Live Blogging Sprint Cup Series from PIR (7PM - FOX)

The Major League Baseball season is upon us. While NASCAR is scheduled to start at 7PM, there are regional MLB games on FOX scheduled from 3 to 6PM. We will have to keep an eye on those games today.

Chris Myers is up first from the Hollywood Hotel. As we have previously mentioned, Myers is struggling to manage Darrell Waltrip this season. Jeff Hammond has been trying to help, but Waltrip continues to be all over the map.

Myers also seems to be embarrassed by the "Slice of Pizzi" segment he is forced to run as FOX promotes the "Cubed" online series. This has been a flop since the beginning and continues to take time away from information on the pre-race stories.

The green flag flies at 7:44PM, so this will be a thirty-minute version of the pre-race show. That should put a premium on the amount of junk that FOX can add to the NASCAR news and interviews. Lately, the junk factor has been high.

FOX has the best NASCAR pit reporters in the business, yet continues to leave them out in the cold. During both the pre-race and the race, Waltrip is the star of the show. Unfortunately, this does not allow the amount of information on stories of the day/race to be relayed to viewers. Today, there are lots of stories to report.

Last we saw Mike Joy, he looked and sounded tired. Who wouldn't be with the continual chattering of Waltrip and Larry McReynolds going on all race long? This season has been the absolute worst in terms of Waltrip and McReynolds talking over top of Joy while he is doing his job.

FOX needs to have a focused and exciting telecast as they gear-up to run out the network's string of Sprint Cup Series races. While Daytona was a disaster, PIR has the potential to be fantastic. From the Denny Hamlin injury to the continued feuding on the track, it should be an interesting night.

The challenge for the Director is to stay ahead of the action. We like to refer to it as "showing headlights and not taillights." Cars racing toward the camera and constantly coming forward make for a very different telecast that one camera following the same cars around the entire track. On Friday night, ESPN learned that the hard way.

This post will serve to host your comments on the NASCAR on FOX coverage of the Sprint Cup Series race from PIR. To add your TV-related comment, just click on the comments button below. This is a family-friendly website, please keep that in mind when posting. Thanks as always for taking the time to stop by!

I'm taping because I'm out soon, but the wide shots & abrupt in-car shots have really made me sick to my stomach. Mike sounds a little better tontie. Much more updates on what's happening on Twitter..:(
Guess I will see who wins Sunday. Nite, all. ~wave~

uh oh, Red, don't like the sound of knee pain! Fox is giving me serious pain with this kind of coverage.

I would like to see Hamlin be smart and get out of the car. He's got the points for starting, so it make sense, to me. But then again, I would hate it if it were me.

Martin Vincent said...

@Andrew - Hamlin is no Earnhardt, and Earnhardt's injury wasn't to a joint that gets used constantly through the race. Hamlin could slow his recovery time or injure himself some more if he doesn't get out soon.

Also, Earnhardt had enough sense to get out of the car at Indy the next week, even though he didn't want to.

Isn't Hammond just profound with
his pit box presentation. What a
dumb-down to real race fans.

red said...

david: i can testify from personal (painful) experience that even when my knee was just riding, it hurt a ton. there's just no way to get that knee even remotely comfortable inside that car. he can't stretch it straight out, he can't bend it tight, he can't shift in the seat to alleviate the pressure.

and the longer he sits in there, the worse it gets.

i don't think the right foot breaking is as much of an issue as the internal battle he's waging with the pain. it's beyond being a distraction: it sits in the front of your head so hard until you just want to vomit from the pain.

inkthatpaints said...

This has been a long caution.

Daly Planet Editor said...

JD should get DH out. 2 laps down? Come on now Denny!

GinaV24 said...

NASCAR can't figure out what's going on with the radios. I'm hearing on the scanner that they aren't restarting this time until they get it figured out.

Martin Vincent said...

Nice S&P (or lack of) update by Mike Joy a moment ago.

Anonymous said...

can you tell us more about the radio issues as FOX wont

Anonymous said...

