Live Blogging Sprint Cup Series From New Hampshire (12PM ET - TNT)

This is the final TNT tune-up before the network's big show at Daytona on Saturday night. The New Hampshire Motor Speedway has been known as a single-file flat track, but later today it might be called the payback track by the media.

Tempers are tight and a superspeedway looms next week, so paybacks are on the agenda and making headlines in the media. Lindsay Czarniak starts the TNT coverage at noon ET with Kyle Petty and Larry McReynolds on the panel. Petty injured his leg on a kayak trip this weekend. Look for the TNT crew to bring that up.

Dale Inman is the subject of the Pride of NASCAR feature. Denny Hamlin is the on-set driver interview. Wally's World will provide a course description. Lindsay Czarniak takes a ride with Jeff Burton.

Adam Alexander will call the race with Petty and Wally Dallenbach Jr. alongside. Matt Yocum, Phil Parsons, Ralph Sheheen and Marty Snider will report from pit road.

The challenge of the TNT team will either be to create excitement from what has been a traditionally boring race or try to keep track of the "have at it boys" paybacks that may start early in the event. Kind of interesting not knowing what might happen after the green flag waves.

Loudon works great on TV. The low angle shots show the speed while the in-car cameras are super for the tight racing. A straight pit road makes for a good triple-split on the caution flag pitstops that are normally a key to the race.

While Sonoma lent itself to the commentary from Dallenbach, it will be Petty who is in the lead this week on a flat one-mile track. It has been ten years since Kyle's son Adam Petty lost his life in a pre-race accident at this facility. Petty stated earlier that it was on his mind. It certainly should be.

This TNT crew has been smooth but affected by the tough hand-off from FOX. Low TV ratings have been dogging the series this season. Perhaps the threat of drivers mixing it up instead of driving for points will bring some fans back to the TV today.

This post will serve to host your comments about the TNT coverage of the Sprint Cup Series from the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. just tuning in countdown to green and racebuddy is up. looking forward to another great tv coverage of the race from TNT.

Hope we get a good race, the ratings need it!

having trouble with RB link, followed the live/prerace intros link on homepage, just a black screen, that keeps replaying the add when you hit play

Daly Planet Editor said...

RaceBuddy should be up around 12:30PM ET.

Charlie said...

Race Buddy should be working in about 20 minutes. At the bottom of the hour.

Lou said...

annon.. hit the refresh again. it just came on a few minutes ago. jim was just giving commentary

Good day yall.
Got Race Ruddy on and you can here the music. Cool!
That's my Bud's Foghat performing at the race track.
They have a really cool new album out. Foghat Blues call last Train Home.
It's really good.
http://www.amazon.com/Last-Train-Home-Foghat/dp/B003KNDL5K
Enjoy the race.

Kyle Petty live on Twitter in the TV commmercials during the TNT pre-race show.

The Loose Wheel said...

Looking forward to this. I may not be able to suck up the energy for a bazillion hours of pre-race and weekend garbage but always ready for a race!

Charlie said...

Why spin the stage when doing the show live?

Daly Planet Editor said...

Charlie,

It's a TV thing! We have ben yelling at them to stop for three years now.

JD

Anonymous said...

David, have to agree with you. We're going to hear at least 3 hours of "payback talk" today alone after hearing it all week long. Let's just race already!!!

Daly Planet Editor said...

NASCAR Now, RaceDay and now TNT all on the payback train.

Lou said...

JD, two things i noticed this season on racebuddy is that the picture is better on my computer and streams well and the audio is better also. and jim noble is a a good addition to racebuddy. he is doing an interview w/the driver of the 47 right now. i enjoy this more than i do prerace on the tv at times.

Daly Planet Editor said...

Lou, there is little doubt in my mind that we will have all the Cup races online next season.

Just depends on what form they take.

The Loose Wheel said...

Those Pride of NASCAR pieces are seriously the BEST feature of ANY pre-race show in NASCAR period.

PammH said...

David-totally agree! I learn so much history from those segments about Nascar legends.

Anonymous said...

I can only imagine it takes a lot of mental fortitude for Kyle to be at the track where Adam was killed. Ironically, the spot of the accident is over his shoulder in his tight shot.

