pit crew coach at RCR who has made a big difference in the performance of all three RCR teams.

These two programs often cover the same content in very different ways. ESPN continues the very formal approach to TV while SPEED has casual attire and fun mixed together on a regular basis. Since it was the Trucks at Martinsville on Saturday, expect these shows to be all about The Chase all day long.

This post will serve to host your comments about NASCAR Now and Raceday. There will be a new post up at Noon for NASCAR Countdown and the Sprint Cup Series race.

Remember, NASCAR.com's RaceView is free today and you can access it at 1PM by following (click here) this link. This is the online live race video and you can choose from several audio sources including the team radios.

NN is spending way too much time showing video clips from last weeks race and not enough time talking about todays race. I miss Ricky Craven but thank goodness Marty is there or I'd be turning it off not just FF through the clips.

Nice to see them mention the economy too. I'm also very curious to hear what's going on with the truck series next year no one is talking about it. I also miss Ricky Craven today too.

"A bunch of crap" said Spencer about the fact that NASCAR just caves into rain on Friday and does not try to re-qualify no Saturday.

Jimmy Spencer is mad at NA$CAR about quals being canceled all the time because of the top 35 & not waiting to reschedule the next day, & The Bud shootout or whatever its called. Thinks NA$CAR should listen to the fans.... Makes a nice sound bite
Yet TPTB haven't listened yet why now?

Jimmy had a point smaller teams spend $$$ to come to a race, just to be sent home. Oops the ugly truth has been spoken.

You know it's the end of the year when Spencer is going off like that. I don't think it's over yet.

Although I like Hermie very much and enjoy his interviews I miss having the camera on Wendy the entire time as she moves frantically (but well in control) down the grid because she would comment about things along the way it was always interesting and informative and you got a real feel for pit road or driver intros since I'll never get that close.
