Live Blogging Camping World Trucks From Michigan (SPEED - 12PM ET)

The comfortable truck series TV team is on the air from MIS. Krista Voda leads the pre-race show. In the booth is Rick Allen, Michael Waltrip and Phil Parsons. Ray Dunlap and Hermie Sadler are on pit road.

MIS today is a short race that looks more and more like another green flag gas mileage affair. It should be interesting to see just how much racing is done in comparison to driving to a specific gas strategy.

SPEED also has RaceBuddy free at NASCAR.com for the truck races this season. This is an event where having some extra angles and elements to use may come in very handy.

This post will serve to host your comments on the SPEED coverage today. To add your TV-related opinion, just click on the comments button below.

Hiya, Mark is in the race today...that is the reason for the pic!

Sally said...

Not exactly a huge crowd in the stands.

Daly Planet Editor said...

No! Not a fan of trucks on tracks like this myself.

hahahaha that the Johnny Sauter roller coaster segment was funny!

Anonymous said...

it was Roland

Cathy said...

Loved the Sauter segment too. Have ridden the roller coaster at Cedar Point and LOVED it. I would freak out in a truck (or car) going 180 mph and rolling over and over!

What's up with the MIS weather? Anyone?

Anonymous said...

Brian said about 30 minutes ago that rain would be about 2 hours

Sally said...

According to the Weather Channel here in MI, storm coming in off Lake Michigan. Don't know how long before they hit MIS.

Daly Planet Editor said...

Thanks! Smoking hot here in North Cuba!

Sally said...

Really sticky humid here in MI.

Charlie said...

In truck 2 on race buddy has the wrong audio for that driver.

Sally said...

I hope the front nose is better than the bakc nose.

Daly Planet Editor said...

Poor Max, makes you wonder if he will go back to sports cars.

He has no luck at all!

Anonymous said...

no sir no he doesn't :(

Charlie said...

The driver in truck #1 on race buddy is already been told to save fuel.

PammH said...

there's nobody in the stands...:(

GinaV24 said...

wow, I just sat down for a minute and checked in on the planet and saw there is a truck race on.

Hi everyone! looks kind of cloudy in MI today. No one in the stands!

Wow, fast track and fast wreck.

GinaV24 said...

So Todd the cueball strikes again?

PammH said...

I swear Cueball has forgotten how to drive this yr. He's a wrecking ball on the track!

Rainy2228 said...

Just how long is the Onion, used this for family purposes, gonna use the "I lost the nose", or whatever the last excuse he made for screwing up anothers day???...I am SO fed up with his lame driving and phony reasoning for all this....Someone needs to either park him solidly OR just refuse to give him a steering wheel...his entire career is nothing but what we all saw today....LACK OF TALENT!!!!!

Does the Speed guys not know what a split screen is? Every time they do a full screen replay they miss something.

Daly Planet Editor said...

The infield is full, the stands are empty.

Daly Planet Editor said...

Todd is having a tough time this season. Keeps over-driving and gets himself in trouble.

PammH said...

Here's the radar screen I'm following for the storms coming:

this is just one of many seasons that the cueball has had problems. Sorry I've seen him wreck too many other drivers to give him a lot of slack.

Bill said...

Hey gang!

Great. Another fuel mileage race? NASCAR needs to switch to a 2 gallon fuel tank in all their series.

Daly Planet Editor said...

Bill, it's awful. I hate seeing trucks run tracks like this.

They need to be at Rockingham and other tracks that let them race.

Bill said...

Absolutely. Trucks aren't fast enough for these huge tracks. Except for Daytona, for some reason.

Daly Planet Editor said...

Holding the NNS live blog until the Little League game on ESPN is over.

Roadgeek Adam said...

Well, JD, if the SAFER barrier introduction says anything for Rockingham, we might be seeing that come 2012. :)

Bill said...