The Loose Wheel said...

Very true, Kyle has never enjoyed coming back to Loudon because of that but I believe coming back each time does a little something in the healing process

Charlie said...

That Nascar Offical next to Tony Stewart is a huge tall guy.

Anonymous said...

@JD, inside knowledge about online streaming next year? ;)

Also, any chance ESPN comes to their senses before august, maybe with ESPN3 or something? one can hope, right?

Daly Planet Editor said...

Kyle said earlier on Twitter that is was tough. Has to be....

Daly Planet Editor said...

Anon, the TV ratings are so bad that the panic button has been pushed.

Anonymous said...

Why Canada? Louden isn't even close.
Might as well ad Mexico, South America, and some more and make it an international show.

Charlie said...

Now that was one bad National Anthem.

Lou said...

and thats is another thing. racebuddy w/the mosaic view makes you feel like you are at the track w/the different views you get. almost like being there. again this week i did see some driver intros and other views that we do not get on the prerace shows.

i can only wish that we could get wendy, hermie, steve and kyle on racebuddy. then i would watch prerace more often.

Racing4aliving said...

Nice Job to my Foghat bud Bryan and the band!
That was the way it should be done. Who needs beauty queens?

They should have had Juan Montoya drive the indy car. Being Target and all.

GinaV24 said...

well they sure are playing up "payback" today aren't they? Unfortunately since My guy may be in the hot seat, I am not happy about it, but that's a personal problem for me.

Can I say how much I hate the Captin Morgan deal each week?

Daly Planet Editor said...

Taking your comments today on the TNT telecast from NHMS.

Live race scheduled until 4:30PM. Extended post-race on NASCAR.com

GinaV24 said...

pit command isn't working right on nascar.com either. I'm going to exit and enter again. I have scanner but NO screen except for the prerace splash

My predictions:

S&P: 87, 13, 66, 55, 71 and 64
Maybe: 36 and 46

The Loose Wheel said...

MV, it was said on SPEED 36 is racing all day. I expect Yeley to also.

Pitcommand works here

The Loose Wheel said...

nevermind, pitcommand sound works, the rest dont

Racing4aliving said...

Yes JD, the next season will be interesting with a web presence like Race Buddy taking the racing scene by storm.
The other networks have to follow. But----
Since Turner controls the right to the web then somebody will have to step in and make it happen.
Will it be NASCAR? Will it be the Frances?
Will it be NASCAR Media Group?
Money will be made on sponsors, money will change hands and the fur will fly!
It has to happen! it's the future/present for broadcasting.

The Loose Wheel said...

it works now

Daly Planet Editor said...

Racing,

Those talks are currently underway. Should have news about the ESPN races soon.

If they do not have RaceBuddy for the final 17 Cup races, it could be a disaster.

GinaV24 said...

finally it came up. big delay on nascar.com today. guess I'll be seeing a lot of my driver today while the cameras all lurk to see who wrecks him. geez

I wish painting my house was romantic....sheesh!

The Loose Wheel said...

JD, even if ESPN can get ESPN3 for their races that would be a big help.

I mean just a few years ago NW races were being streamed online I can't imagine those 2 parties not being able to reach some kind of compromise again.

Pretty good camera shots so far. Wish they could dip into mid 20's since there is some racing there

Daly Planet Editor said...

I tried to refresh RaceBuddy several times, but it is still lagging. I did not have this problem before. Wah..

The Loose Wheel said...

13 off

Daly Planet Editor said...

David,

ESPN3 is not an issue. The races will not be streamed live.

RaceBuddy is owned by Turner, as are the online rights.

ESPN/NASCAR would make a deal to offer RaceBuddy through NASCAR.com just like SPEED did for the twins and the All-Star race.

WTF is with all of the coverage of Sliced Bread??

People complain about the over-coverage of Danica ... But, the amount of tv time given to Joey is beyond insane ... and it's sickening ...

W_Rabb said...

Any added insight as to why NHMS had an Indy Car at the race today? Could it be as Robbin Miller Said earlier this week that ICS is coming to NHMS in 2011?

The Loose Wheel said...

55 off.

Start and parks getting off track early today.

