Live Blogging JR Motorsports Press Conference (11AM - SPEED)

We are watching a live press conference Thursday morning on SPEED. Originating from the JR Motorsports shops in the Concord, NC area, SPEED's Bob Dillner will host the festivities.

Dale Earnhardt Jr., his sister Kelley, Tony Eury Jr., Kelly Bires and Tony Eury Sr. are going to be present. Also featured will be a new driver for JRM named Danica Patrick.

The only thing fans have not been told is what races Patrick will be running in 2010. Her stock car package includes ARCA and the Nationwide Series. Speculation is that Patrick will run the Daytona ARCA race, but the jury is still out on whether or not she will join the Nationwide action.

This media event will also be streamed online at speedtv.com and godaddy.com/danica simultaneously.

This post will serve to host your comments on this press conference. To add your TV-related comments, just click the comments button below. This is a family-friendly website, please keep that in mind when posting.

Thank you as always for stopping by The Daly Planet.

More chairs than people.

You can tell by the comments that the Planeteers really care about this press conference.

Come on, Danica --- admit it. The real reason you want to do NASCAR is money!

I only take shelter in what I said when this got leaked. There was NO chance she would be at Daytona without approval. To anyone that felt she would get a free pass, I go "pffffftttt" to you.

@ David, wouldn't the ARCA race qualify her to run NW @ Daytona?

The Loose Wheel said...

It could Dot, but its not a given. They still have to green light you. Just running isn't an automatic given to race NW or Cup.

My opinion, Cali is a better place to debut anyways. Gonna sell a few more tix im sure.

So, Danica runs ARCA at Daytona and runs N'wide the week after in Fontanta.

Other than that, zzzzz.....

@ David, I guess they wanted to wait until CA for her to make her debut. Didn't want to wear out Danicamania at Daytona.

Ticket sales at CA will be telling.

David, California would be much better maybe they would have a lot more fans attending the NW race there for her. Wouldn't Danica have to qualify and make the ARCA race also? The Press Conference was just about unwatchable for me (online) it kept stopping and starting so I gave up after about 5 minutes. I'll just have to read what the others say about it who actually watched it

@ VickyD, you're not missing much. Even Twitter is pretty quiet.

yawn, where's my coffee ??

yes twitter has been quiet! I thought TweetDeck was broken never had over 10 minutes between tweets before!

Interesting to have fan input this is the first I think short of reporters fielding questions.

It'll be interesting to see how fans react and how hypica goes with the tracks.

Folks here in Ohio having problems with Twitter updating in chunks of time. odd.

I forgot about the SPEED deal & hope to remember Robin Miller on tomorrow.

Been watching conference from Cincinnati on death of Chris Henry. sad day here for Bengal fans...allegedly this troubled guy HAD been turning his life around for the past year and grateful for second chance...kinda puts the DP thing into perspective..watching Mike Brown & Marvin Lewis speak? Or watch a female driver overly promote her brand.

So I can't tell if the Danica Press conference was a bust or what (Yikes! bad choice of words considering GoDaddy commercials)

Did Jr speak much there and did he say much? Was he asked if this would distract his CUP season, as a fan of Jr's, I'd like less distractions and less media focus of how he's doing...

I did see a picture of Jr smiling at the Press conference on Twitter which brought me HERE. :-)

Will catch up later..off to read Twitter to get updated, informed & entertained on all things local & National.

Will check back later for the details of this conference.

Me, I am waiting to see how Robin Miller handles this tomorrow.

Danica doesn't need the press, the press needs Danica.

Not sure what the expectations were. Looks like the standard press conference when a new driver, deemed important :-), comes to NASCAR. Don't recall the Montoya one be any different, but its been awhile.

I liked hearing from Tony Jr and Kelly E.

Anyway off to SF for an overnight stay and dinner with friends. Will catch up with "y'all" when I return.

She may have a Bobby Gerhart car for Daytona in the ARCA race. Making that though with Cup equipment shouldn't be too much for her even given the limited experience.

I saw 10 seconds of the PC...tuned right out and back to Sportcenter. Feeling bad for the Bengals players losing a teammate like this

Listened to a lot of stuff on Sirius. Ho Hum !! But it was nothing short of a love fest between Jr and Danica with a little Kelley gushing thrown in for good luck. Claire B Lang was interviewing everyone and anyone for the show, including the guy who made her seat. Man, you'd think Danica is the reincarnation of Mother Theresa, or the very least a top notch Girl Scout, with all the glowing comments. "She's wonderful, great to work with, kind and courteous, funny, brings out the best in Jr (that one had me scratching my head), plus tons more.

Not surprised she's not debuting at Daytona. That track and the other drivers would eat her alive. Fontana is a bit more tame for a Nationwide debut.

I did not get a chance to watch news conference. Did they have a significant number of media reps.?

I can't recall who, but I heard someone on PRN or MRN this week say that Daytona is so much different than other tracks that Danica's running the N-wide race there would not really help her much at all with later tracks.

Yes, the Chris Henry tragedy does put things into perspective. I take it he left 3 children and it does sound like he had been turning things around. A shame.

Don't forget...Las Vegas has been announced for Danica in her schedule. Confirmed and done.