S&P Scanner Chatter (#66 McDowell):

Phil Parsons: "Go to the garage and work on something and put tires on. Come back out when everyone's on 30 lap tires"

McDowell: "I feel like a hero out there on the new tires, must be what Kyle Busch feels like on Saturday's"

McDowell: "This is the longest debris caution I have ever seen in my entire life"

OSBORNK said...

The shot of the stands showed a lot of empty seats.

Sally said...

Musta been some very small debris.

The Loose Wheel said...

Looks like a full house tonight

GinaV24 said...

Yes and since no one can actually say anything, the sport is suffering in silence and the fans continue to lose interest.

LOL of course I say that as I spend my Sat night here with you guys talking about the race, so I am still mildly interested but that is mostly because I have a favorite driver who I will watch as long as he's on the track. After that, I plan to be done with NASCAR.

Charlie said...

I think I saw two and three wide racing in the back ground there.

Anonymous said...

Can they possibly blow any more smoke up Jimmie/Chad's butts?? Sorry, but they are very divisive figures ...

GinaV24 said...

Mike Joy can pronounce Kez's name correctly. It's nice to hear.

red said...

jd, i can see no possible reason why hamlin is still in that car. none whatsoever. i guarantee that hamlin is hurting and his focus is lost.

he needs to be brought in and extricated so that he can get immediate treatment AND painkillers. he still has a long flight home with an injury that is keenly sensitive to pressure changes.

this race is done for him: do they want to concede next week as well?

GinaV24 said...

Wow, look at that. They are showing the race.

Sally said...

Nice touch with the split screen on 2 battles! Wish they could do that more! Good job!

Daly Planet Editor said...

red,

We have not heard his radio. He might just feel fine. We are a tad uninformed right now.

Andrew said...

@MV - That Indy race was the week between Dega and Watkins Glen. Hamlin had a week off between his surgery and this race. I know he's no Intimidator, but I'm just pointing it out.

Andrew said...

Also, I do think Denny should step out now since he's multiple laps down. Not that you'd know it from FOX's comments.

GinaV24 said...

@tia - I thought it was kissing the 48/CC posterior the booth was doing, rather than the smokeblowing, you referenced. LOL and I feel for you because i feel the same.

Red -- I agree, someone like Joe Gibbs needs to say - bring the car in, we are making the driver change NOW.

Sally said...

No mention of Harvick running in the top 10 now. Hmmm.

Andrew said...

When was the last time we had all 43 cars running on lap 163? And is there any chance of FOX pointing that out?

The Loose Wheel said...

All 43 cars have resumed competition

The Loose Wheel said...

Lol Andrew you beat me to it

Martin Vincent said...

@Andrew - My bad, I thought Indy was after the Glen. So he injured his sternum and shoulder blade, then relinquished his car to Skinner and then ran the whole race at the Glen? For some reason, I thought the Glen was right after the race in which he got injured. Thanks for setting me straight.

I still think Hamlin should get out.

GinaV24 said...

and soft tissue injuries take longer to heal. Sometimes you just have to let it rest.

The Loose Wheel said...

Im gonna monitor Denny's radio and let you guys know what is up.

I believe if you go to the fedex racing site you can get denny's raceview if you'd like also for anyone interested

Robby Gordon really is having a stellar night

inkthatpaints said...

Did you see that tweetpic that Hamlin posted right before the race with the syringe full of fluid he drained . . . a racecar is not a good place for recovery.

red said...

jd, with all due respect, i don't need to hear his radio. i know what he's going through first hand. they pulled stitches and tapped his knee prior to the race and he still struggled to get into the car. pulling fluid is intended to alleviate swelling and immediately reduce pain and increase flexibility and mobility.

having to brake with his right foor tells me he can't get on top of the pedal with his left foot hard enough to engage the break. that's the weakness that comes with the blow out of the acl and meniscus.

yes, he's an athlete at the top of his game but his comments about his body not doing what his mind wants it to do are in synch with what i experienced when i ripped the acl the first time.

he's hurting. how he handles it is different than how i did but the bottom line is the same.

some things don't change.

