The new SPEED studios are right down the street from the Charlotte Motor Speedway. On this Friday, the Nationwide Series cars are packed away and the spotlight is shining on the only motorsports cable TV network in North America.
9AM ET starts the day with CWTS practice. SPEED is on the air until 11:30PM when Trackside ends the 14.5 hours of continuous NASCAR programming.
This day at CMS is notorious for getting off schedule and having weird circumstances happen. This is especially true for the Sprint Showdown and All-Star qualifying session scheduled for 5PM. There are always twists and turns at CMS, even without the presence of Humpy Wheeler. Instead, it will be Bruton Smith's son Marcus, pictured above, who will be running the show at the track.

Is anyone else having problems with SPEED HD? Its not coming in for me on my TV.
Just a heads-up. The Brian Vickers press conf. is at 2PM.
Jim Utter is now reporting that Kevin Harvick has reached a deal with RCR and they will announce that at 3:15PM.
Now will be Saturday for the RCR and Harvick deal announcement.

This is a very long round of coverage (for a non-Speedweeks event). And on one network, where the broadcast groups (truck guys, cup guys, and the bridge guys) alternate back and forth. Amazing.
Only watching the truck related coverage.
Wow, Brian out 6 months, so sounds like some truth in the ESPN reports. Really hope they figure out what is wrong with him and that he will be able to race again.
Made a joke about this being a case for Dr. House last week, sounds like that may just be the case afterall...

People can say what they want to say about ESPN, but anymore when it comes to getting the inside scoop on things in NASCAR, they're about one of the best at it these days.
Yeah, I think they have improved from their formula a couple years ago when they were just trying to be over the top in "scoops" but they have been pretty on target this year especially with the race bunch.
Have enjoyed the Speed coverage today. As usual, less is more. I enjoy how Speed does things. Very few bells and whistles, just excellent content. Tomorrow's 3 hours of RaceDay may be another story. I think they try too hard on that show to be something they are not.

Speed actually broadcasts the trucks and I got a big black cloud over the house so no tv signal.
I think the cloud followed me home.

JD, good to have you providing all of us this forum, thanks for that. Not to get off subject but I see my buddy Chris has hit a media bump on the track. Oops! I really did not understand the big deal other than his comments seemed like they were off of racing but he brought the thought home as his point was made about the racers helping. He's smarter than people know. Very smart. How did he insult minorities? Am I missing something? Maybe I did not read enough? Do you have an opinion on it quickly before the green?