Sorry to hijack the blog for a second, but the lineup for the Nationwide race is incredible. And Marcus has to come from the back. Ought to be one for the books. Hope we get a chance to see it.

Who's the broadcast crew? I wish they'd bring Randy LaJoie back.

Daly Planet Editor said...

Marty, Rusty Ricky. You should really read my blog sometime!

Bill said...

LOL I usually do!

GinaV24 said...

Has Mikey improved his broadcasting skills that much or is it just because I don't have to hear his voice and DW's every week?

he's doing a good job in the booth this week is what I'm saying here. Shocking though that may be to hear me say.

GinaV24 said...

I may be able to stay around and see some of the Nwide race before I have to leave for my company's picnic. One of those command performance deals, ya know.

Daly Planet Editor said...

Good point, Gina.

PammH said...

gotta agree Gina. He's doing MUCH better than the last time I listened to the broadcast.

GinaV24 said...

well that was a bummer for sauter

w17scott said...

Looks like it will be a wet victory lane here ...Montreal weather looks good for NNS as does Elkart Lake for ALMS ...wonder if Marcos is still on for ALMS today?

Roadgeek Adam said...

Bill: Hell yeah its an incredible lineup, Ambrose, Edwards both have to come from the back, so does Trevor Bayne (Michel Jourdain qualified the car).

I want to see Jacques Villeneuve win today. If this ends up being the last race at Montreal, it would be fitting he win his first NASCAR race at the track named for his late father.

Daly Planet Editor said...

ESPN NNS pre-race on the air. Little League baseball over.

Anonymous said...

Pretty empty seats, but part of it is pricing. I'm not paying $30 to watch a 200 mile race that flies by, and isn't that great. It looks like a lot of other people won't either. I live 10 minutes from MIS, I went yesterday for qualifying and I'm going tomorrow for the Cup race, but I can't justify spending that much per ticket for what you get.

TV coverage has been pretty good so far. Rick Allen's PxP is always impressive and Mikey's not even that annoying today.

w17scott said...

my bad ...Marcos will run NNS today

GinaV24 said...

oh geez, big wreck. What a mess!

Roadgeek Adam said...

Big wreck at Michigan, rare sight

Daly Planet Editor said...

Who looks like the Little Leaguers now?

Bill said...

Wow! Great rear camera shot!

GinaV24 said...

what the heck was Kligerman doing? He hit Austin Dillon multiple times. Why would you accelerate up to speed when you can't see out of the windshield?

does he have a spotter?

Anonymous said...

The 29 had no ideal? The 3's rear onboard showed that the 29 had a clear view of the 3 truck because you can see his helmet!

Roadgeek Adam said...

I hope someone can get around Kevin Harvick. He's the only Cup driver left and there are a lot of hungry drivers behind him, including two Brazilians.

GinaV24 said...

looks like this race will get done just in time to switch over to nationwide

GinaV24 said...

Adam, yeah, I'd rather a regular "truck" driver win it than a cup driver slumming for the day.

Roadgeek Adam said...

6 cautions at Michigan, this is not common. What is the track record?

Roadgeek Adam said...

Honestly, if Cup drivers would stop slumming it in this series, Piquet, Kligerman, Paludo, Coulter, Carmichael are all good shots at getting their first win, however, they don't get many chances.

GinaV24 said...

Adam, we think alike on it. Trucks and Nationwide both. NASCAR should have put a limit on the number of races they could race in if they are full time in cup, rather than this bogus "what series do you want to run for a championship in?"

RWar24 said...

Nascar needs to make up their minds when it comes to throwing the caution after the white. They did it last week at Watkins Glen. Either throw it right after the wreck happens or hold it until after the checkers. This waiting a few moments to throw it does nothing but confuse fans and race teams on who finishes where.

Daly Planet Editor said...

Rare to see overlapping NASCAR TV.

Daly Planet Editor said...

Well, that was interesting. Now about to switch from wrecking on a superspeedway to wrecking on a road course!

NNS TV blog is live and open.