JD I did a hand count yesterday of cars expected to run all night in the NW race, man I struggled to get to 20 that would have no problems. Teams like JDM and Baker/Curb being huge question marks as well as Rensi-Hamilton.

Do they turn a blind eye to that going in because I haven't seen anyone even mention it being an issue online of my usual sources.

Sorry for the OT there.

Hamlin not really making ground, TNT should update

The Loose Wheel said...

IndyCar is going to Loudon next year. It is a done deal, however it could be at the expense of the Cup date.

IMO they do the Aflac trivia question too early in the race.

Finally got both working RB & PitComm. but I don't know for how long. Joey is a nice kid - but whats he done that merits so much coverage?

Martin Vincent said...

@red - I don't have so much of a problem with Papis doing the S&P thing, Geico is only sponsoring him for 2/3 of the season and they just want to make sure they'll be in the race if rain cancels qualifying on a weekend they were intending to race. Prism Motorsports is a different story, I heard they're not looking for sponsors and just cashing in on "last place purse".

Vince said...

RB working now. Just took about 5 minutes to start up on my computer today. Geez.

Anonymous said...

@cdh - try rebooting - its what worked for me

GinaV24 said...

the tv ratings are so bad because the TV broadcasts are so bad.

Having things on line works for me - racebuddy is the best thing that nascar.com/tnt does.

Daly Planet Editor said...

Gina,

The FOX hand-off to TNT was not one with a lot of momentum going.

TNT is pulling their hair out to fix things.

The Loose Wheel said...

JD, let's not ever speak of the Coke 600 again. I'm still trying to forget that disaster.

At least Joy sounds happier at Barrett-Jackson

GinaV24 said...

this is joey's "home" track since its close to CT -- so I guess that's why, but honestly what I really want is for them to cover the WHOLE race, not just the chosen few.

TNT is still the best of the bunch with professional unbiased coverage at the race.

GinaV24 said...

so they just said Johnson a big mover from 10th to 3rd -- OK, big deal, Gordon went from 15th to
8th place so has picked up the same # of spots -- I never could stand marty snider for some reason.

Patrick said...

64 OUT Transmission

I'm currently working on crash #3 of RaceView. <<--resource hog.

Anonymous said...

@JD -maybe you or one of the Planeteers know - why doesn't TNT get more races? They cover them really well, very professionally just like they cover basketball. Why not more races?

Patrick said...

87 back to the garage.

GinaV24 said...

considering that the debris that the TV cameras showed was NOT what the caution was called for -- that piece was up by the wall - the spotters called it out and that's where the truck stopped -- the camera showed a water bottle down on the apron.

Charlie said...

RaceBuddy is a demanding graphic add-on. I have a low end computer and when I try to watch RaceBuddy the pictures are jerky so it is no use to me.

Patrick said...

I must have misheard that call on the official's channel.

37 to the garage, NOT the 87

Sally said...

I like the way the leaderboard updates and lets you know whether a driver has gone up or down. I remember in the OLD days when the ESPN dropdown did the wame thing.

Racing4aliving said...

JD, you may have forgotten that the hand off was from a BROADCAST network to a cable network.
Numbers are down because the entire sport has lost it's appeal to the masses.
Plus the sport has economic issues also just like the rest of us.
Ticket sales are way down.
If you want to see a crowd, go to Walmart.

Anonymous said...

Anyone else counting their millions? LOL

GinaV24 said...

LOL, JD. Fox's handoff to TNT was an absolute debacle. To make the fans so upset with the TV coverage in the first half of the year is just stupid on the part of both Fox and NASCAR.

If I were TNT's management, I wouldn't be pulling my hair out, I'd take a walk over to see David Hill and pull HIS out. Maybe that would get his attention!

Patrick said...

46 to the garage.

Patrick said...

turn 3 talking about debris.

Sally said...

Jr. gets close to Logano so they switch incar to Tony.

Patrick said...

87 passes the 46, then goes to the garage. then, then the 46 gets back on the track. tag. you're it.

GinaV24 said...

wow, sally they switched AWAY for Jr. that's unexpected.

GinaV24 said...

thank heavens for the mute button that I can use during commercials.

