I will tape JF tonite (Thurs morn), but passing on pie fight. I know I'll be able to see it elsewhere. Is there a set time for NN tomorrow?

I think you're forgetting Letterman. Unless something has changed, don't the drivers always do a Top 10 list on the Late Show when in NY?

Debby said...

Thanks for the info!!

@anon 7:53 I read that Letterman is in reruns this week.

Pammmmmmmm,

We just confirmed that the show will air at 5PM ET for 90 minutes and then re-air at 10PM Pacific/1AM Eastern. Jeff Burton is Mike Massaro's c-host.

There is no Letterman this time, the stage is dark and the show is on hiatus. The Kimmel appearance on Wednesday is the only time the drivers will be doing late night stuff until the end of the season.

Look for the Chase winner to make the rounds when it is all over.

Except for the local call-in to the Orlando stations, I'll pass. Just more chase over-hype.

JD and PammH, I'm sure JD meant to say Jimmy Fallon and not Jimmy Kimmel.

ROTFL --- Karen, I think JD had a "senior moment."

I think I'll pass on the custard pie fight. Blecch.

trl, I don't know if you've watched the pie fight in the past, but it's funny as heck. No holds barred. You may want to check it out.

Dot said...

I'm recording the pie fight only. Thanks for the tip, Karen.

No time to record and watch more. I'm finally working full time!

No taoday show?

Again, why New York? Is it because they could care less about NASCAR? Is it because they are the most indifferent people? They change the Championship Banquet because of the lack of interest, and yet the first place they go is the place that hates them the most. Is Brian France a glutton for punishment? Why would I go to a party where I just got my A** kicked, and ask to come back inside?

Unfortubately most media with live national feed originate in NYC. Besides, it was Fashion Week. Maybe next year, when the fancy NASCAR studios are finished, live media Chase feed will be able to originate from there.
Missing the Letterman Top 10.
I thought Kurt did a good job on NN, he was thorough, concise and articulate, and even managed a flash of Busch fire when talking to Brad. Like Jimmy Spencer, hard to believe Kurt's the same guy that I spent a few years despising.

Just a heads up, my TV guide for DVR is showing NN to begin at 5:30ET, I had to manually set the 5pm program to record to capture all 90 min. of NN.

The pie fight has always been good and I think Kelly & Matt Kenseth have some sort of record for it too. Lots and lots going on this week in the big apple but it's the same old same old.

Newracefan said...

Pie fight didn't work out well. Someone jumped the gun and all we got were wide shots. Too bad it was the only thing I caught. Am not home so wasn't able to set the DVR after the announcements of where and when

Daly Planet Editor said...

Just to reconfirm, NASCAR Now on ESPN2 will be from 5PM to 6:30PM.

This change was made too late for the cable schedules and lots of channel guides.

You may have to manually program your DVR for that time period.

Thanks,

JD

I just set the DVR to record NN. My guide showed it as 90 minutes. My guess is that it will be on time as there are no live games beforehand. For once.

Daly Planet Editor said...

Well, from uninformed questions to bad stunts, that was an interesting morning.

At least it got some faces out there, but the NFL sure has the stories going right now.

It should be fun to watch Massaro and Burton on NN at 5PM. Jeff has a future in TV, so this will be a good exercise for him.

Good Morning JD,
ref: your comment September 17, 2009 12:20 PM . I agree. I am so disappointed in the coverage this morning.

I thought it was an embarrassment to the sport i love. yes, it did get some faces out there. But at what price?

and the pie throwing on regis and kelly, please, give me a break on that. It was so lame. I was so let down by that. As I said elsewhere, what a waste of nascar pr.

Brian France, I am really trying to stay a loyal fan of this sport for the last 30 yrs. I even built a new home in Dover,DE But you are not helping.....The Daly Planet has for the last 3yrs w/our comments, oh never mind you are not listening anyway.

Now if I could only receive $5.00 for each time MM says how much he loves his car, Alan G, HMS, his teammates, his pit crew. and racing, I could take a trip to NY too.

Carl Edwards, Kasey Kahne and Ryan Newman were on with Jimmy Fallon for a short bit with a goofy device they called the "shock-a-tron," and they all took turns playing it up to the hilt.
It was a little goofy - then again, so is Jimmy Fallon - but the bit was FUNNY!

Tracy said...

The Regis and Kelly pie fight is a good example of why ESPN doesn't rank Nascar up there with other sports. Can you see the Williams sisters doing that? Tiger Woods?

Just humiliating, tho the guys were good sports and did their best to act as if they wanted to be there.

Sophia said...

I thought the Fallon show bit seemed very disorganized and Kasey did not seem amused to get the first shock. I guess it was funny but not that much. Waste of time.

Saw video of the pie fight which I found totally LAME.

NASCAR deserves better than this, good grief. This pie fight was more suitable for a Girl Scout troop rather than race car drivers.

Not only was the pie fight lame (except for the one civilian who clobbered one of the drivers), no one wished Jimmie Johnson a happy birthday. They could have saved one pie for him and put a candle in it. Regis should know by now there are 10 races in the Chase. At least Kelly knew that JP had driven in F1 (too bad she didn't know he did CART as well).

Karen said...

Pie fight this year was disappointing. The only good thing about the whole segment with the guys was the clip they showed of last year with the guys throwing cream pies at Regis & Kelly. Jimmy Fallon show was pretty cute. Ryan Newman was the funniest.

What the heck was the point of Good Morning America? They were on for what, 40 seconds? This whole NYC tour is totally stupid and a waste of time. Regis makes them look stupid, they're an afterthought on GMA, and the Fallon show is always silly. Why does Nascar waste their time? NYC residents don't care about Nascar, and actually get pretty hacked off if anything disrupts their day. Most fans are at work and they don't care about pie throwing. What are they going to throw in Las Vegas when they get there? Cactus?

Anon 9:20PM,

Come on, easy on the language. Just change a couple of words and feel free to repost.

Perhaps, you could tell us if you watched any of the live TV from NYC on Thursday this time as well.

Thanks.

Anon

the pie thing might've worked with better camera work & some conversation with said NASCAR drivers. I just saw the clip.

Somebody said on Twitter they thought the pie throwing looked redneck....I said it could've been worse...

they could've used cow pies :-)