I cannot believe this race is only half way. It feels like eternity.

GinaV24 said...

Thanks, David. It would be good to know

MikeC said...

I really don't know why they lengthened this race. I know they did it to fill the time slot. However, itt took 1hr, 40 min to run 156 laps (which would've been half of the former length).....another 1hr 40min would put them at 11pm. We're not even halfway yet, and this race has been going for nearly 2 hours. No way it'll be over by 11p.m.

Card Game Nut said...

I quit watching after NASCAR didn't throw the caution for Kurt Busch hitting the wall. Something's up when you wait until after the pit rotation to throw a caution that should have come out a lap before that.

Daly Planet Editor said...

Halfway!!!!

The Loose Wheel said...

Mike, They did it to end the race at night. Period. That was what PIR wanted as well as some fans in the area. Its a direct result of the standard start times this year.

Denny is pretty quiet right now. Will be interesting when caution flies

GinaV24 said...

I didn't see the tweetpic, but any time you have to drain fluid and pull stitches out to increase mobility - it just can't be good. Red, I'm really sorry about your knee.

OSBORNK said...

Caution on the track for fluid. Nascar crying because Jr. was about to go a lap down?

red said...

@gina24 thanks. many years playing a variey of sports and not permitting myself time to heal between injuries have taken me to this point.
but i wouldn't trade it for anything -- except maybe some really good pain killers right about now.

The Loose Wheel said...

Legit caution. Montoya about wrecked and the 55 went behind the wall trailing fluid.

Karen said...

Pic on twitter gross. Be glad you missed it.

GinaV24 said...

MikeC - the track wanted it to be a "night race" finish and were afraid that with the original length they wouldn't get it.

I had a late night last night so I'm not sure how much longer I'm going to stay awake since its almost 10 p.m. now and with Johnson leading and the hit or miss coverage by Fox, I'm not finding it all that entertaining.

The only good thing is talking with all y'all.

The Loose Wheel said...

Juan says water up to 240. Should go down when they restart hopefully

Anonymous said...

Gina - Smoke blowing ... hiney smooching ... same thing ... LOL ;-) I tried liking Jimmie when he ran Busch for Herzog-Jackson, but it just didn't work ... Something about him just irritate the snausage out of me ... LOL ;-)

red - I wholeheartedly agree with you in regards to Denny and the knee problems ... I've had surgery on mine as I've injured both multiple times (right one with most problems & surgery) ... Driving is a pain, esp if the road is bumpy & you can't stretch out the leg ... Denny's NOT doing himself (or his team) any favors by staying in ...

In fact ... Denny not getting out is just proving that he's stubborn and hard headed ... and just not very smart ... I still cannot believe his doctor wasn't strongly urging to get the surgery BEFORE the season started ...

Anonymous said...

Were there pitstops there? Not sure I saw them.

GinaV24 said...

Red - knee pain is not fun. I've suffered with my share but so far, knock wood, have avoided any injuries requiring surgery. I'd like to continue that trend!

Anonymous said...

Has anyone been paying attention to Danica in Open Wheel. Her current qualifing and race results in her home series are almost making her Nacar results look good. I think the qualified 19th out of 25, 2.5 seconds off the pole speed which s average for her over all the races this season...

but she is a real racers racer, no doubt about it!!! (just never knew the real racers hung out in th back of the field)

The Loose Wheel said...

Juan feels like his brakes might be an issue at the end. Spotter says rotors have looked great though.

Daly Planet Editor said...

Totally blew the pitstop coverage. This Director is just feaked out right now. Tight shots and in-cars.

GinaV24 said...

tia - worse yet - I have family who are fans and I'm stuck between having to be "nice" when I really don't want to be! LOL

Oh, too agressive on restarts -- geez DW, go figure when they usually make up good positions on the restarts.

Sally said...

Now THAT is a useful incar shot. Showed Kez trying to stay off the 14 and the 56 not being able to back off soon enough.