Daly Planet Editor said...

Racing, I don't understand any of that. IMHO Fox was horrible.

Broadcast or cable, bad TV is bad TV. There are lots of choices and fans drifted away.

Ratings don't take ticket sales into consideration. Many of us are surprised in this economy that watching basic cable like TNT and ESPN is not a lot more popular.

NorCalFan said...

Why is the TV four laps behind PitCommand? I don't recall that happening before.

Patrick said...

37 back in the race. i don't remember this many start & parkers re-starting.

87 OUT Brakes.

Sally said...

Exactly, JD. The economy doesn't affect TV ratings...only the product and how it's presented do that.

Sally said...

I don't get it. They give us split screen, but only show the leader running all alone. what's the point of that?

Daly Planet Editor said...

There is a new prez of Fox Sports. There will be change for next season.

That might have been the worst TV coverage of NASCAR in recent history.

Arrogant, ego driven and self serving. Now we see the results.

ESPN is going to pull out all the stops down the stretch.

I hope that includes social media and online video.

red said...

well, if all you're going to show is a single car in the split screen, i'm ok with larry mac being in the larger of the two screens.

but if you do it right? split screen is a battle in the large screen and larry mac in the smaller window. didn't they get this right a coupla weeks ago?

Racing4aliving said...

Yes JD but the viewer ship is always lower on cable vs broadcast. Fox was more than horrible. It was tasteless and a bad representation of sports broadcasting.
My point about attendance is that even the people that are not in the seats do not care to watch the sport anymore.
Plus the economy is causing people to lose the cable. Just like me. I watch now on the internet. Thanks goodness for Race Buddy.

OSBORNK said...

Why are we only doing follow the leader and to heck with the rest?

Patrick said...

Where's is Larry Mac's jewelry? I thought that role required him to show a fine manicure and bling.

GinaV24 said...

Yeah, the whole if they aren't going to a race why aren't they watching on TV has seemed to really baffle NASCAR.

If the powers that be ever had to watch the entire broadcasts on TV - that includes pre-race through post-race - maybe they would understand WHY people have become less interested.

I wonder too if the commercials hurt the demographic of 18-34 year old males they are trying to attract? I can't imagine they are any more thrilled with "horny painter" commercials than I am. Yuck

Patrick said...

46 back to the garage

The Loose Wheel said...

37 is not a start and park, just having issues. I imagine 46 might have been behind the wall to locate and replace tires

GinaV24 said...

of course you also realize that TNT is saddled with tracks that produce some of THE most boring races on the circuit.

Sally said...

Is there no close racing for position farther back in the field? All we are getting is the top 4 or 5 cars.

Patrick said...

46 OUT Brakes

Sally said...

Bingo, Gina. Having a limited number or races, they sure got stuck with the most boring tracks on the circuit. Almost.

GinaV24 said...

JD, I sure hope you are right about both ESPN and Fox. ESPN disappointed terribly last year and Fox, well, your summation was right on.

The Loose Wheel said...

Was there any mention of McMurray being under the weather this weekend? PRN reported that on radio when I ran down the street to the store. Mears hanging tough. Wonder how Gluck feels about that since he is the biggest Mears fan ever

GinaV24 said...

Patrick, I think he should wear an evening gown and rotate the cars like Vanna does -- now that would be funny!

The Loose Wheel said...

No excuse for them to miss Johnson's stop troubles. They blew that big time

GinaV24 said...

wow, I see what you mean about the leaderboard over on racebuddy. I usually use the one on pitcommand, it is WAY off.

The Loose Wheel said...

However, nice job trying to cover as many stops as they could there. Got a little chaotic but they get an A for effort. Just not a fan of cutting between cars mid stop

GinaV24 said...

David - what happened to the 48?

The Loose Wheel said...

48 had a problem on the left rear. Very slow stop you could see they had trouble either with a lug or a spring rubber or something

Anonymous said...

Is anyone out there having problems with the sound on TNT TV broadcast? My cable company insists it's a TNT problem but I can't find anyone outside of this Charter Cable system with a problem.

GinaV24 said...

thanks, David. I appreciate the info

Daly Planet Editor said...

Swing and a miss on the 48!

