All SPEED Friday In Talladega
ESPN's Dale Jarrett picked a good week to have his appendix taken out. ESPN is out of action Friday and SPEED has the truck race on Saturday. Despite his surgery, Jarrett will be back in action for ESPN Sunday covering the Sprint Cup Series race.
SPEED starts Friday at 2:30PM from the big track with Sprint Cup Series practice. John Roberts, Kyle Petty and Larry McReynolds on the call. NASCAR Live is next at 3:30PM during the break between sessions with Krista Voda, Jeff Hammond and Bob Dillner. The Cup cars return to the track at 4PM for final practice.
The TV day is capped by the Camping World Trucks qualifying at 5PM. Rick Allen, Phil Parsons and Michael Waltrip will be in the TV booth. Hermie Sadler and Ray Dunlap will be the reporters.
Trackside is on at 7PM. Viewer reactions to the changes made to this show has been strong. Rutledge Wood hosts with Kyle Petty and Jeff Hammond as the expert panel. Newcomer Marianela Pereyra is the reporter.

LOL, OK, well I'm not sure if there is ever a GOOD week to have your appendix taken out.
Not sure how much TV time I'll get this weekend. I have plans for both days, so Friday night may be the only time available to sit on the couch.
Will watch practice but not trackside. It has become a silly, stupid show. Ls
Kyle petty tells us how the race should be driven, how a car should be set up and how a driver should act and what that driver should say but yet he never seemed to figure all that out for himself. He and Larry Mac seem to keep liking to bite the hand that feeds them.
It is sad that when they put someone down they don't care that is a human being they are hurting. They do it just for reaction. Hard to watch and is slowly driving me away. I cannot be a part of destroying the soul of another human being. Words are extremely painful regardless the amount of money you have.
All I hope for is a good Talladega race and very little of that 2-car tango stuff. While the race lead numbers were high, the two car stuff is very boring to watch. Even watching last year's race yesterday on SPEED, you had the pack racing and that was more interesting to watch. Hopefully the changes NASCAR made will help get pack racing the best. The truck series could be the best race of the weekend if the 2-car tango stuff appears in the NSCS.
If NASCAR Is going to continue to allow the 2 car racing then there should be 2 winners. The front car could not come close to a win without the second. Ls
I, too, hope for an exciting race. Also have given up on Trackside. I like Kyle Petty, but it's more of a scripted chaos, then informative fun show. I actually stopped watching it when they would have guest drivers on, and then, right in the middle of them talking, Larry Mac would turn around and spout to the crowd "These are my people!" , whilst the driver would have a "Did you just interrupt me to do something stupid?" look on his face. Or the endless Toyota commercial from Hammond and DW.But ultimately, I hope for a safe, exciting race. Oh,and a Roush Ford wins....

Hmmmmm....how are they going to be able to put just one car in a frame and follow it around the track, discussing non race related stories about said driver...lol!
Sounds like changes may not have made a big enough difference to stop the 2 car draft :-(.
That's a great picture! Now we know where ESPN gets all it's info from.
Also hope Dale Jarrett is doing well.
I was thinking the same thing West Coast Diane.
We will be able to see twice as many cars in a camera shot as they usually show. Two cars hooked together will almost force them to show two cars but with the technology Espn has they may just zoom in and show you one car.
Wait and see I guess.
Kyle Petty is awesome in the booth!
Anyway, looks like the changes NASCAR implemented didn’t work. It’s going to be a long day Sunday.
any changes coming betweeen practices to eliminate this 2 car nonsense
Probably not anon. Kyle Petty warned that changes to the car 4-5 years ago led to this. More change may have other unintended consequences. NASCAR seems happy where they are.
Well, being here all I can say is whatever the rule changes it sure does not look any different. Round and round they go two by two.
Sounds like those of us with Direct TV better enjoy SPEED while we can. They may be dropping it Nov. 1.
Anybody else heard this?
From the looks of practice, it appears we'll have another full round of LoveBuggery. Come on Nascar, loose the plates and put a chicane on the backstretch.

Yes. Here is a lonk to an article:

Well, looks like the rules changes had zero affect. Bummer. I was really looking forward to the race on Sunday but now, I honestly dont care. Ill watch but I wont like it! Truck race should be good.
One time today, Larry Mac said that it is impossible to have a "3 car tandem". I present this without comment.
Also, the guys were wearing suits today instead of casual friday. Even Mikey had to put a blazier on over his firesuit for truck quals.
I am also bummed. Not a fan of this awful dual slalom racing!
It's nothing more than a high speed chain race.
Truck race should be great. Hoping for a surprise winner today.
DJ still uses a flip phone? Really?? Someone get that man a smartphone!
