Live Blogging The Camping World Trucks From Texas (8:30PM - SPEED)

A long day of NASCAR TV on SPEED will cap with the Camping World Truck Series race. Krista Voda starts the pre-race show at 8:30PM with The Setup. Ray Dunlap and Adam Alexander are the pit reporters.

At 9PM, it will be Rick Allen, Phil Parsons and Michael Waltrip calling the action. This should be a dynamic event for the series. The field is a good mix of veterans, Cup driver cross-overs and some of the young guns.

SPEED's telecast may go a long way toward answering some of the issues raised when ESPN and NASCAR had problems this last week after Talladega. The truck series TV team covered the Saturday race from the very same track and had an outstanding telecast.

The coverage tonight should be straightforward, simple and effective. The high speeds and fast action of TMS mandate no excessive in-car cameras, no soundbite playback under green flag racing and quick transition into and out of commercial.

SPEED uses the racing TV fundamentals to put a comfortable telecast on the air. Voda sets the tone in the pre-race and Allen carries it through the on-track action.

This post will serve to host your comments on the Camping World Truck Series race from TMS on SPEED. To add your TV-related comment, just click on the comments button below. This is a family-friendly website, please keep that in mind when posting.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by The Daly Planet and contribute your opinion.

Dang it. Congrats David.

JD - We need a live leaderboard for the Trucks ... for practice / qualifying / race ... on nascar.com

Chris from NY said...

Busch wastes his time and his money (does he really need that much?) doing this.

Sally said...

You know, I have a problem with someone who has to give himself his own nickname.

Vicky D said...

JD, we enjoyed JPM on Trackside too. He made the show for me.

The Loose Wheel said...

Chris, Kyle races for free in Trucks. Its actually the only way Billy Belew has been able to make any money the past few years and from what I've heard they are still just breaking even.

Dot said...

@ Chris NY, Weed doesn't get paid. The one thing nice I can say about him.

Daly Planet Editor said...

Well, that was fun even though Kyle did it again. They sure did race for it though.

See everyone here tomorrow for the N'wide race. Marty Reid with DJ and Andy...no JP!

Thanks for hanging with us, make sure you sign up for Twitter please!

@ Chris from NY

Shrubby doesn't take any money for driving in the truck races.

Sally

BINGO on the self given nikname.

JPM was fun on Trackside if you all missed it earlier. He's on during the first half hour and more than one segment :)

Rick and his fellow announcers made it interesting to watch the last couple of laps. Good race and good broadcast

Dot said...

Great race and coverage in spite of who won. Love the truck series on SPEED.

kbaskins said...

@ Sally

I agree totally! I refuse to call Shrubby the R-word, knowing that he gave it to himself.

--KarenB

The Loose Wheel said...

I still call him Shrub, pretty sure he didn't dub himself that...

Chris from NY said...

Did he really say he wished the 88 would have won!?

kbaskins said...

@ David

He gave himself the nickname R...Ro...Row...

Dang, I can't even type it.

--KarenB

The Loose Wheel said...

Chris, yup

The Loose Wheel said...

I know Karen. I still like Shrub. It just stuck from day 1 lol

I like Digger ...

Digger's tons better than the Bobbsey twins & Brad the cliche guy ...

Chris from NY said...

6b ... long name which is untypable...

Never thought I'd hear that out of someone here.

Charlie said...

Nice job all you folks at Speed.

Chris from NY said...

6p, sorry.

The Loose Wheel said...

Tia, you gotta make a new name eventually lol.

Great job SPEED! Pre-race to checkered flag has been great!

Daly Planet Editor said...

That's the legendary Seattle Six! Just messed up the name again....I think ya like it now!

kbaskins said...

Well, that was well done, SPEED. Good job, as always. I'll give a good grade if I get a Fan Council survey this week. :-)

Hopefully I'll get my lazy butt out of bed in time to watch the Nationwide race tomorrow.

Really fun day capped off by a great race and a Shrowdy win. Works for me! Best day of racing we will have. Thanks SPEED and the 'Allen Parsons' project. I think that makes Mikey the 'Project' kind of aprapo actually.

Anonymous said...

David, et al - I've tried to fix the name thing ... But, it's something screwy with OpenID and TypePad ...

Like I said ... Just call me "Six" ... ;-)

Dot said...

Ron sounded like he doesn't like Weed stinking up his series.

Dot said...

@ ri88, I like that, Shrowdy.