Sally said...

Junior into 10th...anyone notice?

GinaV24 said...

wow, lots and lots of commercial breaks too.

The Loose Wheel said...

Nope, TNT solid here.

So is anyone else intrigued that the 71 is still out there. Lally racing for free perhaps?

Sally said...

The 'battle cam' on RB is swinging around like a Tilt-a-Whirl. I need some Dramamine!

GinaV24 said...

sally - just noticed that on the leaderboard.

See this is what I mean about the coverage - talk about the whole race. If that were the case, we'd know who was moving up or back in the field, no matter what their name or sponsor is.

Its stupid to not do it

Sally said...

TNT seems to have adapted the 'mention the top runners only' mentality of Fox. Can't get into the flow of the race this way. I'm disappointed in the coverage so far.

GinaV24 said...

Anon - I've got FIOS and my TNT coverage seems fine.

Martin Vincent said...

@David - I was thinking the same thing about Lally. Labonte left because they were S&Ping when they didn't have a sponsor. They don't have one today and Lally is still out on the track. I'm wondering if they're just trying to stay in the top-35 in owner points.

GinaV24 said...

Sally - maybe they think we're all getting info from RB, but its not excuse to not cover the race.

what happens when they do this is that I turn off the TV and use my computer -- that doesn't help their ratings.

The Loose Wheel said...

As I said, and this is why I appreciate Marty Reid so much because he is the only person other than Bill Weber last year to do it. He mentions every car, even a start and park. If someone pulls off, he brings it up. If someone comes back, he does it too. No one else gives us that info.

Every car should get a certain amount of respect because every driver, no matter how big or small has fans who want to know what is up. That this sport is in front of a national audience and your a Max Papis fan and HAVE to turn to Twitter to find out his deal is a sad state of affairs.

I know they can't cover every thing all the time but this picking of 15 or so cars and making THEM the storyline and to hell with everyone else is pathetic. Just the kind of thing you never saw from the old ESPN and the old TBS or TNN. It's not as if they can use the excuse it CANT be done because it was for years and years.

TNT has been the best this year but the competition hasn't been too great to beat.

Finally moving back showing some racing, thank you TNT.

GinaV24 said...

OK, I'm officially bored now. I'm going to go put a load of laundry in and come back in a little while

The Loose Wheel said...

MV, I think it may be as simple as economics. Lally is loyal to Buckler, and gets his paycheck from the Trans Am ride....so perhaps he is here racing for free in exchange for making laps. Your not paying the driver, therefore more money for tires.

Top 35 is a tough argument since the 38 missed the race. Shocked Front Row didn't driver swap Gilliland and TK again. Thought TK was their full time guy?

GinaV24 said...

OK, there was a pass being setup in the camera and they changed the shot -- what are they watching?

Martin Vincent said...

@David - Surprised too about Kvapil. Gilliland's speed in the 37 would have put the 38 in the race. Wonder if they felt bad about penalizing Gilliland and his crew for what Kvapil's crew did at Pocono. But you're right, Gilliland is usually in the car that needs to qualify on its speed.

Charlie said...

I remember back in the day when they covered each car and kept you up to date on what was going on with all the cars. Back then they never had to do Through The field either.

Now they just show you about 25% of the cars and they call it good.

Patrick said...

71 to the garage

RaceBuddy is still having huge lag issues. Noble wasn't even finished with his summary before we were back from commercial.

GinaV24 said...

Charlie - which again goes to the reasons why people aren't tuning in as much. if the broadcast doesn't cover the whole race and all the drivers and your driver isn't one that usually gets coverage, you have no reason to watch.

its a self-fulfilling prophecy - then add in a car on the track that's a kit car with no mfg loyalty to play for the fans and NASCAR brewed up a real problm for themselves.

The Loose Wheel said...

MV, good point though I thought at Michigan or Sonoma they did the team swap again. So just hard to figure what the rhyme or reason is over there except that Conway is usually in the highest up car in owners points.

Plus with Richardson getting ready to run next week it makes it that much more difficult for Kvapil now.

Anonymous said...

PRN / TNT are doing a horrible job at follow-up ...

