Live Blogging The Camping World Truck Series From Iowa
The very familiar SPEED TV team has a new addition this week. Johnny Benson joins the group as the third man in the booth as Michael Waltrip is attending to Sprint Cup duties in Atlanta.
Krista Voda starts things off with The Setup. Then, Rick Allen comes along with Phil Parsons and Benson.
Iowa is a good location for a featured night time race. It should be interesting to see how the crowd is at the speedway on a college football Saturday.
SPEED has a comfortable and easy presentation of this series. We are asking for your comments as the telecast unfolds. To add your TV-related comments, just click on the comments button below.
This is a family-friendly website, please keep that in mind when posting. Thanks for taking the time to stop by.

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 236 of 236this is how a race broadcast should feel and sound and look. it's really so simple: show us the race!
Patrick, as a bachelor I ate out continually. Houston is a great town for that.
so, after the n'wide coverage today, is it the recommendation that i TRY to watch a cup race on espn once again?!?
bevo,
my only problem with the F1 broadcasts is the top graphic is cut off. Whether its how many laps have been run or who's in 1st. But I usually have the official timing going from the internet, so I'm not without the info.
Debris? real or imagined??

i have old fashioned 4.3 tv but in some of the track pics seem grainy or out of focus or like the fence is doing funky things to the camera?
Kind of like when guys used to wear a hounds tooth suit on tv :)
brad: i'm thinking trucks don't use the phantom debris to tighten the field. course, i could be wrong.
@JD- they're now FSN Houston. FSN Southwest is up here in the Dallas area and before they ran all of the Dallas-Houston stuff here. Now they have a separate operation down there.
Have we seen any debris tonight?
Did I blink really long or did they not show the "debris" on the front stretch?
@ dot: first time, i believe, for just debris.
@ red, thanks. I'm not always watching.
bevo,
I ran the big enchilada. The RSN's took our national sports.
Remember the RSPN down there used to be called HSE?
My friend Jeff Hallas runs the new FSN Houston. Hope he is doing well.
well, we just saw the clean-up truck by the flag stand but didn't see what they came out to pick up.
@Sophia- Yep, same thing here. Other camera shots are clear as a bell.
When Tivo comes out with an HD unit for satellite I'll upgrade from DirecTV SD.
JD...you used to work @ HSE huh.....kool
Hey, thanks for hanging in today folks.
We are going to live blog the Cup race tomorrow and then see how it goes.
For those of you heading out, thanks again.
And the principal has enough gas to get the win
Congratulations Principal Skinner :)
JB is such a voice of calm and reason.
AND we get to see the ENTIRE field come to the finish line.
great work once again by the speed truck gang! welcome back to our favorite broadcast team!
nice finish..wish they could've left the drop down graphic longer though.
if only BSPN would be like this tomorrow.
I see they showed the entire field crossing the finish line....that's how it should be done!
@JD- I remember HSE fondly. Thought it was the greatest thing in the world that I could watch all of the Rangers home games. Merle Harmon and Norm Hitzges calling the action for some really bad baseball :)
wide shot finish and drop down graphic as they cross the finish line. It really can be done.
You can't really beat that for a race broadcast.
How many times have I said that for the trucks?
Have SD to and same here with some shots being grainy, it is like if you move the rabbit ears it will come in clear. Just as touch off.

we can only hope ...just some thoughts from a 50+ year NASCAR fan ...remembering when night races were 50% of the schedule ...history has shown ESPN can do things right and that often change for the sake of change is not always for the best ...will Skinner pull out the six-shooters tonight?
If they were to show the NW guys crossing the line tonight, we'd still be watching.
Great race and coverage. JB was great. Hope he comes back.
Nice job speed.
mike davis tweets that bama won, 34-24. talledega infield should be hilarious! i certainly hope there'll be film!
night, all! trucks have fulfilled my need for racing this weekend and i'm so optimistic, i may even watch the cup race tomorrow!
Bevo
I am watching on a 7 yr old 31 inch GE tv, and sometimes different stations have quirky focus.
I think it's all the new technology..however instead of things looking this way or that way on SD or HD...it seems picture quality varies...much like mileage :)
But this truck fence was annoying...odd you and I were the only ones that noticed it...I still thing it's something with the fence but I could be wrong. Looks like the wires are closer together (to catch debris better?)
oh those flashing lights in background on SPEED..can't look! vertigo. .
oh Congratulations to Skinner!
@Patrick- I know, DirecTV keeps trying to give me one. I have a long-term love affair with my Series 2 Tivo and only want a real Tivo :)
Yes it's weird but I'm a loyal Tivoer
I thought about that after posting. I have a friend with DirecTV who made the HD upgrade. I'll see what he did. I have your email if I find anything useful (keeping Tivo in mind).
Long day folks, have a great night. The Nationwide Series "Your Turn" post is up for the ESPN show.
No need to do that for Trucks....nothing to say!
See you Sunday!
JD
Night JD! Thanks again for hosting.
Everyone get your naps in another long night :)