Sophia said...

JD

Seattle Six ?? Color me clueless.

The Loose Wheel said...

Good to see Eddie Gossage healthy

kbaskins said...

@ Dot

As far as I can tell, Ron doesn't like much. He's even crankier than I am.

Ron dosen't like KB stinking up his bumper. Next year, payback could be a b*tch!

Anonymous said...

Sophia - YOU know me from the Speedtv.com boards ... back when "NASCAR Nation" was on ...

Other people know me from ... well, other things / places ... LOL

Daly Planet Editor said...

Sophia...don't tempt me!

Eddie certainly does not look the same, glad to see him there.

No info to report publicly on Jim Hunter, not around for a while now.

The Loose Wheel said...

Guys, think I'm gonna go to the truck race next week since they will be in town. Probably wont make the Cup or NW shows though

Chris from NY said...

WTCrap, Speed?

I just talked about the other networks showing junky Progressive commercials, why am I hearing two on Speed of all channels!?

Anonymous said...

Chris--Most if not all of the guys do it pro bono. And when Kylie won last week he mentioned he'd request his share of the money go to Aric but he doesn't get paid so he personally had nothing to share but hoped Mr. Ballew hooked him up :).

In situations like this their goal is to win over sponsors so the money will keep coming in.

When Bradshaw was still in Busch/N'wide he was interviewed on a pre-race show. He had said he HATED the Buschwackers and before they could follow up about Sterling he said that they had to have a Cup driver in the car because that's what they required.

They've all said that Sterling was never paid for his service he did it because he's a good man :).

Anonymous said...

Dot - Ya think?? Grampa's trying to win the driver's AND owner's championship for Happy & Dee ... and LO ...

The Loose Wheel said...

Gymmie, then Fitz got put in court this year since I believe he OWED Sterling some money as well as others. The county seized various Fitz Motorsports assets...

Yeahhhh, don't get me started on that joke of a team....

Anonymous said...

KarenB - Ron's a good guy ... A lot of it is just for the "show" ... I've been watching him race since 1979 when he started at Saugus against his dad ...

Dot said...

Props to SPEED for showing a looooong post race. Too bad we don't get this from you know who. Just have to get to the local news or infomercials.

I think I'm gonna go watch figure skating ...

Our friend's granddaughter is currently sitting atop the leaderboard at the NHK Trophy in Nagano

Daly Planet Editor said...

OK, see everyone tomorrow! Thanks again.

The Loose Wheel said...

Look, David Starr! lol who called it?

clarif on my last post they = sponsor

SIX...SPEEDTV forums! Wow I haven't been there in ages!! That place is a trainwreck to navigate in recent years.

Also Used to be fun place when they had good moderators...one who is no longer with us :-(..she was a kick!

Fun seeing the guy rake and the earlier guy spray paint the walls for touch up. I LOVE behind the scenes stuff. :)

LOVE the long post race.

Thank you SPEED TEAM!!

Love you guys in the booth and all day in front of and BEHIND the tv screen.

Remember when Chad was in that movie 3... :)

Anonymous said...

@David--yes that Fitz thing has turned into a HUGE mess!

Sophia said...

I just thanked all the guys and now Rick is mentioning the long day..so true.

I love this extra time!

The Loose Wheel said...

Yup Gymmie, he is part of that #07 team in NW now too.

I really, really, REALLY do not care for the guy or his business practices. But like Chris and his feelings on Digger, insert that team there. Bristol this year didn't help either.

WHOOO!!! PHOENIX!!!!

Chris from NY said...

Out.

Get ready for another borefest tomorrow.

Donna DeBoer said...

Looking at the DVR replay this morn, another good race and mostly great coverage by Speed. Kyle is amazing.
The only think I'm a bit unhappy about, is that there seemed to be an awful lot of commercials during last 50 laps? or am I seeing things? my taping is missing some 15-20 laps worth of green flag running... surprisingly few cautions.
Truck Series = Best racing & TV coverage in NASCAR right now.

Cooter said...

Trucks were great, as usual.
Here in Mediacom territory, ESPN2 has presented a scrambled screen, frozen in time since the Mike and Mike Show Thursday morning.
If this isn't fixed I won't be seeing the Nationwide Race today.
Oh, well, it's a Jerry Punch snoozer anyway!

Daly Planet Editor said...

Thanks for all the great comments, live coverage of practice and then the Nationwide Series race today on TDP.