Andrew said...

AUGH. Subway commercial during the freakin' race.

And it's taken them nearly three hours to comment on the bugs? Oy.

Daly Planet Editor said...

That is one of the best uses of the in-car cams. Replays.

and now, we're on to the bugs.

GinaV24 said...

David, it's been wet everywhere! the water table in NJ is up to our knees.

The Loose Wheel said...

I see Jeff Burton is a lap down, any idea how that happened?

Texas is actually a 3 p.m. start, but for some reason gets a very long pre-race show, maybe so Hammond can wear his cowboy outfit.

The Loose Wheel said...

Gina, we had our YEARLY rainfall in 2 weeks

GinaV24 said...

Holy mackeral, David. Yeah, that's wet all right.

No idea on what happened with Burton - I haven't heard them say anything, but then again, their lips are moving but its all blaah, blah blah.

Sally said...

@ David...I noticed Jr. seems to finally be passing a car or two. Any news on what they fixed on his car, of is it just the changing track. Or is it just some fluke that he's moving forward?

Haha, good one, never heard that before, oh how we all laughed! "Hibred!"

Texas will have the normal Sunday race pre-race show, an hour long. Only the Saturday night races will there be a 30-minute pre-race.

GinaV24 said...

Anon - an extra long pre-race show, be still my heart! thanks for the info.

I don't watch the prerace shows very often -- waste of an hour of my life.

Steve L. said...

I've backed up my dvr twice tonight to make sure I'm hearing correctly, Mike Joy is saying Juan 'Palo Montoya. He's not saying Pablo. He just did it again after the break.

The Loose Wheel said...

Sally I have no idea. Haven't been monitoring their situation. I saw he went way back though so Im guessing either they got it comfortable or the track came to them.

Burton was on the lead lap 50 laps ago so either he pit outside of his box or something. Really would be great to get an update there if anyone has it.

Anonymous said...

@MikeC

You are right.

The reason it seems weird is because Texas got special permission to pretend its a west coast race.

So even though it should act like Kansas and Chicago, it doesn't.

Anonymous said...

Phil Parsons is a very angry man right now.

Anonymous said...

Details please...why is Phil so angry??

Steve L. said...

31 pitted outside his box and had to start on tail of lead lap cars.

GinaV24 said...

I figure before long all the tracks will want a special dispensation for their start and we'll be right back with start times all over the map.

Anonymous said...

This information is from another forum:

McDowell: "So someone blew up?"
Phil: "Was our other car, transmission"
McDowell: "Who was that?"
Phil: "66"
McDowell: "55"
Phil: "WHATEVER CAR"
McDowell: "So they're out for transmission?"
Phil: "Yeah"

...

Phil's getting pissed. Yelling on the radio and told them to let NASCAR have the gear (or transmission).

The Loose Wheel said...

Steve, thanks. That is a 1 lap penalty actually so that answers that.

thanks!

Daly Planet Editor said...

What's up with Parsons?

The Loose Wheel said...

LOL Phil Parsons

GinaV24 said...

and there's DW giving advice again to the 24 team. Gee, Jeff's won a race or two, think he didn't already think about the brake bias?

Sally said...

Thank you to all the Planeteers here who manage to keep us up to date on what's happening on the track. Too bad that Fox can't do the same.

Daly Planet Editor said...

The TV booth is tired and wandering in the comments.

Lots of folks have left already. That is sad. Helpless to fix it!

GinaV24 said...

Well, that new whatever you call it when they go to commercial (the one with Johnson) looked like it was from that movie Tron.

MikeC said...

On the plus side, get the sense Fox has had difficulty selling their Saturday night race ad inventory. Don't seem to be as many commercial breaks as there is for the Sunday events.

Anonymous said...

man, if you let DW talk enough he just makes himself look sooooo stupid. He can contradict himself more times about more things in the shortest amount of time than any announcer I have ever heard.

Is that what one of the Emmy awards they keep bragging about was for??? should have been....

Martin Vincent said...