Tell us WTF happened to the car that started 8th and is now 1 lap down in 27th ...

Oh, that's right ... He's NOT one of the chosen few ...

PRN acted surprised after the first pitstops ... but then never said what happened ...

Patrick said...

71 OUT Brakes.

Racing4aliving said...

Sorry to ruin your fun but if you notice any similarity between Fox and TNT it's because Barry Landis does both networks in the chair.

Charlie said...

At the beginning of the broadcast they always show us who has the in-car camera. Wonder if they could show us the list before the race on who they are going to follow with the regular cameras. Then you could decide if you want to watch or not.

Charlie said...

A split screen for the 18 and 9 would have been a nice touch during their pit stops.

cdh said...

TNT is on cable, which is paid for by subscribers, unlike FOX. So why so many commercials? Does it not make a difference?

Anonymous said...

Pit Command is showing every car from 4th back as a lap down -useless!

The Loose Wheel said...

I haven't had any troubles with pit command today. It has been more than accurate on my end.

Love that Toyota Logano commercial! LOL

Is it possible with next week being wide open TNT is trying to make their money back in the other races?

Ever since Pocono the commercials have gotten worse and worse.

I agree, split on 18 and 9 would have been great since 18 killed it on pit road! =)

GinaV24 said...

PRN doesn't do as well in the race coverage as MRN IMO. I am always happy when I hear the "right" voices on the radio broadcast.

GinaV24 said...

boy I'm watching the race one racebuddy and they were showing an actual battle not one car like TV

thank you!

Anonymous said...

Where is Jacques Debris??

Even PRN just called for it ...

Daly Planet Editor said...

Racing,

Amazing how free and creative Barry is without someone next to him calling the shots in the director's chair.

Just sayin that we have been here for four seasons and are aware of who is producing and directing.

Kyle has been working hard with his stories and explanations to make this race somewhat interesting.

Hope Daytona works out much better for TNT next weekend.

Racing4aliving said...

JD, who do you mean that calls the shots for Barry on Fox? Artie? If not then who do you believe that takes away from his art?

Charlie said...

Do you think they picked to do the Through the Field starting at the 11th spot so they could talk about Joey again? ha ha.

Martin Vincent said...

One thing I've noticed on the TNT broadcasts, very often they come back from commercials and their microphones are live. Weird stuff gets heard sometimes that shouldn't be part of the broadcast (nothing bad, just laughing and talking about things that should be off the air).

What was that about? Barely 3 minutes on and back to commercials already?

Anonymous said...

JD- I am confused by your comments at 2:05 I understood that Darrel Waltrip said that Fox had a great broadcast season, maybe the best ever. Kenny Wallace says everything is great. If we can't trust two guys like DW and KW, who can we trust?

It must be the fans' fault. Maybe the broadcasts are pitched too smart for the fans to understand. Fox should probably dumb it down so we can understand it. Fans would be more impressed if broadcasters showed us more of their high tech toys and cameras. Nothing pulls me in like microscopic closeups in high definition.

All of the networks need more people in their coverage. More in the booth, at least two at the demo car, more in the revolving stage or Hollywood Hotel or whatever they call it. More clowns to lighten things up. More people telling me how THEY would do it. More people with blatant conflict of interest.

I'm hoping Fox keeps the same team in the booth except for the addition of Michael Waltrip. Fox/Speed love the Waltrip brothers, and Michael is already under contract. Can't you just imagine how great the Fox broadcasts would be with both Waltrip brothers in the booth at the same time?

Add 3-D broadcasts and Danica Patrick, and we have the promised land.

That's my recipe for putting TV viewers out of their misery.

Racing4aliving said...

They ran the field down that far because I know they are observing this blog constantly to improve their broadcast.
You talk, they listen. Turner is the only ones that care.
JD and the gang has their attention and it's working.

This time, they went 5 minutes before going back to commercials.

What Larry needed for that demonstration was Tim's broken valve animation on the computer screen. Because we all know that when an engine breaks, it's always due to a valve hitting the top of the cylinder.

9 blew up caution

JD, can you help with this question please? How are tracking internet viewers? Do they know how many people are streaming? Or hits?
Have they bragged about any of this yet?
Thanks

So much for Kasey's new FR9 engine.