@Buschseries61 - Is Phil pissed because even though they had a legitimate and known issue with the transmission, he'll be subjected to the mandatory engine tear-down after the race?

Anonymous said...

If Parsons ever actually got caught with a so-called part failure that wasn't broken, that sounds like a violation of the famous section 12-4-A of the rulebook.

GinaV24 said...

I give it another 15 minutes and then I'm going to bed. Not enough interesting coverage to make me stay awake. I'll read about it tomorrow.

Anonymous said...

Remember the PRISM plan to let the 55 finish ahead of the 66? Looks like the 66 is done for the night and will take a ride to the R&D center with Blaney's transmission. Bad night for PRISM.

MikeC said...

We'll see how contradictory DW is. At the beginning of the race he said this was a "4-tire track", that they'll have to change 4 tires to win. I'm waiting to see if someone wins with a 2-tire stop, and see what DW says about it.

Anonymous said...

Mike joy is having a bad night (one of many this season IMO).

They are dropping like flies! Reporter Jeff Gluck had a free deal at CMS and the fans even left that!

Sport got problems folks.

Andrew said...

@Anon 10:23 - I was trying to be positive but I can't take much more of this. I said the camera work was a step ahead of ESPN's work last night, and it is still decent. But Mike Joy has given up and let DW and Larry Mac run roughshod over him. The last round of pit stops were awful. And Hammond shouting was the last straw.

The race seems fantastic from what I can tell via Twitter, the leaderboard, and the limited racing we're seeing on FOX. But FOX's overall telecast is simply not worth watching.

Anonymous said...

yea, that new policy has really help the racing...keep the backmarkers on the track as long as possible cause it's all about the numbers.....not the quality.

(that applies to NASCRAPS thoughts on the number of cars on track and the number of drinks Brian France can have in a night. the more the better, don't have to be good ones as long as there is a lot of them)

The Loose Wheel said...

no break in and stops on replay. awesome.

GinaV24 said...

Anon I heard him say that too and was really wondering since the camera shot obviously showed a different story.

Anonymous said...

editor, can you tell us more about that, what was this free deal, a tv in a room or what?

Sally said...

I'ts just like bragging about how many cars finish on the lead lap. With the charity lap and wave around rule, it's no surprise that more cars are on the lad lap. DUH.

Steve L. said...

I don't think the added laps to this race will help the ratings. If anything, worse.

Tom said...

Classic example of that, Sally...
When Gordon was dominating at Vegas, the cars on the lead lap had shrunk to 10. Thanks to the last caution, the number ended up at 21 (I think).

and geez, the cliches! Oh the humanity! blech.

red said...

jd, i believe that the sport is in trouble for a wide variety of reason but first and formost is the inconsistent or poor quality of the weekly broadcast. when the VAST majority of fans aren't at the track for any given race, they have to rely on the images that tv provides.

and, for the most part, i believe tv has failed them in a very big way. and so they come to believe that the racing is bad because that's how they experience it at home.

i can say this for myself: if i feel this way after tnt has pulled their part of this circus wagon down the road, i'll be out for the end of the season.

If anyone is on autopilot it's the people who are posting here. They've mentioned and covered the majority of the top 25 all night. Followed the start and parkers and showed them all on screen at one point. Mike Joy has reset the field on nearly every restart since lap 100. Updated the free pass car, showed lots of enthusiasm. They did a through the field back to 20th. They are making an effort to catch every battle and pass inside the top 20. Updating everyone regularily.

It's as if you are all reading from a script. You made up your minds before the green flag came out.

Why can't they do that a couple times a race EVERY RACE!!!!

Anonymous said...

So JD,

What Jim Utter was saying is that they "time shifted" the pitstops into the time they were on the air?

That may actually be a first. Why not have the announcers in a studio in Los Angeles or Bristol like they'd do for Formula One?

Charlie said...

I use to wait for a commercial to go and get a drink, etc but not anymore.

The Loose Wheel said...

Drat! You caught me. guess I better turn off my autopilot and start writing my own posts again!!