Anon 3:14 I so hope that was sarcasm.

Please please tell me that was sarcasm

let's see back for a few pitstops then back to commercials. sheesh

I'm making dinner and doing laundry in between checking on the computer and TV.

If it weren't so blooming hot and humid in NJ, I'd have gone for a bike ride.

Seven cars get the wave around. And Nascar thinks they can brag about how many cars are on the lead lap? Oy.

The Loose Wheel said...

Gina, I think it was

Sally said...

You would think the 24 would know better than the mess with Montoya.

GinaV24 said...

maybe Montoya should grow a brain with all that testosterone and not mess with Gordon

The Loose Wheel said...

Both of them need to quit screwing around period

GinaV24 said...

oh man, you realize that if Jeff Burton is leading at the end of the race we'll have to watch Kim Burton crying on top of the pit box.

He either needs to win more or she needs to become a little more mature

GinaV24 said...

LOL, David, I'll agree with that, all it did wss cost them BOTH time and positions

It is just me or -
Does Race Buddy look like he was modeled after Bill Weber?

PammH said...

They are showing some great battles on RB!

GinaV24 said...

is kenseth back on the lead lap? he's sticking his nose in there BIG time

The Loose Wheel said...

Gina, I like Burton enough that I can deal with it lol.

He has had a great car so many times this year to get it taken away that he needs a good shot in the arm. Really enjoyed his trackside appearance.

The Loose Wheel said...

17 -1 lap

Sally said...

Do you think the 24 will complain about how the 42 raced him?

GinaV24 said...

you notice that Montoya doesn't screw around with Stewart though. That's because the guy in the 42 knows that Stewart will wreck his butt without a 2nd thought.

The Loose Wheel said...

Racing for lucky dog though

The Loose Wheel said...

This commercial thing is a joke!!!!!

GinaV24 said...

Sally - he didn't say anything on the radio. As a fan of his, I'm complaining about it! LOL

David -- I like Burton pretty well, too, but that whole crying thing his wife does just annoys me. It's not like she's a young kid -- there comes a time in your life when you just have to quit crying at the drop of a hat or a race win, as the case may be. (joke)

GinaV24 said...

although I'd rather watch Kim cry than Johnson celebrate another win

inkthatpaints said...

ditto Gina

The Loose Wheel said...

Gina, on that note I remember once listening to Sirius when Angie Skinner was co-hosting a show and she was told by Dale Earnhardt once after she got super emotional and excited that she needs to keep that for every time Mike wins a race because it was something fresh and new she really got started.

For as long as I've watched NASCAR, I've seen Kim Burton act like that....I do think she is a little better than she used to be and the network has really avoided her thus far =)

GinaV24 said...

David, sure, I understand its a reason to celebrate - remember that Burton hasn't won since last year (my guy either which is why I'm so whiny about Gordon).

Really truly if Burton wins I'll be happy for him -- anyone but Johnson.

The Loose Wheel said...

Bummer for Juan =(

Ouch, former teammate just took him out

Sally said...

Well, that sets up an exciting finish.

GinaV24 said...

well, the 83 finally just held his line with Montoya doing the same crap he did to a whole lot of people.

Like Kyle said, he'd made a lot of people mad -- considering all the payback talk today, I'm not surprised.

The Loose Wheel said...

31 sitting duck. only car stayed out

Charlie said...

Like Wally said, if you watch the replay again you will see the 83's front left turn right.

GinaV24 said...

with johnson alongside on rights. Ugh, well, I hope for a good clean restart without any stupidity.

think we can get that?

Just had a problem with RaceTrack when the yellow came out for Juan Montoya crashed. Anyone else had a problem with RaceTrack?

GinaV24 said...

Wow, that was amazing - no one else hit them.

GinaV24 said...

racetrack?

GinaV24 said...

Wow, that was smooth! Sorry but it was nice and easy just move don't wreck

GinaV24 said...

crap, well not what I wanted to see. Fun talking with all of you.

Probably another reason ratings are falling even though it was an impressive run by the 48

Sally said...

And Jr. got a top 10!

Will they do 25 minutes of post race on TNT or switch to the internet.