To my point though, if FOX did such an amazing job tonight why did it take 40 laps to update us on Jeff Burton's penalty? He is a Chase contender, and fan favorite, no reason why it should have taken a half hour to mention. But, to be fair they have briefly mentioned start and parks and gone through the field once.

Vicky D said...

anon@10:48: agreed in re: the thru the field. i was watching lap times online & only half listening b/c i thought it was just random comments. took me to about the 7th car before i realized it was a field recap.

Anon 10:59PM,

A friend of mine who is a TV exec said that FOX had lost its sense of urgency. They are comfortable, no one gives them crap about it and they can get away with it.

Did not used to be that way. A NASCAR guy would come charging into the TV compound after the race if they felt the network had screwed up.

Now, its hundreds of millions of dollars later. No one yells at TV.

No sense of urgency to get it right.

bozo said...

4 hours of racing going past 11:00 pm isn't going to increase your tv ratings - almost all tv sports have tried to speed up the game... nascar has to do it...

The Loose Wheel said...

JD thats true because I recall way back when Jr used to shun FOX because he did not care for their way of doing things/conducting interviews or whatever. And then who can forget Tony just toying with a confused Jamie Little

Sally said...

If their ratings keep dropping, maybe they will have to try something different.

Anonymous said...

If its a question of urgency with tv contracts, then NASCAR needs to learn from the NCAA and build in opt-outs from the contracts. CBS continued to innovate on March madness in part because they wanted to make putting the contract out for bid to be a risky proposition, even if there's more money available.

Mike said...

I quit yelling at the TV, I just don't care enough and I'm not really watching.

a confused Jamie Little, isn't that redundant???

Sally said...

No one used to complain about the length of races. All of a sudden it's seen as a huge problem. I think the coverage is the problem, not the racing. well, maybe except for places like cookie cutter tracks. If TV won't show all the racing action they can cover and include all the cars on the track, who wants to bother? No matter how long the races are.

Spoeaking of contracts? All cable next time around?

ESPN/TNT/SPEED/the Ebersol-run VERSUS?

Mike said...

I think NASCAR is in for a rude awakening next contract time if things stay the same.

Anonymous said...

I wish SciFy would take the contract, they seem to make some great TV!! te remake of Battlestar Gallatica, the stargate series, a network that stays with what they say they are Science Fiction. You don't seem them making a, dance around in your favorite star trek costume talent show do you.

Take the hint Speed!

Were being shown an in-car cam and being told by the booth that they are 4 wide.
At least the booth let us know.

I agree. The length of races is not the problem. Maybe it is tonight, the extra 63 laps may be overkill but FOX has not made it any better with their here one minute gone the next style. They seem like they are in cruise control which sucks. They used to be the best, now they could fall to the bottom of the pile by season's end.

I would really like to see CBS get back into the game. They were always a classy straighforward bunch, they never relied on gimmicks and are a basic network. But I doubt they will pony up the money which is a shame.

My other concern, having the same network get a chunk of the schedule. When you used to rotate networks around a little, sure it made finding the race a little tricky, but in this day and age every sport does it except NASCAR. the NFL is on several networks depending on the week, NBA, MLB too.

At least with the rotating network package you dont get as stale as fast. IMO anyways

Hamlin took wave around to get 1 lap down, didn't get the quick caution and had to pit under green. 3 laps down now.

Anonymous said...

how can you say he has lead this many laps so far, is leading now, and if he leads the rest he MIGHT lead the most laps.

Isn't that simple math to figure it out??????? if your going to make a point of it wouldn't you do that math????

&^%@!@~#@%$# booth morons!!!!!

Anonymous said...

the grandstands do look full when you put billboards in a bunch of them.(shhh we didn't notice)

The Loose Wheel said...

Hats off to the Raymond Key team. Still on the lead lap! Heck of an effort and good to see that for Scott Riggs! Great run for Newman too. Will we see the late "buncher" caution?

Charlie said...

The booth is just chit chatting about next weeks race and there are 18 laps to go.

Anonymous said...

9 to go caution i predict

Anonymous said...

what exactly does everyone here want? they are showing the single file racing. if they find a battle, they show it. what is it you want?

bozo said...

what is it that kyles car smokes and the other cars have flames out the exhaust..i wonder if they have something that is allowing them to get better use of their fuel..some more hp maybe

Anonymous said...

Same story, same players every week ... When your favorite driver(s) don't seem to have a chance to win because a small handful dominate the carp out of the races/series, it makes you want to GIVE UP on NASCAR completely ...

The Loose Wheel said...

bozo, that is a trick JGR has used with the TRD engine package on short tracks since 2008. Probably doing it here since they are using more of a short track package. Not quite 100% sure of what it is but I do not think it helps their fuel mileage at all, though it does help them keep the brakes from taking all of the load.

Tonight's broadcast has been mediocrity at its best. The beverages have been much better.

NASCARONFOX needs to buy a clue, this is felonious assault of a programming property. MRN is must-see radio for me.

The Loose Wheel said...

UGH!!!!!!

The Loose Wheel said...

42 is taking 4, if the 18 comes they are getting 4

Anonymous said...

bozo - The JGR cars smoke because they suck air ... They're running loose valve guides ... And because of the high temps/RPMs they're running, it burns off any oil that it might be sucking in from the valve case ...

It gives them better fuel mileage as well as more horsepower ...

Anonymous said...

hmmmm could they paid him to do that?????

start and park, stays in the entire race only to wreck with 5 to go and save another debries caution.....

just makes you think

bozo said...

joy..7 laps away..they just said 5 to go.... im guessing he was looking at some screen where they added 3 laps to the 4..

This race stinks, overall. When is Nascar going to wake up and realize that the racing is bad and boring? You can't do a good broadcast with such a boring race. What are these guys supposed to do when everyone is falling asleep. No one wants to race hard to screw up their points for the Chase. Another point is these guys are making way too much money, they have nothing to really race for. Money and Hendrick is ruining this sport.

Deedub forgot where he is! Whatsup with that?

Why not just have races that are timed for 3 hours with a competition yellow with about 10 minutes to go?

The Loose Wheel said...

Or what Tia said. she knows what's up lol

The Loose Wheel said...

Why not stop changing every single thing about the sport?

Let me thank every one of you for stopping by tonight. It's been a very long night and there has not been too much in terms of fun TV.

If you have a moment, just click back to the main page and leave us a race wrap comment on the TV coverage.

This is the most widely read post of our week. Lots of folks use it to get some fan feedback on how things went.

Appreciate you guys taking the time to post.

hummmm how many tires did he take????????

DW, again, your a idiot

Anonymous said...

Where's MikeC?

MikeC said...

We'll see how contradictory DW is. At the beginning of the race he said this was a "4-tire track", that they'll have to change 4 tires to win. I'm waiting to see if someone wins with a 2-tire stop, and see what DW says about it.

OSBORNK said...

I think I'll just set my alarm and watch the last 10 laps. The rest of the race is just run so they can get in the commercials. Why waste so many hours watching when it doesn't matter?

Anonymous said...

now DW just proved again why he has no real credibility.

he says they were all fooled and took 4 tires. HE WAS THE ONE WHO SAID IT WOULD TAKE 4 TO WIN!!!!

i don't know why i hate him so much.......

Daly Planet Editor said...

Didn't DW say you had to take 4 tires to win? Am I wrong on that?

Anonymous said...

krista says Jimmy was running tight, could she see his butt checks clenched or what????

Anonymous said...

See my post at 11:37 (reposting what MikeC posted earlier when DW said the winner would get 4 tires).

Daly Planet Editor said...

Moving comments up to the race wrap page. Thanks!

Yet another Hendrick win ... even though they try to claim it's Stewart-Haas ... :-(

I skipped the Martinsville Cup race and didn't miss it ... Now, I'm thinking I should've skipped tonights and just rearranged my farm on FarmVille ... :-(
